Got the Rocket Rons here as well in 24″; have gone up,tubeless, although the sidewalks took a fair bit of sealing, and seem to grip well enough. Light too.

Give Islabikes a ring and they will sell you a saddle for £15.

My lad is on a 24″ Kona, 1×9. 30t with an 11-32 was fine around Swinley, but after a half term break in the Quantocks a 12-36 cassette seems to have appeared..l

Mini van, as the tax was less or something and then dad cut some windows in the back, it was grey, but dad knew someone who worked in a council garage, so the van got painted utility yellow with a brush, and then the metal garage door went the same colour! MMF 322C.

One of these as well, but no windows in the black and it stayed grey. Kent to Co Durham for summer holidays, setting off at 4 to beat the traffic, goodness only knows why! EYK990C.

Loving mine! If you can find one used then vfm is off the scale…

    Any excuse for a pic,

It’s a Dune, a lot like the rest of them. When I got it it had already gone tubeless, (not been brave enough to have a peek and see how yet), and had the SLX brakes and Charge Spoon saddle. I’ve swapped to a Thomson stem and some silly-wide On One bars, and there is a 1×10 kit of parts being quietly assembled.

Local terrain is fairly flat, and it’s an absolute hoot. It cost me less than half retail from the classifieds on here; not much more than the cost of a dropper post as an interested chap at Swinley told me slightly whistfully…

Hire Harleys for the day. Out through the desert to Lake Meade and the Hoover Dam, back to town to be heading down the strip as night falls.

Built up a bike for 9 yo for Christmas, based on a £35 24″ Kona frame from eBay.

Mostly spares, only pricey items were the Stan’s Crest rims. He’s about average height for his age and will get a good year or two out of it I reckon.

Not quite as dreadful as forecast so a quick hour sliding around Greenham. Took nearly as long to clean the bikes afterwards but a victory over the weather.

It’s got some flat bars on at present; tried it today with some risers which was better, but they’re a bit on the narrow side. The downside of not having bought a bike for some years…

I’m looking for 20-25mm of rise I think, if the on-ones have that much then i could well be interested thanks.

Not sure if 152mm is too short? Cranks are fine, chain rings are heavy, ideal for a 1x conversion.

That looks very nice indeed. Is the Dune donating parts, or are you perhaps looking to move it on at some stage..?

Currently 15% off a Dune with the DEC80 code, for the next week I think. Sadly they won’t combine it with my 10% company discount…

That’s about as cheap as you’re going to get into a reasonable T4 or T5. But they can be money pits…

And tbh there really didn’t seem much in it, certainly nothing that couldn’t easily be tweaked out. Feel my moderate stature may be a Dune sweet spot…

At 5’8″ has anyone got any advice as to whether a M or L Dune would work best? Sadly not got the chance to get to a store and try before I buy…

DickBarton Rocket Ron 24×2.1 seems to be the tyre of choice, and is around the weight of the islabike treads. Around £20 a pop when you can find them.

A pair of 24″ Crest Mk3 rims, which with the help of an old pair of Hope XC hubs and my best friend’s patience are now the wheels for smalldownshift’s Christmas pressie. And I built some wheels!

I’ve just had a look at the Core 24. That looks like a decent set of disc wheels; alex list the rims as 390g. Time to have a chat with my local friendly Genesis dealer…

    I’ve just picked up this…

…and have similar plans. I decided against going the carrera route as I figured most of the bits would get ditched anyway. Time will tell. Currently trawling for wheels and forks, so if anyone has got a suitable 80mm air fork hiding out anywhere, then please have a look here:

Managed all 4 of us in our T2 when the kids were 4 and 9. Got a 4 person Decathlon pop up to throw stuff into to make more space inside, and then figured out quite quickly that it was far more civilised for everyone to sleep in the tent, leaving the interior of the camper as a pleasant place to spend the evening without a kids-enforced curfew.

I’m only a couple of miles from “Drag out of Hermitage”, and faffed for ages over bike fit.
Problems with my knees ended up with going to the Specialized Store in Newbury for a bike fit from their tame physio, which worked wonders. If you want to ride sometime to get a second opinion then let me know.

Similar story here; came from a KTM950SM, and various sports bikes before that. I’ve so far resisted the urge to go noisy on the exhaust front, and the mini indicators and Renthal bars were fairly cheap. Tail tidy is a sheet of ally, a lucas light and a bit of garage time. It tours fine if you can travel light…
