Get a Park Tool VC-1 to fit the valve core and use your existing pump?

Drofluf – Interesting, would you be able to measure the minimum height to the seat clamp for me? I think I need about 185mm maximum the TMARs was about 195mm

190mm from the top of the bottom rail (if that makes sense) of the seat clamp to the bottom of the lock mechanism. That would put the post fully into the frame. For me the RSP is slightly out of the frame whereas I had the TMARS fully in.

The RSP is the same as the TMARS AFAIK so I would have the same length issues. The older style ones might be ok, with the cable coming staigh out, but I like the idea of infinite adjustment too, I did run a TMARS for a couple of weeks and would have liked something between the top two settings, for techy bumpy climbs

No I’ve got both, and they’re different. The RSP is a little shorter, whilst it’s based on the same principles as the TMARS is better built with a different release mechanism

Went there in 2010, beautiful island with lots of potential but…

Had a look in a hire shop that had looked goof online and found a collection of poorly maintained BSOs.

I may have been unlucky and things may have moved.

    Where are you staying?

@themightymowgli Difference is we’ve chosen to use the forum to communicate with strangers.

@ricky1 for the record I do generally nod at passing cyclists, but don’t get upset if I don’t get a response, and try to respond back but sometimes my mind is elsewhere and I do neither.

End of the say its nice to get a response back but it shouldn’t be mandatory.

Never really understood why I’m ‘supposed’ to talk to a complete strangest just because I’ve chosen the same mode of transport as them?

Or should I be flagging down the next car driver I see just to say hello?

I’d try fixing it first with a bit of vulcanising solution and possibly a patch

Just done this, I’ll see what happens

    Thanks all.

Took it off and gave it a clean, a lot of fluid between rimstrip and rim. Eventually found a pinhole in the rimstrip :( so new rimstrip time.

Whats peoples experience of this in wet muddy singletrack on the Front (riding SS)?

Scary! Very prone to letting go without warning. Now running it on the back and a lot happier!

Guess the clue’s in the name really :)

    Around 25psi

And what does the name mean?

Let me Google that for you

I would hate to offend any locals or be the subject of fun poked at me

It’s OK Suggsey, it’s very supportive round here, no one pokes fun at anyone.

Noltae, may I pick your brains?

As you’re obviously a style guru with impeccable taste in these matters I’m sure I can’t go wrong if I follow you’re guidance.

I’m planning a short ride tomorrow, about 17 miles but not sure what to wear. I was up all night worrying but hopefully you can advise me and I’ll have a good night’s sleep tonight. So Lycra or baggies? Or even regular clothes. And my blue top or the green.

You’ll get used to it. I’ve got it on one bike, hated the first few rides and until this thread have now forgotten about it.

Is there a ‘magic gear’ or simply hit and miss?

Doesn’t it have an EBB like the Swift and other Singulars? In which case you can choose your desired ratio.

I asked my LBS if they could fit a headset for me. Their response? “Sorry, we’re fully booked for 3 weeks, but you can borrow the headset press if you like”. Similar story when I needed my steerer shortened: “Really busy but if you just bring the forks in I’ll do it while you wait”

    Top guys!

Got one on the front tubeless on Mavic TN719s, very happy with it.

Probably be even happier if I’d mounted it the right way round! (Don’t ask!)

Well that’s a veeeeeery nice looking bike right there.

Any chance of a “first impressions” ride quip ??

Put mine on the previous page :)

    But here’s my second impressions

My only fat frame of reference is the Pugsley but in comparison the Puffin is more nimble. It felt that the Pugsley wanted to go in a straight line whereas the Puffin will go where it’s pointed. Took it through some twisty singletrack yesterday and was very surprised how easy it was, didn’t feel I was fighting the bike into the turns. Bit of a tendancy for the front end to lift when climbing the steep stuff, but that may well be down to my technique as I mostly ride singlespeed so am standing on those hills whereas the Puffin’s got gears so I could sit and spin. Very stable at speed, holding the line through the ruts and bumps, in fact the bikes probably more capable than me in that respect.

Get that shonky seatpost off it though! And bars higher than saddle fail.

Only post I’ve got that’s long enough!

Saddle’s too low in that picture and I’m going to lose a couple of spacers.

Yes it’s a medium and I’m 5’8″. Pretty much a perfect fit for me.

Just back from my first ride!

Well worth the wait. Need to fine tune a few things but I think Sam achieved his goal which was “to provide a lively and fun bike for general trail riding”.

Was really impressed with it we had four punctures the other evening and they were fixed in less time than it would have taken to put a tube in.

After a bit of research I think I have narrowed down to Genisis Caribou or Singular Puffin.
    Are they similar geometry
    Any other thoughts

Don’t know about the Caribou but the Puffin’s geometry is on the Singular website.

The Tubeless Repair that mactheknife referred to is awesome! We had 4 tubeless punctures between us last night and they were fixed in minutes, far faster than putting a tube in or changing a tube. I was sceptical but the tyre was still inflated this morning!

For the ‘dropper curious’ it’s a good introduction if you can get it for around £50. I’ve had one for 3 months now and am pretty pleased with it.

It’s pretty agricultural in construction, the remote in particular but once set up is fine. Gave it a first service in the week, 15 minute job

    Is this normal?

Obsessing about the size of your ‘post’? No, most men are happy with what they’ve got :D

I’d say that a few hundredths of a millimetre is within normal manufacturing tolerances
