Bit dear, and a bit naff, but great kit, pools (only 20m but that’s not too bad for a gym) and best of all wherever I am working I can stroll into the nearest one.

Best one was a stint I had in Blackpool for a year and joined the council gym; £28 a month, no contract and fantastic pool. If only more Local Authorities took a similar approach.

What a story, I feel particularly unqualified to comment, but I will in STW style….good man, great strength and best wishes for 2013.

I conceded, by setting him up using the gmail account required to set up the android tablet. Turned off all e-mail notifications on the original account and let’s hope too much confusion doesn’t arise! I’m paying for the spotify, so hoping that there should be no hassle.

Still no bloody idea what the problem was; but very impressed with spotify now it’s eventually working – the quality through the bose speaker is is bloody amazing and hard to believe it’s without cables; with the simple spotify interface, minority report style tablet thing and bluetooth always on should make it a doddle for him to randomly pick any track from his youth, or present day, for him to enjoy in top-notch sound.

Basically, he’ll just be texting me and a few family members, so needs to be a standalone app or webservice – part of the purpose of the tab is to drag him into the world of apps/andoid etc for when he gets a touchscreen phone there will be a level of familiarity, and then he will be able to share by text.

I remember MANY years back that I could send texts from my PC, so just looking for something like that basically, if it comes in a ‘User Experience’ friendly app then that’s a bonus.

I don’t think 74 miles on a canal is unreasonable, even in wind, rain & slop – it’s got to be a challenge, but that MTL thing just looked horrific!

Looked at British Waterways, sems sections are not cyclable so would have to take a reccy & tweak as suggested.

Will google the other river routes.

A canal loop is ideal.

74 miles could be fine, dependant on ability – if a person of average fitness with a couple of months of training (defined only by common sense & weekly rides), then that’s the benchmark.

It is true that I’m expecting people to join that may be dragging bikes out that are rarely used, BUT I will be making clear that bikes and riders need to be of x ability and condition in order to attend, setting out kit that needs to be brought etc.
