Avoiding the risk of starting another thread about this subject, I have just gone through the same thing.

    5 year check up tomorrow.

    13 years since radiotherapy/surgery/chemotherapy.

    Still riding!

I was in the car travelling on Thursday pm, from East Midlands area to East Anglia area.

For the whole afternoon there was no DAB reception at all.

    FM reception no problem.

Never known FM to be off air for such a long period.

Spotted an error in my write up:

So to use this in the lower position, L should be read from the outside (right hand side). The wide is then ‘pointing forwards’ to unload the chain.

Explanation. The wide is helping the chain onto the jockey wheel.

Bit of investigation following last nights late panic.

None of this is actually mentioned in the SRAM service document.

The jockey wheels are marked U (upper) and L (lower).

The narrow jockey wheel is marked U only.

The wide narrow jockey wheel is marked U on one side and L on the other side. Can be used in upper or lower positions.

So to use this in the lower position, L should be read from the outside (right hand side). The wide is then ‘pointing forwards’ to unload the chain.

The sealed bearings have washers with a spigot that fit over and the pivot bolt passes through to fix the two arm pieces together.
The lower spigot washers are the same.
The upper spigot washers are different. The right side is the same as the lower, but the left side has a larger inside diameter. This sits over the raised thread in the left side arm piece.

Bearings washed out and re-packed with fresh grease.

Chain to wash and re-lube next. Will use hot chain wax in a tin. (Found a tin in the motorbike stuff).

    Hope this helps someone.

I made an alarm system for my garage/workshop.

Used magnetic contacts on up & over front door and side door, with foil strip on the 2 small d. glazed windows.

Connected together with a loop connector, meaning that all the time the ‘loop’ is connected the alarm is healthy, as soon as the loop is broken, by a magnetic switch releasing on door opening, or a foil tearing if the glass get broken then the alarm is tripped on.

2 110db sounders inside, 1 motorbike horn outside with a strobe light.

Put a delay timer in for exit after setting, and another in for a delay of 15 secs to enter and switch off.

Controlled by a key switch, with a 12v battery on float charge, all mounted in the loft, out of reach of scrote.

    Cost <£50

Repeat after me ‘ Keep it in the ring, Keep it in the ring’.

If the existing socket is a ring, then you will have 6 wires to lengthen – 2 live, 2 neg, 2 earth.

I would kindly suggest that if you are on here asking, then you are not competent or confident about doing this.

    Get a sparky in.

MOT from May 2018 is supposed to check for retro-fitted LED’s.

If your car did not have LED’s fitted by the manufacturer, then you will get  fail.

Also, LED fitted into filament bulb lens WILL dazzle on-coming traffic. Experience shows too many of those on the road.

    Silent compressors:

    http://www.jun-air.com/product_overview_quiet_air.aspx

    Very expensive.

    https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/quiet-run-compressor-2/

Had 2 of these. Useless. 1st one failed and replaced under warranty. 2nd one failed just outside (few weeks) original 12 month warranty. Machine Mart would not repair under warranty. They wanted me to pay. They quoted more than it would cost to buy a new one. Not impressed.

Judging by the amount of ‘entitled’ prats driving around with plate letters spaced and/or fixings strategically placed making up words, names etc, then it must be an offence that the police rate as low on the priority, until said car goes through a speed camera and they can’t identify it.

    Ooh.

Got a use for the solar panel, to put on the top of the container where we store the towing tractor at the sailing club, and would be able to keep the battery topped up.

    Don’t need the battery.

    Interested.

A tip that I learnt for scribing in end panels and worktops is to cut oversize first, offer the panel up and then using a suitable thickness plastic window spacer* size up the gap and then use that spacer and a sharp pencil, scribe (mark) the panel, then cut. (Use a jig saw with a fine blade, it will probable be an out of square or wibbly cut)

Before then cutting the front to size, make an allowance for the thickness of the iron on edging tape. (If required).

(* I keep an 2 litre ice-cream tub with window spacers for all thicknesses. Always handy for levelling up etc, etc)

Get a kitchen fitter to fit the worktop. He will have the proper tooling jig and a 1/2″ router.

On a recent visit to one of my suppliers, I found that the name, company, date, reg no etc fill in boxes were blacked out and hence I could not see what I was writing.

When I asked what was that all about, the line trotted out was Data Protection…….

So, when I next see one of these I will just scribble something, anything just in order to protect my true identity – My data protected 100%.

Only 1 supplier out of many I must add. Obviously an over zealous employee inventing ‘data protection’ where none is probably not actually needed.

I’ve not looked at the video, but in ANY circumstance when another vehicle is flashing/indicating/waving, the vehicle changing lanes has the ultimate responsibility to check before moving, and not just taking another drivers word that its clear to proceed.

Not sure that many small powder coaters could handle work pieces up to 6m long.

Remember, the powder needs to be applied to a ‘warm’ item, and then heated in order to cure the powder off to its glossy uniform finish.

An oven is required for both these processes, along with a 6m plus long powder application area.

They will be around, perhaps trying companies that handle architectural parts or window frame parts, shop front parts etc.

The Michelin tyre factory in Dundee is closing because ‘they make the wrong tyre’ for the current markets (bit of bad business research there), but being undercut by cheaper Asian imports…..just the very countries that are going to be our best trade deal partners come 29 March 2019.

I suggest that we will be buying more from them than they will ever buy from us.

I can foresee how this will once again open the debate about licencing/insurance/number plates etc on bikes.

Those people ‘winging’ it at 20mph on pavements/on the roads without lights or insurance will be the main contributors to the opening of the debate.

In a completely non-legal speak answer.

If the letter drops on the mat, and the requirement to attend is made, would the actual law being used be clearly stated in the document?

Is it too late to challenge at that point, otherwise you are trying to prevent ‘something’ happening, but without knowing the legality of that ‘something’ and which law is being used to support that ‘something’.

    Yep. Ham radio.

Probably 4  (low band VHF) or 6 metres.

I’ve got 1 aerial about 24″ on the car. Covers VHF and UHF.

Go for the biggest air tank that you can afford. Also bare in mind the pump size. ie. How quickly it can pump the tank up.

Typically, 50 litre tank will empty VERY quickly just ‘blowing water off chains’, and you might be standing around whilst it pumps up.

    Appeal.

The ‘system’ that they are using is open to continuing errors by many motorists to come.

If the registration number is not entered then the machine should not be printing the ticket.

Effectively, they are printing and issuing a ticket that does not meet their published terms and conditions.

By not challenging this, and letting the operator to continue means that they are knowingly allowing other motorists to fall into the same chargeable trap.

Now entering an incorrect reg number is a different case altogether.

Just lay a tea towel over the cage overnight. PIR will not see heat/movement.
