I’ve got a Swift and Peregrine which both have the same EBB and had no issues with either. No special maintenance, just remove and regrease periodically

Then 5l if you can get it up to 60psi before the safety valve pops or 10l at 45psi (I think)

I’m guessing that you’re trying to use it to quickly seat a tubeless tyre?

In which case you’ll need to get it up to 60psi so that when you inflate the tyre you’ll effectively be doubling the volume (not quite as tyre is 5.5l rather than 5l)and therefore halving the pressure.

If that’s not your goal then ignore me 🙂

Bought a digital gauge last week (Halfords – £14.99) and did a quick comparison. The track pump and digital gauges agreed above 30/40 psi but below that there was quite a divergence.

It really is as easy as delux suggests! Even I can do it!

    Who would It be?.
Band : The National (Followed by Radiohead)
    Artist : Bruce Springsteen

Saw the thread title and though “has got to be The National” only to find I’d been beaten to it!

If you ask the same question on a more road orientated forum you’ll start a religious war :).

They both come in at a similar ‘quality’ level. Key difference is in the way the shifters work and feel. FWIW I had Campag on my first modern road bike and Shimano on the next one. When I switched to Shimano there was a short learning curve but I soon got used to it.

As others have said try and find some in the flesh and see how they feel

    Singular Peregrine?

In my wife’s words (who doesn’t cycle) “that looks like a proper bike”

Mine runs an Alfine without a problem, comfortable to ride, looks great. What else do you want?

We paid £2500 for ours, but that included moving it from the kitchen to the bedroom above. As it was directly above the old site the pipes had to just be re-run slightly. British Gas quoted £1500 more!

    Boiler was a Worcester Bosch

Why stop at Evans? For that we should boycott all bike shops. That’ll teach ’em!

Anyone see a flaw in that?

    No?

Good. No more buying bike stuff. Wait until they all come to us begging for mercy

Let it dry properly in the warm, proof ride top and bottom, tighten if necessary. Like others I’ve used mine in all weathers without issue but they need a little tlc.

My Singular Swift. Most fun bike I’ve ridden.

Run it rigid with slicks as a commuter or with a suspension fork off road. Alfine or single-speed

Who has WI 18t freewheels in stock?

You could try e-mailing Charlie the Bikemonger? That’s where I got mine from

32:18 on a 29er here – the wheel size does make a little difference. An brake front and back!

Think it would be great! Then we could have even more ways to flame people! “why you posting about 29ers on the 26er forum”

    Bring it on!!

Bought a road bike for fitness then rediscovered mountain biking. Now the road bike gets mainly used for commuting.

Nice. Made me realise I live in the wrong part of the world and ride the wrong kind of bike.

Have you got a pump on the downtube? My pump had twisted round and my shoe was catching the inflator tube

Isn’t it that since teeth are a constant size there’s a direct relation between the number of teeth and the circumference of the ring

Look up! Something went over your head

    Doh!

    I have a hangover

That’s my excuse and Im sticking to it 😀

surely grinding teeth off will make no difference, since it is not thr number of teeth, but the size of the ring that affects the gearing? a 16 tooth ring, with 4 teeth ground off is still the same size as a 16, just with less teeth

If that’s the case, why are singlespeed ratios always quoted in teeth rather than ring diameter then? I think you maybe need to think a bit harder before posting

That would be my first guess. It does turn off when the battery gets flat.

Try another set or a set of non-rechargeables

I asked this question in an LBS and was told “mountain bikers use the rear brake more”.

I’m not convinced as I tend to use the front more.

Perhaps more crud is thrown on to the rear disc?

Had a very good meal in the Carlucchios there. One of the best in the chain that I’ve been too.

The Steak Frites at Côte is very good as well. Simple bistro food but good value

    Prepare to get hooked!

I went singlespeed because I grew impatient of Shimano delaying the delivery of the Alfine 11 speed for my new build. A couple of months later when the shop called to say the Alfine was in I told them I was sticking with singlespeed.

Don’t be afraid to experiment with different gear ratios.

And don’t be surprised when then the opposite sex start finding you more attractive

Your bike cost how much? I could almost get a new <insert component of choice> for that!

    Look harder!!

Before you take the tyre off mark where it is relative to the valve, that way you can isolate where to focus your search by matching up with where the hole in the tube is. I’ve had splinters of glass/flint/whatever that buried themselves into the tyre carcass and really needed teasing out

Well a happy ending! And a cautionary tale.

Took it round to a friend’s who put his bolt extractor (Easy Out) on it. Just as we were about to give up it shifted!

Then he asked how the EBB worked. Simple I said just put an Allen key in and twist. Nada, nothing, that was seized as well :(. Fortunately a little persuasion and it shifted. We pushed it out and all the grease had dried out. Think I need to add regular EBB removal to my maintenance list. Bike was new about 15 months ago and I spent 6 months of last year abroad so it only saw light use.

If you have it too tight you’ll destroy the bearings in your bb or hub.

    Don’t ask me how I know this….

Had a 2007 version of the Ribble. Can’t say it was noticeably flexy but it was my first road bike in 20 years! Certainly comfortable for long rides.
