wrong, and wrong again I’m afraid….

Renault don’t have one, and it only takes the space of the spare tyre, so your boot stays is it is…instead you get some puncture foam, and a handy onboard compressor to inflate your tyres, both on the car and the bike. Check it !!!

I was just wondering why this is classed as a bike thread…

…I can fully recommend a Vauxhall Corsa. At least it has a cool bike carrier integrated in to the rear bumper!!

cars and bikes can live in perfect harmony afterall…

I suppose it’s difficult to define a Race bike, but somehow I think including all fixies is stretching the definition a bit. I know you could race one on a velodrome but there must be a limit to what defines a race fixie, surely..? I believe Race means, could or has been used in a speed competition..no?

Hi cinnamon girl, I can fully recommend a thermos by a company called Alfi.Hopefully they’re available in UK, as I got mine here in Germany. What’s better still is that there also a specific bottle holder, in a tough plastic. I’ve tried the Elite ones, and after around half an hour it was almost cold! German winter cycling isn’t as mild as in the UK either…The Alfi one is stilling piping hot, even after 2 hours riding. Just have to be careful, not to burn your tongue as the spout is like a jet…so the screw top help there too. Check it out….!

My favourite was Vinokourov…he was sooo tough, with the bloody knees and the dirt in every orifice on that wet gravel stage, in the 2010 Giro. Now he seems like a Superhero character, and a bit of a joke. My heart was really broken by him !! I’m alright now though

That’s it !! I was waiting for an excuse to go to the States…San Francisco it is, then. I love that bike in the shop window. It looks like it has a linkage of some sort on the Top Tube, a la Ritchey Foldaway…beautiful and functional !!!

What’s your point DezB ?? It’s a thread about bike beauty, and you can’t never get too much bike beauty I’d say!! What’s your favourite anyway? Put your muscle where your mouth is….

Thanks to all the oldtimer classic bike fans! It’s like a history lesson – incredible! Check the Klein out, the Headtube is as wide as a 1.5″ now !! To me, one of the most beautiful bikes is this one underneath. It’s a one-off which adds to the exclusivity, and the story behind it, is worth a read-up if you don’t know it already. Built at home, Obree used a Washing Machine drum bearing for the BB…that’s sheer genius![/url]

might be going a bit too far, as black and blue usually don’t go so well together. To me, you could try some gold parts, to create a bit of contrast. If gold’s not to your taste then maybe orange?

By the way, is it not cheaper in the end to buy an anodized seatclamp and headset?

thanks jameso and cows in cars, your detailed tips have given me a much better understanding…

yeah, iDave I do think the looks are really important on a bike, it’s one of the hundred things I like about cycling…it’s not all engineering. many people ride bikes cos they look good, and put up with discomfort, or being fashionable….like a load of fixed riders I would wager!!

I don’t want to offend anyone…but is the hit on the looks side, worth it for the increase in rolling / decrease in handling ?? Frame design does seem to make all the difference…the Trek above looks still good though, I must admit !

thanks for the help, I’m still not sure if I’d invest in a Scott Spark in 29″ yet, though…even though the reviews are good. I always enjoyed my 26er, so why change after all? is it really soooo much better rolling on a 29er ?? doesn’t the handling suffer?

I agree Mr Tall ! Over here in Germany, they’re starting to talk about 27.5″ as a happy medium. It has sent all the magazines crazy with discussions…

You had me laughing so much at the Mince Factor…! I’m going to add it to my vocabulary if you don’t mind…heh heh! Actually it’s a really good point, that some riders don’t go as aggressively as others , and could get away with using lighter kit..

Thanks to all so far, it’s great help ! strange to hear about the varying success of the Spesh 2Bliss though, eh? by the way, as I’m new to this Forum lark, what exactly is Mince Factor 1? is there a scale of riding aggressivity that I’m missing?? cheers again to all so far, I’m gonna contact my shop to stop being so tame.

Has anybody been mtb’ing in Catalunya? I’m looking to plan a week’s biking while staying in Barcelona. Might also be heading up to the Pyrenees just south of the French border for a couple of days…this area never seems to get much coverage though, it all seems to be in the south, in Sierra Nevada… cheers for any tips!
