Hi Dickie, also tried X-King racesport. Nightmare to run tubeless so much so that i nearly sacked Conti tyres. The Ust/ tubeless Rubber Queen is a much stronger tyre, weighing in @ 762g on my scales for the 2.2 version (the 2.4 is too heavy for me). It has the protection sidewalls, rolls at least as fast as Nobby Nics but the grip is MUCH better.Went up a breeze tubeless on my Stans Crest wheelset. As i said before it’s the best iv’e tried.

I run Aztec sintered on my Formula R1’s. Best I’ve used, in fact stopped looking for anything better. Good performance wet or dry and don’t squeal. Lex’s were doing deals on 4 sets

I also have a 5 spot. Tried all sorts of tyres, just swapped from 2.4 Nobby Nics to Ust Conti rubber queens. Best tyre I have ever used. Must admit to a bit of a tyre fetish – searching for the holy grail. Can’t recommend them enough. A riding buddy rode my bike and another fitted with Hans Damph at the weekend and said the Conti’s were better.

Cheers guys, thanks for the help. Will have to look at another method to stop noisy chain slap on my 5 Spot

Another vote for Aztec sintered. Tried O/E formula sintered and organic, Goodridge sintered, Superstar sintered,& EBC gold. :( Aztec just plain work don’t squeel too much and last better than all the above. A riding buddy tried them and loves them in his Hopes.Hope this helps as its expensive trying to find a good combination.

What to buy to replace my Kronolog? Fox DOSS any good LoCo? Or is it just down to the Reverb? FuzzyWuzzy, bought it before all the negative reviews. Doh !!! Next time will wait. Tried a Fox DOSS at Stiff as i thought the lever looked on the large side and wondered if it would fit with shifters and brakes. The post returns with a very loud clunk though, seems mechanically unsympathetic. Liked the fixed cable entry on the Kronolog as the linkages on my DW equiped 5 Spot look like a snagging point.

A follow up to my previous post and it’s not good news at all. The post started to slip after a few rides, 5mm at first then about 25mm. Contacted Crank Bros in the States who said get in touch with 2pure the Uk distributors. They agreed to have a look at it even though it was from Germany. They said my set up was ok ( free play in cable as it should be) and replaced the jammer plates and cable. Took them two weeks though. When I got it back if you pushed the seat it dropped two to three mm. I queried this and they contacted Crank Bros who said this was ok. First ride and the post started to drop immediately , eventually dropping 35mm in all. I got back in touch and they said they would ask CB what to do. They also said I should maybe send the post back to Germany for a refund. Two weeks later and nothing from 2pure. DO NOT buy a Kronolog total waste of money with major design flaws and problems. I would not buy ANY Crank Bros products in the future. You have been warned.

Bingley Bash for me, see what it’s like as it’s a first ride on that route. Believe there’s a chance of no rain – well lets hope anyway

Hi Dickeyboy, I damaged an outer on my Turner 5 Spot and got in touch with WL Gore in the states asking where to buy outers only from in the Uk and they sent me some free of charge. Top customer service methinks. Worth a try. Expensive but a quality product with excellent backup

The descent from Limers Gate to Wainstall’s gets my vote.Showed it to some riding buddies who were grinning like maniacs at the bottom. We call it Devils Drop. Long climb out mind. You can even have some liquid refreshment at the Cat I’th Well

They fit fine on my Turner 5 spot withFox float 32 150’s on. Grip well too. Running them tubeless @ about 30 psi. They are the normal performance variety

Fitted my Kronolog last week and used it for the first time last Saturday.Works perfectly as you expect. Was very easy to fit,all of 20 mins and 15 mins was working out how to mount the remote underneath the bars on the left hand side  If you watch the Hans Rey video on the Crank Bros site the free play in the lever and slight slack in the cable are Very simply explained. The cover over the release mech is push fit, and quite snug- don’t think much crap will get in. Was lashing it down Saturday and the bike was minging, but all is clean under the cover. The main reason i got the Kronolog was no loose cable al la Reverb. Only time will tell if it’s going to be reliable. One report on MTBR mentions air pressure loss, then say’s it Ok after being pumped up a few times. Any questions please ask. £211 from H@S discount in Germany by the way.

Already tried superstar for my M4 Mono’s. Nuff said. Whats the best xcracer or standard Formula? Not too bothered about the price, as long as the performance is top notch.

Hi strike, I have just fitted some Formula R1 with FCS and braided hoses, under the rubber cover just after the FCS is a nut and olive. With your new brakes you shoud receive a shortening kit with a compression nut, an olive and a serrated fitting with on o ring on which you push into the hose after fitting the compresion nut. Then a simple matter of bleeding. You need a pair of syringes for this. Hope this is of use
