Sounds liek a bug in the graph code to not show -ve numbers!

Can you change your units to Farenheit and see what happens?

Swift was 27lbs when I last weighed it. That’s “ready to ride” with seat pack, pump etc. attached.

There’s a useful thread on yacf here on Ti road bikes.

I use one on my bars, as JustRide says great for playing in the woods.

Personally found it too heavy when mounted on my helmet

Can you cycle through that underpass at Blackfriars btw?

Yes, if you’re going East try to take he middle of the left hand lane until half way down the slope as there’s a nasty sunken drain that can catch you unawares.

Would you ask if anyone had owned a 26er and hated it?

Just like 26ers they’re not all the same. The wheel size is only one part of how it’ll feel.

Go out on the test ride. Then try a few others too.
That way you’ll be able to make your own mind up.

Go singlespeed! Then you won’t worry about the shifter

I did it last year. Fine on a hardtail snglespeed, had to push up a couple of hills but then so did the gearies. Would have preferred a longer gear than 32×18 for the long (30 mile?) stretch of the Downs Link.

I don’t have any off-road specifc lights or any road-specific lights. I just have bike lightsthat I move from bike to bike as required.

I also find a helmet light a good ‘attention getter’ on the road, aquick glance at the car about to pull out in front of you reminds them that you’re there.

And until I can afford (or even want) a setup that is as bright as that of most cars I won’t worry too much about the lumens that I push out.

Why is it a fail? I’m open to advice.

Well, what looks like your first post was a blunt invitation to read your blog.

A better approach might have been to introduce yourself, put a little bit about what your blog’s about and maybe a link to it.

I, for one, won’t read a blog just because I see a post here on it but if the subject interests me I might.

Depending on how remote and length of ride I’d have the above plus:

    Waterproof
    Map
    GPS

TK despite the ‘growth’ on the rear wheel (which I’m sure can be filed down) a lovely looking bike. What is it?

I ‘discovered’ arm warmers this year. Great piece of kit especially for spring and autumn. My commute takes me in early morning and I leave mid-afternoon.. Morning is too cool for short sleeves and afternoon to warm for long so a great compromise

+1 to doing a course. I did one several years ago and was surprised how hard it was to find a buried one. That was with older tech but if it’s to be of any use you should be able to do a search in the heat of the moment.

OK, my heart says Hope, my head Surly and my wallet Superstar 🙂

If I go for a Surly it’ll need a freehwheel (I think :?:). I can’t, though I’d love to, run to a White Industries one, so how long would a ‘standard’ e.g Shimano freewheel last me in England’s mud?

With the ‘dodgy ticker’ I’d ask your doctor rather than the well meaning folks on here 🙂

But here’s my ha’penny’s worth. Stick to regular exercise and try to slowly build up the length of the sessions that you do.

I’d go for a Brooks. May take a while to ‘break in’ (although some are comfy out of the box) but definitely worth it in the long run.

    But…

Saddles are a very personal thing, everybody above has recommended something different so try some first if you can.

Then no more bullying of my wife behind my back, my mother in law’s sense of ‘humour’ (she cackled for 5 minutes when I said Sainsbury’s were out of milk – WTF?)

A good tip I was given is to use the same length spanner at home as you carry on the road. Otherwise you tighten the nuts with a 12″ spanner as tight as you can in the workshop and then can’t shift them when you’re out with you’re tiny lightweight spanner.

another question though, what is the best chainring size to use, combined with how many teeth at the back?
I’m planning 32 with 16 at the back, but would like to know what is generally considered as the best setup, not sure whether it’s too specific a question, to ask so ‘generally’ but would appreciate the help

Really depends where you ride, how fit/strong you are, whether you prefer to spin, how much walking you want to do etc..

But 32×16’s a good starting point

drofluf – the forks are on backwards….. the brake goes behind the fork leg

Not on that fork 🙂 It’s a Roadhog. Less risk of ejection under braking (and let’s not open that discussion in this thread), easier to fit mudguards and it had the same dimensions as the fork it replaced. but thanks for pointing it out

Rationale behind it here[/url]. You need to scroll down a little.
