I applied for £260 worth and have either got two for the 2nd round of the football at Wembley, or BMX final by the looks of it. I was expecting to have to send some back but I think I’m quite happy to have got anything as it turns out.

I’m still planning on watching the road racing & marathon though. I was under the impression that the £20 XC mountain biking tickets were just for the finish area and that you could watch along the course for free but from the sounds of it that is not correct? Oh well, TV it is then!

DNF, just glad you were ok and heard from Stuart you’d headed back.

Pistonbroke. We had planned to head along the ridge for the ‘views’ but like you headed north down the forest road and straight down into Dolgoch. Best decision we made all weekend I think, that and to pack a midge hood for the second night!

Re. Tarrenhendre, we (pushed) past a guy still camped about 500m down from the summit at about 8:30 on the Sunday morning. His tent was about level with the ground and he had had just 1 hour sleep all night. It turns out he decided to bail after that. DNF were you there with him earlier as he mentioned two others had stayed at that point? [Edit: sounds like that was you]

We had bivvied an hour or so further down the route up to there and that was grim enough thank you very much!

Now I’ve dried out and washed the sheep shite off my clothes I realise I had a great time, and it was good to meet some of you. I was in a group of three bearded bikers generally looking at maps and getting lost, oh and occassionally riding our bikes.

Tiger – I sent you a mail re. your offer of map pdfs. It may have gone straight to junk, if so mine’s in my profile. Ta muchly.

Don’t worry. It had a polish and a health check and is still ‘alive’ and well. The Headington underpass with its murals, on the other hand, is no more as the whole area has had a bit of a revamp.

It was great, although I’d disagree with the signage comment. If we’d not had a GPS with us I think we’d have gone wrong several times. One sign in particular was way off the trail and at knee level obscured by the undergrowth. That didn’t detract from a great event though 😀

We had a single speeder and a 1×9-er in our trio but at least we knew what we were letting ourselves in for! I thought the route was really good with the really tough bits halfway round so you had no option but to get on with it. The return leg was a bit flatter and more road oriented (thankfully).

Good to meet you AP. I was glad of the full suss for some of those tracks, not so much on the road sections.

Mark, looks like I’ll take Matt’s place so I’ll see you in the am. Trance X with Maxxis Advantages and tired under prepared legs for me!

I’m assuming you pick up everything (number plates etc) on the morning and register with your name?

Cheers Mark, I think I’d probably opt for the 102km but I guess I could see how things go. I don’t think Matt’s doing it as his back has been giving him gyp by the way. I’ll wait and see if Benslow checks here before I commit but might see you in the morning?!

Benslow/Dominic I can’t see your email in your profile but I’m interested. Presumably you can opt for a shorter distance if needs be as I’m not 100% sure I’ve got 132km in my legs but will see? Hopefully you can see my email to let me know if the entry is still available?

I’m still waiting on an email sent over a week ago following a phone call to them. To be fair I was warned it might be “a couple of days” before they got back to me due to a new starter in the warranty dept?!

It’s looking like being more like a couple of weeks. Perhaps they’re being trained up in Microsoft Outlook as we speak?

Couldashouldawoulda, thanks for confirming my vague recollections.

Here’s that thread about the wave/flame rotors. Look good but apparently not compatible with a few callipers, to which you can add my Magura Martas.

I’ve had no problems with any other SSC products though.

I’m not surprised if you sent the email at the start of next week

What can I say! I demand exemplary service and if they can’t anticpate my email it’s frankly not good enough!

I had a similar issue that I ignored for a bit before it pursuaded me to finally look into it. Turns out the internal BB was/had worked a bit loose so I took it out, cleaned it, reinstalled it with copperslip and it’s as quiet as a mouse now. It took all of 10 mins in the end.

So 2pure do reply to emails sometimes then?

I sent two to info@ and got no response. Called them and was asked to email warranty@ which I did. This was at the start of next week and I’m still awaiting a response…

Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP), or a day out on the river with a pub lunch as it’s also known
    😉

Nifty kit that can map the river velocity and profile the river topography.

Or apply it to your other child and see if you’re in for double trouble? You’ve a near perfect control situation here. Not sure it’d pass an ethics committee mind? 😀

Seriously I hope it improves soon.

My non-medical opinion would be that this is coincidence. The cream will be of the lowest strength steroid available and, as menioned, might smart briefly if applied to broken skin but nothing more. If anything the eczema will itch/irritate a lot less once it’s moisturised than before.

    My money’s on teething!

I’m very happy with their pads, grips and bargain chain device but I did have an issue with the Wave Rotor that I think has been experienced elsewhere?

They look great but I used to get serious judder when braking hard with it and ended up swapping it out for an alternative. This was a front 203mm rotor in combination with Magura Martas.

If you’re near a Decathlon try their Quechua Techwool 100% Merino T’s on for size. They’re only £20 and I really like mine having worn it regularly for the last 3 or 4 weeks. I’ll get another next time I’m in there.

Apologies for the slight hijack but…..

dh, is that trail navigable by a bike and trailer (of the child carrying variety with suspension)? We are planning an Easter trip up to Skye and were thinking of hauling arse as far as Loch Lomond for our first break in the journey. I was thinking of walking up Ben Lomond but that route looks like it might be a nice alternative activity for us. The video of the singletrack makes it look reasonably wide and our trailer is of the narrower one seater variety.

    Thanks in advance.

I’ve got some carbon assembly paste (from CRC) and you can have a smidgeon if you like?

I was with Mr MC & Trimix ^^^ with Jedi yesterday and we had a morning (4hrs) scheduled. I thought that mightn’t be enough given how much I had to learn (!) but in actual fact I think much longer and we’d have started to regress.

It’s physically quite tough walking/riding back up the hill to session the sections, but it’s also tough concentrating for long periods and it’s when your concentration goes that you’re really in trouble!

In actual fact Jedi didn’t stop until we were clearly done which was over our alloted time anyway.

We then went off to the pub for lunch and to talk over what we’d learnt. I went out later that evening to put it into practice and thankfully some of it had stayed with me! Just got to practice now….

Chariot CX1 owner here. it does everything you want of a trailer but you do pay for it. We bought ours second hand but I suspect we’ll recoup most of that when we come to sell it on. It is very durable and parts are readily available through the service centre. I got a replacment hub axle for less than £10 when ours failed.

I also must admit to tipping ours on some singletrack. My son did wake up but was back to sleep in seconds after being righted! The harness is excellent and, in the one seater at least, there was plenty of room so that he didn’t come into contact with anything, just awoke suspended upside down! Needless to say I am now more careful!

However, I’m not sure a sleeping child in neccessarily a sign of a comfortable one. My son has also managed to fall asleep in his i-bert seat which has little support, he just rested his head on his arms and dozed off looking very awkward as we rushed home a little late for his afternoon nap!

You’re of course right that in a court of law there would be reasonable doubt. But this isn’t a court of law, the very opposite. And in this interweb based kangeroo court, the same interweb through which CRC does most, if not all, of its business, there is considerable circumstantial evidence to suggest a link.

Do you not agree that given the circumstantial evidence and number of affected persons, that CRC might do well to placate the masses by posting some form of warning, or issuing a statement to its customers along the lines of “we are investigating the possibility….” and allow them to make the decision?

Are you likely to be placing a debit or credit card purchase on CRC at the moment? I’m afraid I’m not.

Idiotdogbrain, that’s weird cos mine (on 2010 Trance X) is a Giant/FSA branded conical headset top cap. Perhaps they changed it from 2009 to 2010?

Similar to the Asgardsss are these:

    Trimetals

I had one in a small front garden in London for a few years and it kept the commuter bikes out of sight and dry. We grew some ivy over it and it was located behind the car parking spot! Benefits by having an up-and-over style door and padlock points.

    Try it!

Just put the spacers above the stem and try it for a while. If it works for you then take a hacksaw to it but only do that when you are certain!

    Try this link

I’m afraid it’s just the black plastic ones that came weith a set of the Merlin Revelations as it happens!

I’ve heard these are a bit prone. I bought some new forks with one but never fitted it. Instead I disabled the spring in my damper (as per Peter Poddy’s guide) and manually turn the knob at the top, although I must admit I rarely use it. The proper replacement knobs are £28 quid form TFT tuned for an aluminium cap!

If you decide to replace your poploc I have a brand new poploc (never fitted) that I was planning on selling off? It is dead easy to make it convert to a manual lockout though.

Thanks for the update Mark. Unfortunate that this should happen so soon after the pre-Christmas delays but I got mine on Saturday and very nice it is too.

Hope you manage to knock a few heads and get a satisfactory conclusion. I, and most others on here I’m sure, appreciate the difficulties you have with distribution and how frustrating it must be once you’ve busted a gut to get the mag finished.

And once you allow a mm or two for the headset cups and bearing seal cap you’ll have even less than 5mm. I had the same issue with my new frame and in the end bought new forks with a longer steerer to allow me to make some adjustment! 😥

    Michael @ CRC

You have my sympathies at the position you as a company find yourselves in and I understand your stance but it has got to the point where people are starting to make their own conclusions. Above all I imagine that a lot of potential customers are not using your website until this matter is resolved.

The comments of drldan (AKA Daniel Loughlin before he changed his profile) are particularly unhelpful as he seems to be implying that all of the customers who have been victims of this fraud only have themselves to blame.

I hope you get to the bottom of this ‘breach’ and can issue a statement to set our minds at rest so that we can continue to spend money on shiny new bike bits.

I didn’t use the voucher at all, my purchase was made after it had expired and was for a sum less than £10.

    Another one done here.

£15 O2 purchase made and prevented by my bank shortly after a CRC purchase on the same card. I also purchased from Merlin and Wiggle last week but there seems to be a theme here!

Isn’t the benefit supposed to be in gaining ‘some’ of the rigidity of a 1.5″ steerer, with the weight benefit of a 1.125″? Oh, and adding another “standard”.

Regardless I’m happy to have picked up a pair of forks for £315 with a free hub thrown in! Cheers PP.
