Do I need a Citroen Saxo and some “Woofers”

A Nova SR with 6×9’s is much more appropriate 🙂

SSP is treated as any other type of salary and paid by employer directly who may be able to then get some back from HMRC; it doesn’t attract any special rules regarding deductions.

It’s probably the deduction from wages without warning which is the issue, which while I have no expertise in that area, would probably be policy of the employer (or lack of).

About 9 years ago I won a Evo 6 RSR that had been written off as a Cat D. It needed a new bumper, bonnet & wing. I paid £1.01 for it.

    You win. 🙂

Literally, this week, glancing the mobile for Buy it Now’s just listed while queuing in Bolton Post Office, spotted an 2008 Sworks Stumpy 120, with full xtr, thompson, mavic crossmax wheels, fox 130mm etc, for silly money, that had been listed for 6 minutes…

Quick panic check of seller to see if legit, took a decision it was.

    Bought & paid instantly.

Spoke to him, drove 400 miles that night round trip to pick it up, still wary…

Arrived to find a total gent & a genuine bike – all previous manuals – as in ALL, right down to packaging for tyres – even got a cuppa and good chat out of it.

Showroom condition, spotless – it was like a time-warp looking at it.

    £650.

I did feel quite bad, I told him – I still do in fact – he knew it was going for less than it’s worth, but apparently ebay restricted amount he could ask as first sale on eBay?…I’ll be flogging him a bit extra by paypal when I’ve sold my old bike.

Still can’t get smile off my face; although Mrs D is not impressed at it being in the spare room.

Perhaps best that those daft enough do – Darwinism ‘n’ all….

Normally would agree, but I quite like the idea – it only takes one inexperienced cyclist/kid out by themselves for the first time on the road /genuine lapse of concentration…

Given you can buy one from MPB Photographic off of the interwebs with the backing of a large mail order store if things go wrong for £229 – £239 I think you are at least £50 over the odds.

    That’s my answer….thanks. Rich

Andyl – you’re an arse; I’m not responding to that. Ok, apart from that 🙂

Stumpy01 – Fair point; I have a mate who knows a lot more about photography than I and he runs a 50D with a variety of lenses and whips me with his photos. This is not for the value to body v lens though, just curious as to why a relatively well respected camera with kit lens and little use in immaculate consition isn’t gathering interest at market price?!

Re: laptop; I think you’re not being completely fair there – my laptops have been useless after about 24 months; this camera is 3 years old and works as well as the day it was born!

Now have an idea….I have a really crappy supermarket full suspension frame outside. I want to respray it and stick some big names on it and then stick it on ebay and see if it gets spotted

Let me know when you’ve listed it and I’ll do a PSA straight away. 🙂

Thanks – it wnet on for £250 here today, previously £280 or offers.

Re: obselete; that doesn’t seem fair! It’s up with the current entry levels and for a lot less new.

Good point on people getting into hobby; my 400d went with no problems, but that came with a bag…maybe I should buy a bag to go with it, throw in the memory card etc.

    Thanks. Rich

Why do you feel the need to post everything you think may be a bargain when you don’t actually have a clue

    Show some respect.

You have taken a heavily caveated post where I already admitted ignorance, and decided to try to portray an air of superiority by trying to demean my post and escalate your own standing as some expert in the field.

    “Everything” = 2 posts.

Yes, I am biting, but people like you annoy the **** out of me.

    EDIT: Get the kettle on.

I hope you don’t buy much on ebay. What bike do you ‘think’ you are riding?

An original Gary Fisher S-works Zaskar Le with campag running gear, why do you ask?

    🙂

I thought a carbon s-works frame had to be worth the money, but looking at it I can’t see how it is carbon.

    This is so embarrassing..again!

Ignore this, you will get your money back regardless from paypal. They’ll try and get it back off the seller somehow, might write it off if they can’t get much luck, but that snot a worry for you.

Thanks, that’s how I understood it to be. If they close an account or their PP is empty shouldn’t be my fault!

Guess I’ll just bide my time.

    Cheers, Rich

2nd November is only next week, doesn’t seem that long to wait to me.

Agree, but it grinds that the seller is obviously not interested, so wondering whether I HAVE to wait to escalate, or if this is some clever messaging from eBay to minimise referrals?

Have you paid with PayPal? If so open a dispute and you’ll have your money back pronto ime

Yes, all Paypal, no shenanigans – straightforward eBay purchase.

Edit, how is the sellers feedback, if good then you may have a chance, if bad I reckon the account will be closed & your money gone.

It is this statement that concerns me, and confuses me…!

The original questions was whether I has to wait until Nov 2nd to escalate, before this thread gets out of hand! (although grateful of all experiences posted)

wilko1999 » Aren’t all distant sales legally covered by a no quibble 7 day money back policy?

I believe that is eBay’s version of distance selling; “Significantly not as described” as far as I am aware, is irrespective of whether the seller agrees to this or not.

Really?? What happened to buyer protection?! (and it’s 31 at 100%, but don’t think he’s ever sold anything)

Thanks, but “No refunds” doesn’t cover if it’s not as described (and this is so far off the mark it’s funny).

Agree that ebay can sort this, just wondering whether I have to wait until the eBay suggested timescale of 2nd Nov before escalating?

I used to have an Explosif ‘Pro’, think was a ’93 – I would go silly money to have one again, in any nick.

Re gearing from this era; wasn’t it:

    200GS
    Altus C20
    Altus A10
Deore DX (which went all ‘cool’ weirdly)
    Deore LX
    XT
    XTR

I seem to remeber something else used the A10 & C20 suffix – Exage?

STX was some jumped-up newboy; merely elevating LX to a superior status.

Shimano; they knew what they were doing.

    Sorry, waffling.
