@erny, not listed on Biketreks website. Found a Purgatory on Leisure Lakes but not the Butcher. Need to do some more research,

They don’t seem bad weight wise. Looking for something a bit faster rolling than a Hans Damph for my trip to Fuerteventura

Well it seems the problem is grease in a groove in the internals and not a blocked hole as such. Sorted and ready to collect tomorrow. LBS got the info from Rockshox to sort it. Result

Would like some lighter wheels for my Spicy Team but think it would result in the removal of some attached bits

Got the same problem with mine :( started when I was playing with the bottomless tokens. My LBS has contacted Rockshox who suggested letting all the air out then pushing the fork to the bottom of it’s travel, partially filling with air and cycling the fork through it’s travel a few times then pumping up to the correct pressure. No joy, also pumped it up to 150 psi and cycled it up and down with no joy. It’s with my LBS at the mo for a strip down as per LoCo’s advice. If they can’t sort it it’s off to see Simon at LoCo as I need the bike for a foreign trip early next week.

Would check limit screws as it only takes a few mins. The lower is not set inline like normal, it’s in the Sram setup guide. My Xx1 is very sensitive to cable tension 1/4 of a turn wrong and it rubs on the rear cassette in the lower gears. Fine in the workstand but makes a noise when riding,.very annoying.

@Jim, carbon, have ordered from Petra. @rickon a bit over the top even for me, , only have a 30kg weight limit. Normally take a lever, mech hanger, cable, tyre, tubes in case (run tubeless)and spare pads. Sliced a tyre badly a few years ago on the volcanic rock took me 4 days to locate a 26er and always take a tyre now.

@njee20 broke a Formula lever a couple of years ago in the same area which stopped me riding hence the spare, going for a month to Lajares in Fuerteventura and spares are hard to find on the island.

Agree with Sancho, love mine. Trailhead in Shrewsbury had a frame in stock last time I was in the area. Here’s mine  Think they are still a little difficult to get hold of at the mo.

You can get lost, a lot of the tracks look alike and when it’s 30 deg and you are running out of water it can be a problem. There is a very good Mtb race series on the island the longest is the Fudenas at over 150 Km long. The island does have bridleways not just 4×4 tracks you have to know where to look or ask a local to show you around like I did, that and Google Earth.

Have taken my Mtb six or seven times but I stay in Lajares or El Cotillo in the north of the island. There are some fantastic routes up there but I know the area quite well. Caleta Cycles have bikes for hire and do guided rides but don’t know of them personally. I have also ridden in the south over to Cofete beach. I normally ride early morning or late afternoon as it does get quite warm even with the famous breeze the island is named after. The riding sandy, some soft, some hardpack and can be very rocky. You will love it no mud just dust, I go again next month and can’t wait 8) A few photo’s to wet your appetite  Looks smooth but gets technical further down. Destroyed a native riding buddy, think he was suprised. Very fast descent into El Cotillo. Looking over to the beach at Majanicho. On the mountain above Lajares.

I had some Formula R1’s and they were just the same with the standard organic pads. They just don’t like wet and muddy. After a long process I found Aztec sintered pads and problem solved. They don’t need much bed in time, last ages and were near silent in all conditions including Calderdale grit and mud. A couple of riding buddies with Hope brakes love em as well. I have a couple of spare sets left. New bike has X0 Trail brakes but unfortunately Aztec don’t make pads for these yet :?

Here’s mine, gone down the three chain route  , we shall see if it works. 12.7Kg ish. Not been on the scales but standard is 12.6Kg. Less tubeless, plus pedals 304g,plus Rockguard mudguard, less lighter seat.So 27.5 pounds ish, with dropper post, proper tyres and 160 front 150 rear.

@lardmn, the Vx1 Element are superb. Tried Teva links,5 10 karvers and freerides and Shimano Am 40/41’s. @Rusty Spanner Mrs Downhill has been known to put mine in the washing machine  and they come out fine.

Can recommend Moonglu for Pro2 based wheels. Bought some Pro2 Evo’s on crest rims which I ran for two plus years without problems on a 5 Spot. Pro2 Arch are £350 with loads of other options.

According to Silverfish they are the same. I have two pairs of brand new Aztec sintered pads, still in the original pack no longer have the R1’s they were used on and the Aztec are by far the best pad I used with them. £15 the pair posted.Email please.

Always use pedal washers/spacers and not had a problem. Used Superstar Nano with Ti axle and now use Straitline Amps with Ti axles. Grease em and tighten up.

The rear seat stay’s are a little wide but it’s not a problem. When I look down while peddling there is 10 to 15mm clearance. You do catch them from time to time as you would on any bike. I run flats with 5 Tens. How tall are you Pawsy? I’m 5’10 and the large fits me fine, had a medium ordered but the large came in first so took that.

Been running KMC chains since 2004 without problems. Had Sram rollers breaking previously. Like the Op says the gold KMC are very good at keeping rust at bay/ looking good

If you talk to Lee he will sort you out. When I ordered my Spicy they didn’t have a kit and Lee said to bring it down so he could design and fit one.By the time the bike arrived he had already sorted one. It’s stress free – no more screwed up tape thrown on the floor when it goes wrong. BTW it,s a lot less visible than photo’s on his website,in fact nearly invisible

Plus one for Invisiframe. Lee has just done my Spicy Team and did a brilliant job.I have fitted the stuff from Bike Tart to my 5 Spot but Invisiframe is in a different league.

Still going Very well thank you, powered by a Technics SU-90V amp and SH8066 graphic equalizer. For those of you who don’t know they are Warfedale Vanguards and replaced a pair of Castle Conway’s which the amp blew up
