Is it Evans Halshaw? Bought 2 cars recently for my teenage girls and both times got a cracking car at a price i was prepared to pay. They appeared significantly cheaper than local rivals with similar models. If it is Evans then they don’t negotiate at all. However this isn’t a problem as the cars were priced exactly right. They also made a fuss over it being the kids first car.

I went to a competitor and their first words were, “step into my office and we can do a deal”. “No thanks mate, car has too many miles and is £500 overpriced”. They dropped it £200 a week later. I still don’t think its sold.

Get yourself a motorbike. Yes the training is a PITA now with all the licence changes, but you are more vulnerable and it’s worth it. Expect not to get much change out of £800 by the time you do cbt, mod 1&2. Gear is more important than the bike but budget about £500 for started kit. Onc you sort all that then look at bikes.

I passed on a 600cc Kawasaki, and went straight onto a 800cc Yamaha MT-09. Absolutely great fun, I use it for occasion commuting and if I go the boring motorway I can easily save 15 mins filtering, which is a blast, just stay alert.

However I choose to stick to routes through town and save less time but the overall route is quicker anyway. The difference from the car is just the feeling of freedom and fun element. As for getting changed, no idea what the others are doing but I’ve got armoured jeans, leather jacket and boots. This takes about one minute to change into my normal gear, a minute 30 if I have waterproof overalls on.

Do it, if you love bikes, you’ll love motorbikes.

Normally £13 in uk, £10.50 plus tip in Glasgow city centre, cheaper in outer areas.

Best haircut was in Italy. Guy used open bladed knife to shape my hair after cutting what seemed like each hair individually. Also got full hot towel treatment and much Italian noise and flair. My wife was waiting and was very impressed with the theatrics and end result. Cost about €20-€25

That doesn’t look like fun! Why would you do that? A face plant into the water at that speed. I’m out.

TBH im looking to see if i enjoy it. If i can grasp the CBT stuff then i’ll do the theory and take it from there. With wife / kids / self preservation high up my agenda i’ll be taking it easy and making sure its safety first at all times.

I’ve actually stopped talking to people about me doing my course as everyone has a close relative / friend who has been killed / disabled. It should maybe put me off but i’d rather experience motorcycling for myself and make my own judgement on safety / risk / reward

I’m a big Arran fan, can’t say there’s a bad one in the bunch. Also like Thrappledouser. Orkney company is good. Thankfully local Tesco is big on Scottish beers and beers of the world. (Rutherglen if anyone’s close)

strangely, i have exactly the same issue, with a sore tooth and lump in the roof of my mouth. Pain comes on after i eat. Had to phone NHS 24 last night as cheek had swollen. They recommended i get it seen to in the next 24 hours so made me an appointment today at 10am in my local hospital. Not ideal as weather was looking good and i was heading down to Glentress.

Woke up this morning and it appeared to have gone so cancelled the appointment and went down to Glentress anyway. Problem is once i ate i was in agony. Decided just to self medicate with ibuprofen and paracetamol and red wine (once i got home). NHS 24 also recommended salt water rinse.

Now slightly concerned with posts above re eating jawbone….

argghhh… just had late lunch in there (Glasgow branch) and said to the wife that dinner was served too quick. Tasty though, good service. Wouldn’t go back, couldn’t quite put my finger on it until you posted. Claims its homemade but its not!

Nope, bought my stepson one about that age. He was delighted. Obviously teach them where not to touch (and the snapping shut of the blades and where his fingers should be) or what he can and cant do with it. But other than that left him to it.

As luck would have it, Howies just announced a deal on their Merino, so I’ve now got 2 for not much more than the Rapha one. Enter MERINOTWENTY at the checkout. 🙂

Admiral do a tracking box and you can specify the youngster as the main driver and you and wife as named drivers. I looked at a new Citroen C1 – without box £2100, with box £1600, me as first named driver £1100, wife on as well £900. There’s no need to lie, even when I made myself the main driver and youngster named and the price stayed the same.

Be careful with mods, they sometimes piggy back a lot of bad software in the install file. End result is your machine runs like a dog because of all the toolbars, quick buy extensions, adware that is installed.

+1 get a bike and spend time with him. Also make sure you ask what he wants as well. He might not enjoy physical activities.

My MTB SS is 33×12 (76 according to Sheldon) and i use it for commuting. Nobbly tyres and a few hills over the 11 miles each way. Feel i get a workout anyway. Wouldn’t like to do any more miles or higher gear.

see if your provider offers an EFM circuit. Cheaper than leased line, better than bonded adsl IMHO

Yeah, i wouldn’t buy another one. But for peace of mind when out in all conditions it was ideal. There’s other damage that can happen, not just a broken screen, plus i assume that a non Apple repair price?

I’ve just completed my first 12 months rental. Extended it for 3 years for a nominal fee (deposit) and it said i’m free to get another bike and no more money is due. In 3 years time i can return it at my expense but i get my deposit back or keep it.

ok, i use 33:12 on my SS commuter rigid 29er. A few small hills on the way but all doable with some effort. Couldn’t take it off road as need the momentum from the road!

Kilpatrick hills for me on Saturday. Heading up the Humphrey road and choose a trail from there. Looks of work to create signed trails happening so looking forward to seeing any progress.

We both were in a similar place, recently broken up, out on the pull and stumbled into each other on a Glasgow nightclub dancefloor. Most surreal journey of my life.

Not all reboots are bad. Ok Sly’s Dredd was awful but Karl Urban’s was pretty good. Fairly low budget as well.

You need to remember the golden rule of business in our society, to make money. This means keeping costs low to maximise profits. It would take a monumental human behaviours shift to address this.

I had a demo ride when the yeti van was up at Cathkin Braes last year. SB95c in large, im 6ft and it was perfect size. Great ride as well, though i didn’t have the £6k required to purchase one 🙁

its too big. I reverted to a 6 after 2 weeks. Its also very slippy so get a case, and if your cycling with it, get a full phone case. The iPhones have hand off which is available on Yosemite with bluetooth 4, this means you can start a document on your mac and then transfer to your phone to complete on the train etc. Your mac may be too old though.
