When it arrives, it arrives, not going to worry about something I’m not in control of, that would be a waste of energy.

    Totally agree!

Thanks thought it was OK but as my last set only lasted 50 miles due to my mechanical ineptness I thought I’d check first :)

Well I wish I had my fatbike for that route – ideal tool for the job.

Very muddy, lot of sections unrideable on skinny tyres. Rear QR snapped 5 mies from home :( but another rider called it in and a mile later the van was there to take me to the finish.

As maxtorque says a great day out!

Another vote for and Easy Out – the bolt that holds my brake pads in suffered a similar fate. 10 minutes with an Easy Out and it was free. On;y damage was to the bolt.

I’m not but went for a ride starting from West Isley last night and saw that the signs are out. You will definitely be getting stung by nettles and scratched by brambles, I was!

    I have a cunning plan!

I’ll just let the faster riders crush them out of the way for me :)

Take a look at this website for up to date information on what to do. Possibly you might need to muzzle your dog for 6 months till you can prove the dog is now safe. A qualified behaviourist review would be useful, but be careful with who you go with if you go down this route. I’d advise on looking for someone who works with a positive approach.

One good piece of advice though is to inform your insurance company immediately and certainly don’t admit any liability.

    http://www.nidirect.gov.uk/controlling-your-dog-in-public

Useful link but it’s for Northern Ireland. Not sure where the OP is based…. I’m guessing that the principles are similar but as it also refers to dog licences there are probably some differences.

Should be all being well. Was hoping to be on my fatty but it’s still on a boat being rowed here.

broadly acceptable, he struggled a little but he didnt cry
What kind of ride was this?

Think that was the ‘initiation ceremony’ for the OP’s group, not the ride :D

Relax, he probably just fancies you. One evening you’ll have a puncture, he’ll stay behind to help you fix it, your eyes will meet over the muddy upturned wheel and POW!!

Bearing in mind that you’ll get more conflicting replies asking how to use a GPS than if you ask “what tyre?” :D

Think you want to create it as a route rather than a track in Basecamp. Tracks and routes are treated differently in a GPS. The way I think of it a track records where you’ve been whereas a route tells you where to go. So a route looks at the next point in the list and tells you which way to go, either directly or via a road if you have rout able maps and follow roads enabled.

In use depending on the unit it can be more complex, for example if you’re way off your route your unit may point you to the nearest point on the route rather than the next one if that makes sense?

    Hope this helps.

Not sure exactly what you’re looking for? A drop bar bike that will run road and cross? In that case I’d say no problem, just change the tyres as appropriate.

If you’re thinking of taking an mtb (in my head 29er equates to a mountain rather than a road bike but that’s just me perhaps :)?) and putting drops on it for road use it’s a little more problematic as the sizing will likely only be optimal for either road or mtb. You can improve it by swapping stems but it will still be a compromise.

EDIT Or as teh others have said rather more succinctly, just get a cross bike

Thanks – managed to lever it out eventually with a flat bladed screwdriver. Spoke to the LBS who recommended more brute force and ignorance which seemed to do the trick

No, I think a chicken would be too heavy for a buzzard to fly away with.

Another happy BB7 user here. Got a set on my road bike, another set earmarked for the Puffin, a spare set in the spares box and one on the front of my hack bike.

I use the Expedition version of the bagman which fixes permanently – I don’t need the quick release feature of the SQR plus it’s a lot cheaper!

+1 for an additional tube and pants at work.

I wear glasses for reading but not riding so keep a spare pair at work.

I bought a digital gauge from Halfords for about £15. But with fatter tyres I find it more of a ‘feel’ thing as it’s very dependent on conditions.

EDIT: Just found a link: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&productId=566833&catalogId=10151

When he was about 3 I told my son that that the ice cream van rings its bell to tell people that it’s run out of ice cream. Years later he asked why people were queuing up by the van with its bell on

Oxfordshire. To be clear there were only about 150 riders in total but generally round my way I’ve had positive interactions with horseriders.

    drofluf

Contrast that with the reaction of a horserider I met on a local and much smaller sportive.

As he was passed by about the fiftieth cyclist he smiled at me and said “looks like I chose the wrong route today”

I had an Alfine 8 with 32:20 on my Pugsley which got me up most things, only having to get off and push in deep snow or very slippery mud. If you want it spinny I’d be inclined to go 32:22 or even 30:22 if you can get a chainring. I was looking for more of a compromise between spinny and cruising along so kept a ‘longer’ gear.

Also depends on your fitness and the terrain you’ll be riding on

    drofluf

Guess it must depend where you are, I’ve had no problems with Yodel, either here or my previous address

    Have to say I’m disappointed!

Ordered on Thursday and the stuff’s just arrived.

What are they thinking? Delivering on a Saturday and interrupting my weekend. Now I’m going to have to drag myself off the sofa and fit the parts to my bike so I can go riding tomorrow. It’s ruined all my plans: I was going to spend tomorrow writing a long rant about how poor their service is, now I’ve got to enjoy a bike ride instead.

Actually I feel it’s personal: I’ve used them loads of times with no trouble: the goods have arrived as ordered and promptly whereas other people have problems with their orders and get to rant about it whereas I can’t.

    IT’S JUST NOT FAIR!!!
