tpbiker – first photo is the trig point on Allermuir. Second is overlooking Glencorse Reservoir from the top of the woods.

Kips Bypass should be OK at the moment as it will be frozen, otherwise it can get a bit boggy at a couple of points. A nice descent down to Green Cleugh though!

Dens Cleugh is one of the boggiest tracks but again should be frozen.

There’s not, currently, enough snow to hide the trails so you shouldn’t get lost :-)

Pentlands? Crap. I had a ride round there yesterday and it was awful.

For ultimate traction you’ll appreciate the Nate at the rear.

For steering in soft snow you’ll appreciate the Nate at the front.

    Buy another Nate.

No idea. In some cases just whatever came with the bike. Mind you, I’m not a princess when it comes to bike-fit. I reckon that if can pedal all day without discomfort then it fits just fine and if I can’t then a couple of wee tweaks will fix it. I guess it’s probably more important for all you professional racers and your incremental gains.

That’s why they are currently merely suggestions and have not yet been agreed, ratified or codified

Some of the stuff that actually is being proposed for the Scottish Constitution is quite interesting, like a right to a home and a right to a free education.

I’ll tell you once I’ve sat down in my local artisan-roasted coffee house.

Got to the top of a hill in some low cloud but waited long enough for it to sweep past. This one was taken with the phone.

    If you were good enough

FWIW, these cuts don’t apply to Scotland, where new constables receive a salary of £23,259, which rises to £25,962 on completion of training.

Absolutely. Then it was renamed “Job Week” because too many folk were taking the piss!

OMM Last Drop is about as light as you get – though possibly a bit voluminous for you.

    +1

The one in our back garden has an indoor switch and is on a low setting when switched on (regardless of ambient light) and switched to a higher setting when there is movement. It’s a light and not a spotlight though.

The one at the front is a normal PIR spotlight. It’s always switched on on the house but only lights up after dark and in the event of movement. We got it in B&Q.

As someone who spends a lot of time walking up hills (and I mean without bike) a slower, more powerful stroke suits me better.

Everything about that Van Nic ticks my boxes. I already own an Amazon and considered a VN before I bought my El Mariachi 29er. Belt drive/IGH I “get”. Even the Lefty doesn’t put me off.

Why then does it look crap? There’s something not quite right about that seat tube and the seat stays. It looks very unbalanced somehow.

    Cross-border non-shipping agreement? Same a Specialized.

I wonder if that’s even legal.

simon – I meant accommodation. There are a couple of stretches where there is little choice so it pays to book well in advance. A bit of careful planning will help avoid these, especially as cyclists will be able to go further than walkers on any given day.
