A copy of The Producers. People wouldn’t be able to take Adolf seriously after that……

Hmmmm, I went through a messy divorce a few years back and we split the proceeds from the house as follows:-

We each took back our deposit. Anything else was split 50:50. So kind of not what your ex is trying to do.

Solicitors and Judge thought this was fair.

The counter argument is you need to work out exactly who has spent what over the last 14 years. A deposit is just part of a financial commitment.

These things are never easy. Use a solicitor – but don’t get into tit-for-tat arguments over stuff like this.

In the grand scheme of life it’s not worth it.

Another vote for bath or shower jizz.

Just make sure it’s your own peeps before experimenting too much.

    Isn’t this a non question?

People see the directors cut after the narrated original and knowing Ridley Scott’s explanation. So the real question is – would the directors cut be a decent stand alone film? And, by what the original test screen audiences thought, no it wouldn’t.

So is it better or is it just a part of the journey.

Personally, I like both versions. The narration adds texture to some scenes.

I went and got one. Not sure I agree with the size comments – its pretty big.

For £60 it seems a good buy. I’m certainly happy that its swallowed three existing tool boxes and my bike tools and still has room for more.

    Besides. It’s red n shiney.

Take the Staten island ferry. It’s free and gives an ok view of the statue of liberty and the wall street end of manhattan. Just loop around at the other end and come straight back.

Grand Central Station is free. Great architecture and some good cheap NY food down there.

Central Park is also nice. There’s ften stuff going in at weekends. Baseball or concerts and it’s all free

It doesn’t have to be an expensive trip.

Food wise – Houlihans are plentiful and not a bad price.

Yes. Another plus one for coaching.

Master Jedi spotted the mincers mistakes in my riding yesterday and with two quick bits of advice had me flying tabletops without trauma.

Cheers for helping me find my wings again 🙂

I think it can run upto 160 but Mike recommends 130 for general pooling hence the thought that lyrics would be good.

    Hmmmmm,

I’ve got Marzocchi Z150’s at the moment. I quite fancy Lyrics to get the adjustability of travel so it’s not too wayward on the climbs.

    Time to go shopping……..

Take your riding back to basics. Do ickle tiny drops and jumps and just build up.

I was once a far more confident rider – but ended up with a three year gap from riding as my (now ex) wife didn’t like me enjoying life.

It’s taken me a year almost to get any sort of speed back and I still can’t jump anything like I used to. But I don’t let it stress me. I enjoy my riding and just go with a “it’ll get better with time” attitude.

    Mincing is underrated anyway…..

A lot of other forums have Post Count and Member Since against the members name. Don’t see any harm in that.

The modding of late does seem to have made it a ‘safer’ place to post. To be honest the nonsense around Big Hitters was putting me off posting as it did seem to be a self proclamation of greatness.

Just keep up the good work modding. I don’t see this site as over modded, but I do think it had been under modded for some time.

Try this piece of witch craft.

Pop your wheel out and put two business cards (or similar) between the pads. Push the wheel back in so there’s a card either side of the rotor. Then zip tie the brake lever back – as though you’re yanking the brake on.

Leave them like this overnight, snip the zip tie, and remove the cards.

I’ve no idea why this works – but it seems to.

Find something to put it in. Either a pillow case or, if it’s big, a tack bag from an equestrian shop. It stops any bad accidents with Kevlar getting caught in the drum.

Done mine loads of time. Hose it first to get rid of sand and grit and then just bung it in.

I’d not use fabric conditioner. Or at worst use half the normal amount.

I do want to be able to pedal up hill too. The plan is for an aggressive trail bike that can go up and down.

The angle / face of view was what was troubling me. Knowing how big the balloon was on the ground wouldn’t help, you’d need to know how big it looked from the view you’d have of it while in the air..

Also air pressure as it rose would make a difference to the shape.

I appreciate the school boy error involved in letting a lady talk maths, but she is lovely, and i would not be too sorry if someone could sort this. But, my knowledge of maths suggests she’s likely stuffed.

I’ll start another thread “how to tell a loved one they’ve had a stupid idea”

Are these meant to be credible suggestions?

No – they’re what I came up with in ten seconds of thought.

If I was sat wishing for death day-in day-out I’d have found the solution by now. I guess that was what I was trying to say. Where there’s a will there’s a way.

You guys do understand that the cases decided today were for people suffering from “locked in syndrome”. In which they are completely paralysed and certainly unable to administer any drug or substance to themselves. How would you suggest a person with such a condition could end their own life ? As they are not suffering from a terminal illness its quite likely that a PM would be performed if they do die suddenly and therefore anybody who might have administered such a drug risks prosecution

He can communicate. So he could suggest his wife takes him up Beachy Head and leaves the brakes off his wheelchair (accidentally) for instance.

Or he could ‘drown’ in the bath.

Or his stereo that he loves listening to in the bath could topple in.

There’s plenty of ways. Now he’s made a fuss over wanting to die, it just means there’ll be an increased focus on him if he does.

That was the point I was trying to make. I’m not for one minute suggesting the above are dignified, nice, appealling, or anything like that. I’m just suggesting there are ways.

It is a complex ethical issue.

To make it legal would require such a complex set of rules that it would almost never apply, or to be completely relaxed to the extent it would rapidly be abused.

Assessing objectively why someone wants to die is impossible. Unless someone can define a validatable way of assessing an individuals situation then the debate will continue.

I feel sorry for the chap. But, and I’ll be potentially controversial here, he’d probably be better off shutting his trap and just getting hold of some stuff that would sort him. It could all be done to look like an accident.

Or – he could make a stronger protest and stop eating. Show that ending it is his ultimate desire, and show that he’s being forced to suffer further by not being allowed to take an overdose.

I had a similar problem when I moved into my current house.

I launched a war against them. But then I am lucky as I have a sloping garden and no chance of a pellet leaving the property.

The law does say you’re supposed to try every other preventative measure before killing them. I didn’t really try that hard…….

But, as said, they breed like rabbits – well flying rabbits. In the end I took the tree down they were roosting in. I went from shooting two a week to two a year overnight. It’s drastic, but it’s really the only way to get rid of the problem you’re suggesting.

Meh. Tyres fail. Tubes puncture. UST tyres burp.

I was a big non believer of tubeless and have just come back from two weeks in the Alps and have almost no issues.

Got a puncture one day (out of 14) and didn’t notice it until it was totally flat and the bike at me off. With a tube it’d have spat me off faster.

I’m actually very convinced that having both the dh and xc bikes as tubeless is the right thing. But that’s for me.

    Holidays
    Kit
    Repairs
    Clothes
    Petrol to get places

    Cool.

A plan is coming together 🙂

So far people either want a DH day (fine) or a sociable meander around the valleys (also fine).

I reckon we can hook a couple of good rides up and there seems plenty of us that’ve ridden there before so there should be good (new) trail knowledge.

    Quite excited.

Right – so it looks like we can have a mini STW DH day and a mini STW XC/AM day

Email is in profile if you want to join in.

It’d be good to ride with a few new people over there.

Tom – Duffmiver – you don’t seem to have emails in your profile.

If you want to meet up send me a message (email is in my profile now). There’s looking likely to be a mini-STW ride out there.

No – they’ll charge you in the local morzine clinic. They’re not like GPs here and will stitch you and even plaster minor fractures.

It was 20Euros a stitch last time I took someone in there.

Right – I’ll fire a few emails round tonight when I’ve got more time.

duffmiver – Chatel isn’t far away at all (in fact it’s a nice ride between the resorts). You can go direct via the bike park or take a more obscure route over the Mossettes and down through Morgins (good DH course there).

RandomJ – I do like those watches but it’s not going to give me a lift back into resort if I snap my forks off, nor will it carry me off the mountain if I snap myself 😉

Germolene – just try any old travel insurance BUT make sure you get covered for Mountain Biking (usually under a skiing policy exception). It used to be included in most standard policies but they cottoned onto the fact that it was costing them a fortune in ‘copter rescues so it’s been made an exception. I’ve mainly used Nationwide with the additional cover.

Snowcard were crap when I used them (needed to make a claim and they weaseled out of paying).

Your E111 won’t work in GP surgeries either if you need just a few stitches or the like. You’re better off paying cash and claiming back when you get home.
