Left is definitely easier for balance. Right makes the bikes “wider” for traffic.

if you’re after an airborne, I’d get one off ebay – same frame from China and when I was looking last summer they were about £350.

That’s the one I got – but the exchange rate has probably knocked that up to nearer £600 now. Great frame though. Bike is used for local rides, is loaded up with panniers for highlands XC/camping and I’ve had RC31s on it too. It just feels soooo lively compared with my old Inbred and is comfortable enough to be ridden all day.

If you last read the forums two days ago, it’ll be all the ones with a “Freshness” value of less than 2 days.

    See – it wasn’t that complicated….

Ton – please send goog a copy of the email so that he can find out “whodunnit”. Seems only fair you should give him the chance to clear his name after naking said accusation.

What if (dun, dun, dun) it was from someone pretending to be goog and stirring things up? Not that anyone would do that eh?

I just thought it was out of order, that some people on Mleh think abusing someone in this way, is acceptable.

And there are a few on mleh (incl. goog) who agree with you, hence him trying to get an answer as to who sent the abusive email.

How does one calculate what length you need these days anyway?

It’s not the length – it’s what you do with it. . .

Any MTB, fitted with 1″ or 1.5″ slicks would be fine for this. At least that way, he can later use it offroad and won’t have wasted the money on a one-off ride.

“Stuck down” might be air escaping from the lower into the upper chamber. This was a known problem in the first models (2006), but I assumed they’d fix it in later versions.

Other than not being able to see the “thread starter” and the inability to search by author, I think it’s great. Judging by some of the previous comments, it looks like some folk need to do a bit of exploration (e.g. there are separate forums for Bike, Chat and Classifieds).

Breaking the long threads into several pages must reduce network traffic – benefitting both the server and the requester (especially those using mobile connections).

Lack of colour will keep the workers happy.

I’ve been using the first version of these (well, since the new ones) since the end of 2006. I had one issue with air leaking between chambers but it was fixed quickly by Windwave and they’ve been faultless since. They still look really smart and even the 3D decals (which I thought would last two rides) have stayed on. The later versions seem to be very flaky indeed.

Two more weeks before I’m unemployed.

But one of them is 5 days holidays, and after that, my mortgage is paid off and I’m on a small pension. Looking to get lots of riding in this year.

I had a tiltable Thule on a hatch. The theory was that I could tilt it out of the way to allow entry. the practicality is that 3 decent-sized MTBs on a rack is pretty unwieldy to be tilting and you’d likely give yourself a hernia. Just learnt to pack/unpack in the right order :-)

Have you tried the Endura Stealth tights? Very warm, a thin fleecy lining and waterproof.

Meh – with the Meta at just over 30lbs, I was thinking there might just might be room for a 24lb FS XC bike in my stable. I was impressed by Jojo’s HeiHei mind….

Even a cheap turntable will bring out highlights missing from CD and especially MP3/WMA. Listen to a 12″ single on vinyl and it just grabs yer ears and shouts down them!

Are you thinking you need to start/end at Railway Stations? That sort of sets some bounds. Happy to Hostel/ Bunkhouse/ camp/ B&B?? e.g. there’s a bunkhouse at Inverie in Knoydart that’s just a short walk from the pub.

Or look further North towards Achnashellach on the Kyle line. You could easily spend four days off road in that area. There’s a private hostel (Gerrys) at Craig, plus bunkhouse and hostels at Torridon, Kinlochewe and Achnasheen.

Devs Cairngorm option has lot of possibilities too.

Geoffs idea of the Western Isles tour shouldn’t be dismissed. Set up a rigid MTB with some slicks and take to the roads of the Outer Hebrides. Problem for you would be fitting it in to the time available as it’ll take you a day just to get to Barra.

If we’re being pedantic, can we just call it off-road recreational cycling? I’m willing to bet that no more than 5% of subscribers ever actually ride on a mountain.

I take it we’re also ruling out discussion of built bike trails, events like MM and SITS, and, of course, anything Cyclo-cross related.

Would be good to have a search facility like the old fourm had; which I guess would come in time.

Will there be any sticky threads – if so, why not start one with the features we would like to see added to the forum.

There are a couple of sticky threads already….
