I did mine when I was 27 and had no wife or kids then so i had the time. Work paid for it (I wouldnt have had £12k a year for 3 years to spend on it). I finished it and got made redundant in a year! Anyway I worked for myself for a year then got a job with a big company on the back of having the MBA. I have changed jobs twice since, always with the MBA being cited as the main reason they interviewed me in the first place, and the salary I can get is way higher than if I didnt have one. Im at the top of the figures quoted above basic – I wouldnt have been on the radar if I just had my BAHons like everybody else. Oh and I am classed as ‘middle management’. Im glad I did mine (even though its questionable what I actually learnt)

I leave a roof mounted Thule thingy (the one you turn to clamp shut – defo the best type)on all the time, and fit a Thule Eurocarrier (three bike) if im taxiing my mates about.

Roof one is much easier to use IF you can lift your bike above your head, Towbar one seems more secure but is very very heavy on its own and a faff to install, remove, store away. On the roof you get wind noise and mud all over the roof. On the back you get limited boot access, corroded spoke nipples in winter…

If I were having one option, it would be the roof

I did KM for three years, didnt do any of the gradings but progressed along nicely and did a lot of seminars and that. I enjoyed it but the nature of it is repetition and i got bored with it eventually and gave up. You wont get taught any of the ‘offensive’ (military) side of it by a proper KM instructor it will be purely self defense and techniques to end assaults as quickly as possible (think about attacking eyes, bollocks that sort of stuff). Some people think its a bit underhand in that respect, but getting physically assaulted is rarely solved through Marquess of Queensbury rules!

Some KM instructors include boxing and kickboxing sparring elements including the rules of MMA and those sports as a secondary to the defensive techniques as well, but if you want to spar regularly, take up one of those sports. KM also teaches the mental approach to dealing with assault – which you may not get at MMA type sports as such because essentially they are sports with rules and referees (however anyone who is good at these sports will also be good in a fight generally as they are conditioned to it mentally and physically).

The final thing I would say, and the thing i really thought was good at KM, was the multiple attacker scenarios and techniques to deal with this. I say techniques because most likely you will lose but there are ways to get out of it if your skilled / confident / quick / strong or a combination of these.

Give it a go its usually pretty cheap and im sure you will get something out of it – oh and purchase a good strong ‘box’ (groin guard)!

My SS rotors wore out in about a week – to be fair they offered to examine them for a possibly warranty but wanted the pads as well – which I had thrown away.

Buy cheap buy twice I suppose

Its not breaking bumps its braking bumps and if a £1700 long travel frame cant take some braking bumps im not interested in one.

Also guy in my local shop said that Yeti were warrantying any frame that had the issue of tyre rubbing the frame as it was a fault ( I was asking cos the SB66 carbon was on the wall and it looked really nice).

Yeti are becoming the Crank Bros of frame builders – look great, dont work

To be fair to crank bros it seems like its only their spectactularly failed foray into dropper posts that went wrong – oh and the freehubs in their fancy wheels – and the crap flat pedals they make.

Apart from that they seem like every other bike component company. Only three times the price.

Got my Joplin4 over a year ago, second hand, been away once for a refurb – about 20 degrees of side to side play in it, and needs a new cable (Wilko’s, 92p by the way) every fifteen minutes but apart from that, its alright.

To do what? Protect it a bit from rucksack straps when you get back on your bike or to protect it in a crash? Body armour wont save it I dont think if you hit it hard enough to break

I got a set yesterday in Nottingham they had a few sets in and they fit perfectly to my 61plate Sloda Superb estate – can anyone recommend me a decent bike carrier for them??

My son did the same at the same age. His had disappeared over a 6 month period but in the meantime its worth getting them to a speech therapist because you never know, and anyway its free (despite 6 week waiting time in Nottingham). In the meantime keep a diary of what his speech does and when he does it – it could be linked to certain times of the day or events and this will help the speech therapist to diagnose him and make recomendations – when I took my son guess what, his speech was perfect for the whole hour!

I wouldnt worry too much at all but its always worth getting him checked out by a professional.

I was overbiked on my Nomad, which is why I left my V10 at home, but I took my Nomad because my other bike, a Cannondale Synapse (google it) would have been under biked.

It was a really good day out and I dont think a single person didnt enjoy it or care what its title was.
