check her contract. if it says her normal working day is a Sunday, then she works Sundays. if she cannot work due to the store closing, then she can not be made to work Boxing Day. Fact. harsh to say, but your daughter is simply just being bullied into doing it  if i were you, i’d just ring up her Boss and explain who you are, tell them that (insert Daughters name) will not be working Boxing Day and that she will be back to work, as normal on X.

Have a nice Christmas anyway

Hope pro III it is then with a Surly cog. :-)

Another Question; can you change the free-hub body on a Hope hub to something stronger so the cog doesn’t bite too much?

i had a Metopolis, really wanted the old Kremlin but glad they stopped making it tbh as it was like 50L! The Metropolis was too big really and i just found i was loading shite i didn’t need so i sold it. i’ve got a nice Ortlieb one now and its much better. if it wasn’t for my other half having one, i’d get a Flapjack by Osprey…only £49 8O

you’ll be fine…only one climb will really trouble you and a few tight hair pin turns that you might dab on due to silly wheels. i’ve ridden it loads on a ss rigid 29er. :D

i’d love to find a club with a few fixed riders so i didn’t stand out so much. the jokes soon wear thin i can tell you.

i’m lucky that my job comes with a free train pass so i use that to get about on, or cycle to work. great where i live as i’m blessed with a large train network but if i was back living in the Lakes, i’d find it hard to not have a car and just cycle but i’d be sure to give it a try.

i’m car-less now but my old POLO was pretty good on fuel :? however my V70 used to cost me like, £80 to fill it up and i only got about 400miles out of a tank 8O . miss it but kinda glad it got written off when it did as i guess it would be a bugger to sell on now.

With all the talk of cheap Curtis. frames and old full suss. frames that little gem got missed by most folk id wager . i looked at one too and might still go for it but your question about rear tire is a yes…..a cx will fit fine but not a big one. drops might not work however i once met a chap who put drops on a standard Dew and it looked and worked fine. go for it….if you bottle it before you build it then it can always go back?!?

after speaking to them yesterday at the Tyne Tour and having the chance to take a good look too as they had all three pitched, i thought they were spot on.

the reason for the price is that they simply couldn’t make them any cheaper, they wanted to wait untill they were compleatly happy with the product befor sale you see, three years in the making.

The tents themselves apppear to be very well made and designed too with all the “i wish my tent had such and such” or “if only my tent had ?” in place. i also like very much the thought that if it fails, they will fix or replace free of charge but if i break it, they will also fix for free just i pay for postage.

yes it is a step away from the cheap prices that we all have come to know and love with Alpkit…..but they simply couldn’t make a cheap tent, who would but and trust one if it were say, £100 cheaper?

i personaly am not 100% convinced but would say 99%

i’ve had two for sale recently and a friend bought one, loves it and say’s it ride really well. Tried to get GF to buy the other but she felt it too long and too heavy.

the quality is very good and its also very balanced so in a SS set up, would make a lovely ride. The forks are nice and the wee bridge blends in nicely in the flesh. as stated above, the older Grey one’s looked nicer.

if anyone is intersted, i have the bars of one as my freind put on a flat bar, not sure if these are for sale from Trek, so £20 posted?

the own branded hubs from Planet X are great value and unless your bothered about looks, just get some Mavic or DT Swiss rims as stated above. if its for a town fixie, then deep section rims look great but on any distance they beat you up due to the stiffness on poor roads. if i were to be building some new wheels, i’d go with dura-ace low flange and open pro’s. :D

if the shop has to take off all your old crap (presume its a bit grubby too) and then index your new gear’s, i’d say £50 would be a good price.

Tokyo Fixed do a real nice SS frameset. Steamroller is a good call. Salsa Casserrrol is a poor choice as this year they have canti brakes?!

let us know what you plump for….
