I just acquired a Lynskey Cooper cx from the company’s eBay shop over here in trumpland. Got some China carbon wheels on the way too (Donald wouldn’t approve, I’m sure). No single speed options, so it’ll be my first geared bike in years, thinking 1x whatever is cheapest.

    I’ll update on progress.

I’m thinking frameset only. Plan to build with whatever I have already as a winter/wet weather commuter with mudguards, 30cc ish slicks, discs.

Wiggles, thank you for answering my question.

If I wanted cheaper I’d go to Halfords or bikes direct. The kaffenback is a decent quality frame with various setup options available, not difficult to understand really , is it?

As previously stated, if you have room for proper full length sks then fit them, even if it be with p-clips and/or zip ties.

Had mine for 6 months, lots of wet rides – no problems, batteries last ages, very visible – would recommend.

Definitely, had 3 punctures over last couple of months – none of which sealed with Stan’s.

Really don’t ever think I’ll be going back to gears anytime soon. Been soley SS for 6 years now.

Caad10 SS 46/18 for summer commute

Pompino 44/18 for winter commute/general duties

Swift 32/18 or 20 for MTB

Planning a SS steel/ti disc gravel type thing to maybe rule them all.

Cougar, that Pomp pic prompted me to get one all those years back. Been on it ever since.

Nice choice, I’ve had one for 4 years now. TBH I can’t ever see myself replacing it, it has handled everything I’ve thrown at it. Started off with the steel forks, very ‘compliant’ then swapped to niner carbon, seem sharper in the handling. It can be built up light-ish – EBB has been creak free and flawless. I’ve had it set up with risers, wide flats, mucho sweep salsas and even drops – each one giving a great experience. Pics will follow.

Schwalbe Ones in 25 on ultegra tubeless wheels – easy set up, smooth riding, not fl#&s yet. Would recommend to a friend.

Thanks for all the replies, I’ve just ordered a gourdon 30. I have an idea of strapping it to my rack with bungy cords as an alternative.

I’ve recently had a similar dilemma. Got an old pompino with a carbon road fork with crap clearance, updated it with a kinesis pure CX fork, it has loads of clearance, mudguard eyelets and is all carbon. Has, however altered the geo substantially, the a-c is massive and the bike now feels like Danny hart’s downhill slack monster.

I was very tempted to get a cross-check or a paddy wagon too, but can’t seem to give up the pompino.

Got an ASUS chromebox, lovely bit of kit – fit and forget mainly – only gripe is printing, google cloud print by no means reliable, been through 3 different printers, they’ve all had problems connecting (also need a windows/mac/linux machine to set it all up in the first place IME).

    Nurse here.

I currently do 1100-2330 3 days a week in A+E, 30 min drive each way, biking, I have found, is impossible due to being so knackered at end of shift.

Thinking about taking a new job in OR in different hospital, 1200-2000 5 days a week, would be 30-45 min bike each way.

Me too, looks mint condition. Probably have more fun on that than a 5 grand carbon jobbie, although I’d be afraid to scratch it.

Me too, I feel like I grew up with him always in the background, especially in those hot 80s/90s summer holidays. RIP
