It could also be a problem, i would have expected it to have stabilised by then if all was well. No harm in going on one of their support chats if you have the time.
drslowFree MemberThe 100m isn’t a hard stop btw. Lots of things can affect the signal quality. I’ve got a camera streaming HD on 150M CAT6 cable run. The signal will degrade after 100M but it is a gamble if you want to go longer. I assume your ‘load’ is fairly light?
In my case the person installing it got lucky and didn’t realise the length until it got a network tester on it.
drslowFree MemberAgree with above, great film, not a great ending, but still ok. Would watch again.
drslowFree MemberI took the wife and kids on a Royal Caribbean western med cruise about 6 years ago, ages 15,14,11,10. They still talk about it and rate it as their best holiday ever.
Pros
The ship was huge, Independent of the seas, it didn’t feel crowded.
Theres tonnes of stuff to do, not just for kids but adults as well.
We got enough ‘credits’ (discount) when booking to do a trip to Rome and Florence
Food and drink was excellent and as we had booked a suite we had access to a members club (a suite was cheaper than two rooms but had separate bedrooms)
Service was excellent from all the staff
It was nice dressing up and having a formal meal (not as dressy as some cruise lines, but we enjoyed it)
Being in a new port each day was interesting. We usually got off for a few hours.
Cons
Hugely expensive but circumstances at the time allowed us to afford it, just
its not fully inclusive, sure you get a lot but some things are extra. e.g. You can get a coffee, but if you want a latte, its extra. Wine packages are extra etc.
RC is an American company so you need to add a tips package…..
Would i go back and do it again? Yes i would, once the mortgage is paid off 🙂
drslowFree MemberJust had the same issue last few weeks. Tilting did fix it for a short time, but it would still appear, looked like the pump. Then got an E:09 code, the heating element was broken. £99 call out, £130 heating element plus whatever part to repair the E:15 code. We opted for a new one.

drslowFree MemberJust for balance, my 18yo daughter took up a position in a local call centre last year. Min wage but bonus structure for referrals. Basically she had to cold call and generate interest in a product or service (cant remember exactly but not illegal), once someone was interested she referred them to a ‘manager’ to do the deal. Cant quite remember what the product was.
In the 4 weeks she endured it she had no referrals but had clocked up 40 odd hours. She then left as it was demoralising and very high pressure. They then never paid her the minimum wage, lied to her and messed her about with broken promises. Her mum and I then discovered there was no written contract. She was ready to just write it off, however we went to visit the ‘manager’. Cue a load of excuses when threatened with every legal thing we could think of.
The ‘manager’ then got my wife to sign a blank sheet of paper saying they needed a signature to authorise the release of funds????? End result was she got paid, but her pal who had worked there longer got paid nothing as she hadn’t complained.
We then reported them to HMRC but havent followed up if they got investigated.
They don’t just scam their customers!
drslowFree MemberI started a blog but haven’t got round to finishing it. Let me know if anyone is interested in seeing the rest and i’ll put sometime into it.
drslowFree MemberIve cycled it twice now. first time 3 days, earlier this year i did it in two. Surprisingly a lot of it is ridable. Take a day pack and use the baggage service and enjoy. Remember you do need to be self sufficient.
drslowFree MemberIts not great he’s missed two days, but theres hundreds of smaller pubs / restaurants who have less than stringent hiring procedures. In other words, they need a chef quickly and when can he start. Be positive. If they’re allowing a representative then he’s on the way out as they’re following disciplinary procedure and the end result (already foregone) will be gross misconduct. It just means they take a few days to follow procedure. Hand in notice, apologise and start canvassing all businesses with a kitchen in the local area.
drslowFree MemberGot an email from Strava. Amazon WS is down. MyFitnessPal and others also affected
drslowFree MemberHave you used inbox for Gmail, or the old gmail user interface. Inbox is fantastic once you get used to pinning, bundling and sweeping. the old interface is a bit poor.
drslowFree Memberi used to do the parkrun which was 5 miles cycle from my house. No cycling shorts, trainers in bag as i had spds and too lazy to change pedals. Cycle there, run, cycle back. All fine.
drslowFree MemberSharkbait, you don’t need to justify yourself. Unfortunately, Its a sad reflection of how bad this forum has become.
drslowFree Memberyou can connect both. Routing will work off an algorithm calculating fastest route. Wired is faster than wireless.
drslowFree MemberGot my daughter and step-daughter cars when they passed at 17. car budget was £3k-£3.5k with insurance £1k-£1.5k
One chose a 2010 Ford Ka, 30k miles, 1.0 engine, insurance year 1, black box from insurethecar.com = £1050, year 2 (no claims) -£550 on our admiral multi car
The other chose Renault Clio 1.2, 45k miles, year 1 = £1100 with Morethan black box policy, year 2=£600 on our admiral multi car (no claims).
What we found was you really need to shop around and black box makes a difference. Keep the engine size small and dont buy new. We expect to be able to sell them next year for £1k.
drslowFree MemberActive noise cancelling requires power so you need a battery pack. Noise isolation means a better seal round your ear canal of tips that go deeper into your ear canal. I use Lee noise isolation with performance tips and they do a pretty good job of noise isolation.
Another option is a self fitting ear seal kit which you put a cheaper pair of earphones in and mould to your ear. Go on any motorbike forum and there will be a thread on what earphones for riding.
drslowFree MemberI had a similar issue. Turns out the holes were schraeder, yet stans valves were presta. therefore a slight move of the valve caused air to leak. I discovered these reducers and everything’s fine now.
drslowFree MemberDont have the double tap feature (or cant activate it) but theres a kick down at the bottom of the accelerator travel. push down to bottom of travel, once its at end press harder, you’ll feel a button press and it kicks down a gear.
Obviously make sure road is clear ahead.
Found the standard auto box great on my 3L A6. Sport mode is mega torquey
drslowFree MemberDo you have a point ctk? You could probably throw that argument against a lot of companies if you delved deeply enough. Would be interested to hear what law this CEO criminal has broken?
I still get friends proclaiming watching Kodi and others is ‘allowed’, or DVDs that can be bought cheap.
Whos rules do you live by?
drslowFree MemberSo your taking your impotent rage out on a (probably) young teen call centre worker. *slow clap* well done. They’re just doing a job and working for the Sky overlords. If you want to be tough, go and speak to the people who run the company and see how far that gets you.
Ive been with them 9 years, had a 22 minute call the other day with a very pleasant girl from customer services because i was ‘cancelling’. Ended up with 30% off, slightly less than last year but still decent enough. Its a dance we do every year, They are a business trying to make money, i’m a customer trying to pay as little as possible.
Its not like an insurance company, you actually get something from Sky.
They actually provide a world class entertainment service, if you don’t like it just leave. Don’t abuse someone trying to make a living.
Nobody’s holding a gun to your head.
drslowFree MemberDoesn’t sound like a problem to me, though how do you act on it? Does she feel threatened, scared (may not be you but past experience). Alcohol is a problem if it affects those around you. The quantity seems reasonable (except maybe not enough days off it) but what happens when your on it? Though i do think theres a control element going on from your wife as it doesn’t seem unreasonable.

drslowFree MemberI’ve used Alpybus before a few times . Very good service and reasonable price. They have some restrictions (this was in Verbier) where they can drop you off,i.e. We passed our accommodation to be told he can only drop in the out of town bus stop. Took a 15 minute walk with bags and kit to get back. Chamonix was fine though.
drslowFree MemberPoor obs and too much speed from the cyclist given the stationary traffic in other lane. Yes he may technically be in the right, but how much does being right hurt right now?
drslowFree MemberIts all about observation. However i know where your worry come from, many cars would cut that corner, especially at night, thinking the road was empty. This means you have to react to that, which as a beginner requires thought as moving a motorbike is not sub conscious, yet! To combat this equalize the danger, ride in the middle of your lane and build up to being comfortable leaning the bike to get your desired line without thinking. Speed will drop as you have less visibility.
You will have to push yourself though to build your confidence, which is what the IAM group are doing.
drslowFree MemberGot the same bike in SS form. Thankfully you can pick a better bottom bracket. You’ll enjoy many fun miles on it!
drslowFree MemberDon’t know about all the marketing BS but its the best fitting and comfiest helmet I’ve ever owned in 25 years.
drslowFree MemberPhil, no names have been mentioned and the OP seems to be quite factual.
drslowFree MemberPlay lego – break the instructions into “we need 16 bits, can you get 4 fours” etc.
Build stuff together, measuring etc.
Teach poker / blackjack, learn currency and numbers!
drslowFree MemberFixed term contract? End it a week early so she’s out of pocket a weeks pay. Though you shouldn’t have let it get that far if your responsible for her.
drslowFree MemberIf your after strength, hit squats, bench press, deadlifts, lat rows, shoulder presses. Try the Stronglifts 5×5 program. Fitness, well you’ve got your bike.
drslowFree MemberGreat watch, running seems to give an accurate HR, biking doesn’t for me. I think its maybe wrist position but always seems far lower than what i think I’m at.
drslowFree Memberif you want to be accurate use the chest strap. Ive got the Fenix HR, running seems fine, cycling not so good. Maybe its the wrist position but just doesn’t seem to accurate.
