There are also trails in Queens and Upper Manhattan, I'm 70/30 in favour of the Inbred.

Wouldn't your bike then explode when you reached 88mph?

Mine keep my feet warm and dry. I would highly reccommend a pair.

Ta, I'll have a look at that. My mate was telling me about his experience of the 'fun' category, he finished 5 mins behind father christmas. I'll just give it a go and see what happens. There's always the kids category.

I was thinking of doing the same thing, although I have a carbon seatpost – could it be powdercoated too, or is that a stupid question?

I use a shimano quick release with a chaintug on each side, just to make sure. Haven't had any slippage so far.

Got a single ply 2.5 highroller on the front, been thinking of getting a Larson tt for the rear for a while to replace a 2.35 hr. Does the Larson grip well on rocks and the like?

Thanks for the advice, I'll have a look around for a pin spanner and start to tinker.

That looks grand. Could you slide the saddle back instead of getting a longer stem?

Sorry about that, too late to edit now. I wasn't thinking, error duly noted.

Cheers, yes, they are the maxle version. Another 10mm would have been nice.

I don't think I could part with them, they're cracking forks. A very stiff and solid feel.

I got them in the states for 250 quid from the wheelandsprocket.com eBay shop, not sure if they still have any left.

Is it true that fox forks require more servicing than rockshox?

From experience the old style Hope mono minis don't fit, however Avid Elixir Rs do. It's a tight squeeze with a 160 rotor and a DMR Revolver hub though, only a couple of mm to spare.

That's great, thanks for the info – I'll look into them.

I thought as much, anything in the Rothiemurchus Estate worth doing – with a couple of nights wild camping?

Front is still perfect after 2 years, rear needed new bearings after 4 months

I don't like football anymore, I did until watching Everton capitulate in dire fashion to Sporting Lisbon. What a ridiculous game, I don't see how people can get so worked up about it, ooooh, I'd much rather spend my precious time writing disparaging remarks on internet forums.

If it wasn't for football we wouldn't have had this though..

I suppose putting 140 pikes on a SS would be somewhat like having a DH bike with a stiff rear end. It'd be great going down, and probably manageable uphill.

I've got 120s on my new Inbred, I too was worried about the HA being too steep and the handling twitchy, having come from a summer season with the same 120 forks, which was almost like riding my old chopper.

The handling is fine though on the regular Inbred, definitely more lively and less boat-like but stable none the less.

The logos will peel off, I'd have to give it some serious consideration before attacking them though.

I've looked around online for a set of the 2010 decals, they're a sort of grey-ish colour, which would probably go a bit better with the green.

I'm awaiting delivery of a set of chainring bolts, not very safe at the moment, I know.

I'll definitely stick the front ring on the outside and see how the line looks.

The fence is part of the squirrel highway so I'd feel bad repairing it, besides its not my fence anyway.

I'll second the Natwest ones, with those smarmy gets. Its almost parody.

    Thanks for the comments.

Being an Evertonian I do have an aversion to all things red so am aware I need to get some new grips, the graphics on the Rebas though I may just have to live with.

Next on the list of things to do is to shorten the front hose, anyone got any experience doing this, will a stanley knife suffice or is it an LBS job?

Oldgit, you are an old git 😀

Jimmy, I'll hang on to the forks I think, I'd highly recommend a pair though.

In regards to the mock-Georgian garage door, I'm currently staying at my in-laws in New York where this style is highly popular.

    Cheers

I have the same problem with mine. The front is still fine but the rear has completely seized up.

    You'll need these

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=29465

    35 quid

Can't help with fitting advice though I'm afraid, I'd take it to an lbs, however I'm not techically adept.

    Good luck

Hungry monkey, i'm also running nuke proof generators, the front is still super-smooth whilst the back is completely
fu£&ed, loads of play and crunchy as anything. I've only had them for 5 odd months, don't think I'll be buying anymore.

    That's looking good.

Mine just arrived today, it was a complete impulse/unnecessary purchase however u couldn't help myself. It currently has pride of place on my windowsill. Swapping everything off my summer season over during the following weeks. I'm moving to new York at the end of jan, some nice ss friendly trails there so looking forward to trying out the inbred.

    Pics to follow.

Nice looking bikes. Made a new year's resolution to buy a new frame and decided to get myself a green inbred too. I feel a bit naughty doing it as it is not a necessity, I'm sure I'll get over it though.
