had it redresed again today, looking ok, but i think i may have to change my forum name to “christhatstingslikefeck” after they cleaned it with saline.
it’s buzzing away nicely now, but that’s kind of a good thing, cos the last thing you wnat with a burn is one so deep htat it doesn’t hurt.

Advice from the doc was if i id it agian ( WHY THE **** WOULD I DO IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!) to find the bits of skin from inside my sock, clean thoroughly in saline, and replace over thesurface of the wound, as it’s the best thing to seal the wound with as it heals.

Biggest issue is i’ve jsut realised that cos i’m no longer gonna be able to put in the 12 hours a week minimum riding that i was, in prep for my 24 solo debut, i’ve gotta cut about 9-10,000 calories a week from my current diet or i’ll turn into Lisa Riley! So i can’t even hit the munchies while i’m sat here bored stupid!

struggling to make the photo appear in the message, linky only i’m afraid, unless someone else can sort it.

    Yep, smarts bit.
i do realise though that if i was a typical “ard-as-sh1te” notherner i’d just splash a bit of old spice or blue stratos on it, pull my sock back on, and go ride, but being a soft midlander, went to a and e , and got it dressed. nearly had to cut my stealths off: that would have been a disaster!
Getting bored now, keeping foot up.

Good luck Andy, feel for you buddy.
Life goes on though, no matter how shitty it seems at the time, and always seems to turn out OK in the end. You just gotta stick with it…….
    good luck.
Sounds to me like the n+1carbon bike rules applies to Andy in this situation…..

it’ll probably be the valve/motor for that shunts from hot water to heating. Get a plumber on to see it, you don’t want to go messing with that yourself, easy job for them.
Sometimes there is a manual override, but just call out the plumber/heating engineer.

try soem P7’s om your helmet. nice, effective and cheap way of trying out night racing without spending a fortune. £100 would equip a team of four handsomely! Beat that!

Buddy of mine was out running on cannock chase one night and found a suicide case hanging from a tree. he thought it was a dummy at first, then inspected closer when he stopped for a breather, and realsied the truth! He doesn’t ride or run alone in the dark anymore! And he sure as shit doesn’t let himself get dropped on a night ride anymore!

ride alone at nihgt, and at some point your irrational fear of the dark, suppressed for many millennia will surface. Doubly so if you only use a bar mounted light.
I always leave a route map fpr te missus when night riding alone, so at least they should know where to start looking for a blood trail that’ll lead to teh remnants of my dismembered corpse!

yep, riding alone often means you don’t push yourself as hard as in a group or pair………not at night though……no way dude…….it’s the loiterers and the one’s at the back that they pick off first ya know!

a “proper” mtb race, rather than a mudbound quagmire around the fields as soon as it even thinks about raining, which an awful lot of races events become (mayhem and sleepless this last few years for example!)through one of the most beautiful parts of the lakes!
so if you prefer you team to ride their bikes for 24 hours rather than walking/pushing/carrying/replacing trashed mechs/moaning/crying/spending a fortune on “mud” tyres that seem to make precious little difference to the overall miserable experience at 2am, and generally complaining to YOU, the person that got them all to come in the first place, come to the Lakes!

Yep, sounds like some much needed changes have been taken on board. Me and little bro’ have just entered the pairs.
Website update – this was pretty tardy last year too, and gave much cause for concern, as did poor response times for email enquiries. THANKFULLY, it just seems to be the case that they were not the hottest folks on t’interwebnet, and all went wel on the weekend.
Looking forward to it! and tat close to Keswick , means we could almost pop into the town for a swift one between turns!

if they are changing mode on hitting a bump, this is not uncommon. it is because the emmiter unit is a little loose on teh battery tube.
Unscrew the front ring off, frome lens and reflector ( don’t lose o ring) and then screw emmitter unit in another half turn or so. don’t go too wild or you’ll move the LED out of its ideal position at the focal centre of the reflector.
this should stop the temproary loss of continuity which casued mode shift on bumps. not uncommonon p7s but easily remedied.
    sorry for shpelling mishtokes……half pished!

i think the idea of a large number of us going in and placign large orders and then leaving just as the order arrives sounds good if Fauxbyfour get s no immediate satisfaction! Does anyone remember the episode of My Family when Ben Harper wronged a group of roadies?

quality windproof small marquee hire, ready erected on site for you, for the weekend!( ok , more of a service than a product but could prove popular for some teams – we’d certainly think about it at a reasonable price as packign away ours at the end is an arse of a job and breeds arguments like Peter and Jordan breed chav’s!)

And a tent/marquee/gazebo that packs itself and all its contents away in SECONDS at the end of the weekend when you’re knackered and past caring.

Light weight helmet mounted hands free walkie talkie for talking to buddies in team while out on course.
Or a gps locator to see where your team mates are on the course ( bit like F1 cars!) so you know when they’ll be back at transition.

Have posted pics of P7 cut down PROTOTYPE mark1 test bodge for your info.

Total Weight is 420g for 4 18650 cells, which should give around 4 hours on max, which compares well with the Hope 10w HID which has only 2.75 hours run time by comparison, and visibly less output for sure. Obviously they are pretty cacky at the moment, and nead ALOT of tidying up in the next version.

Nice tidy leads from battery space are the next thing to be substituted and will use the inline switch they provide, with waterproof trail-tech connectors. They’re very nice and only add a few grams. This will also give me the option to run a double light set if needed ( or just wanted!!!!) via a Y cable splitter.

Am also planning a nice little turned aluminium end plug via a friend who’s a bit handy with a lathe and has just bust a few teeth so owes me a favour! This should tidy up the end and add a little finning for heat management.

Once TF’s holders are available it will be much better.

Looking forward to seeing your battery holders mate, but no rush, just thanks for your enthusiasm and effort.

its probably not the battery, but the emmitter pill. Unscrew the lens cover, remove front lens and reflector. Exposes emmitter. Ensure emmitter is tighly screwed in. This has been an issue before with p7’s. Reassemble and bingo, no more loss of circuit continuity causing mode shift.

Good people, great advice, and they don’t rip you off or treat you like a numpty when you’re still a newbie to this game.
Keen riders, but even keener to see you al enjoying riding too.
Very good stock of fiddly little components too.

Soooooooooooo, i could cut the battery tube off behind the emitter, put in a blanking plug, run in a lead from the battery through said plug that made contact with the positive contact on the emmiter and the shortened battery tube, with an inline switch built into the batery lead, like this one..

    http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=4415

all it would mean would be that i would have to fully turn it on and off to cycle through the modes. Am i right?

    Drillski

Just a thought about bodging now guys.

If i remove the batery tube completely, and i remove therefore also teh clicky switch from the end, do i have to replace this with anything fancy, i.e. does it have any important circuitry in it, or is it just a locking and non locking switch, or does it contain the multi mode jazzy bits? If it is justa simple switch, could i replace it in the circuit with a another similar affair elsewhere in the circuit?

Rich, 11 outof 10 for effort my son!
I’m still up for a pair of holders and pouches, ( the 4 cells in parallel variety). I think the selling the idea on to Dealextreme is a good one, especially if you have a working prototype to send them. Their contacts in asia could probably reverse engineer it and knock up a thousand units in about 48 hours for peanuts!

+The water in some cities, especially London, contains adequate amounts of +flouride. Meaning toothpaste is more or less of no real benefit.

the fluoride in your water supply is of such a low concentration that it will not affect your current decay risk directly, unlike the use of a fluoride toothpaste, so even in a fluoridated area, use a fluoride toothpaste, its worth it.
What the fluoride in your water does do, is to be incorporated into your enamel structure AS IT FORMS, before your teeth even come through into your mouth. This comes from drinking fkuoridated water up to the age of 8-9 years or so, (and even by your mother whilst carrying you!). This gives your teeth an inherently greater concentration of Fluoride ions within the calcium hydroxyapatite crystals that form 98% of the enamel of your teeth. Thsi in turn makes it a little harder ofr acid ( which is the main weapon in decay) to damage your teeth.

SADLY, there is still PLENTY of decay going on in fluoridated areas, as its not a miracle cure, it just helps a bit. from a socaial care provision point of view the difference ot makes is significant, but to the individual, nothing more than a drop in the ocean compared to teh differrence made by dietary changes.

really ought to get back to GDP-UK is suppose!!!
how much CPD can we claim for MTB sites?

Drillski, i thought it was only 20 mins for saliva to neutralise the acid attack ( trying to remember lectures about stefan curves now!!).

Yup it can be, but of course it varies, as salivas ability to neutralize acidogenic activity is variable with site specific variables. and yes, two hours is prbably pretty generous, but also consider how long pieces of food debris are retained in various crevices in soem patients….I swear I found a sixpence between a pair of premolars first day back today!

The advice sheet is a little tongue in cheek, but it has helped in some cases and its a relatively non-confrontational approach. Adapt it to suit your style/banter/approach.

have you checked how worn teh chain is?
do you a have a chain wear checker? shouldbe less than 1% wear, any more and your old chain will struggle with your new cassette.

The fluoride in your tooth paste does ahve a beneficial effect in reducing tooth decay, but only after many years of repetitive applications. and you’re quite right, all the brushing in the world won’t save you from decay and fillings, or worse, if you eat refined carbs more often than your teeth can stand. sadly, this is someting that many of our middle class patients refuse to grasp, and is why the youngest generation of children’s teeth are nwo gettin worse again in terms of tto h decay, despite ewhat you may hear from the chief Dental oficer, the lying f@:~{r!
