You could spend a couple of hours trying to get some decent upskirt shots before it becomes an illegal activity.

Another recommendation for Wheels Mfg screw together bb from me. Fitted one to my Guant Trance and it has been faultless and creak-free for over 1,000 miles.

I am 53, from a working class background in South Wales and totally agree with you, oldmanmtb.

It beggars believe that Wales as a whole voted for Brexit, especially as many ex-mining and steel-making areas have benefitted a lot from EU funding.

The media played a major role in swinging the vote by publishing outrageous headlines knowing that many people don’t read the actual articles or research the topics.

I despair for my children. Like you I believe my children are in a better place than I was but it really makes me sad that so much will be denied them as a result of Brexit.

This government is despicable, uncaring, out of touch and generally a bunch of rich, self-serving **** who are hell bent on destroying any notion of community and the greater good. It’s all about “I’m alright, Jack. **** you”.

I went to the 24hr in 2015. It was a brilliant long weekend.

Put it on your bucket list and do it one year if you haven’t already.

Twice as many electrical sockets as you think you need and a couple of extra TV aerial sockets.

    Wahey!

Just got tickets for Public Service Broadcasting. Not at the Albert Hall though. At the Riverfront in Newport. PSB are doing a small venue tour in Wales before the AH gig.

The Riverfront only holds about 200 people so should be a great, up-front and personal affair.

    Bargainlicious at £21.

Which area of Newport are you in, mooserider?

If you have a car then all the places mentioned in previous posts such as Cwmcarn, BPW and FoD are easy to get to. However, if you are riding your starting point will dictate what’s easiest to get to.

You can change all the settings directly on the camera using a combination of presses of the shutter button and menu button.

It doesn’t take long to do and once you have the majority of setting sorted you will rarely change them. The only routine changes I make on my GoPros are resolution and frame rate.

Having a smart phone to set up shots and check the field of view is a major benefit though.

Dragons season ticket holder for the last 10 years – every year I say I’m not going to get one next season, but every season I do buy one in the vain hope that my loyalty will eventually be rewarded.

Tiny Rebel make some awesome pale ales. If he is in the Newport or Cardiff areas there are 3 Tiny Rebel bars he can try:

    Tiny Rebel bar, Cardiff

    Tiny Rebel bar, Newport

    Tiny Rebel Brewery, Newport.

Further West in Pembrokeshire the new Tenby Harbour Brewery are making some nice beers.

I will also go contrary to the nay-sayers and recommend Brains SA and SA Gold. They are mass produced but still good.

We have a Khyam Motordome Sleeper*.

It’s a doddle to put up and provides plenty of extra room for lounging about, sleeping and storage. It is used for any camp longer than 2 nights.

For 1 or 2 nights in good weather we just use a simple sun canopy to provide a bit of shelter.

*Just had a look on-line and Khyam prices seem to have rocketed since we bought the Sleeper about 5 years ago.

You must have been flying! Well done.

I did the 23-mile ‘Woody Boar’.

This year’s route was better than the previous 2 times I have done the event and, as you say, it was nice to do it in the dry.

Rust in the sills and rear wheel arches. Easily repaired though if you find a welder who knows what he is doing.

The real problem area for rust though is the chassis rails around the engine mounts. If they are rotten the car is dangerous. They can be repaired but it’s an expensive job. I scrapped by first NB due to this as the repairs would have cost more than the value of the car.

I have my current NB for sale if you are interested: it’s a year 2000 1.6. 40k miles and I’m the second owner. It’s a solid car with soft top and removeable hard top.

    Blacklite is externally cabled.

The IR and IRcc are internally routed.

As far as I know only the Mk1 posts came with a collar with flats.

I usually ask them which accident they have details for as I am pretty accident prone and have had several car crashes in the last couple of years. This usually results in a transfer to their supervisor who then hangs up when I ask which accident they are calling about.

I bought a second-hand Command Post IR (3-position) off eBay a few months ago. It was slow to extend and would stop at the ‘cruise’ position rather than the ‘power’ position and I had to manually pull it up to full extension. I suspect that is why it was so cheap (£60). I put up with it for a while until it stopped returning at all during a trip to BPW.

I stripped it down, cleaned and re-greased it using some SRAM Butter. This improved things but it still wouldn’t return to the fully extended position without manual help. A second strip down, thorough clean and re-grease, including inside the inner tube, with Slick Honey and it is now operating like a brand new post.

I have set the pressure to 20psi. Spesh say it can go up to 25psi in cold climates but anything in excess of this could damage the seals.

The collar was extremely tight but I managed to get it undone by leaving the post in the seat tube and using a strap wrench.

I tried the included remote lever initially but couldn’t get it in a comfortable position where it didn’t foul on the brake lever bracket so replaced it with a Giant lever. This was much better but has now been replaced with a Wolf Tooth ReMote which is really good and in a great position.

I have Stan’s Arch Mk3 rims on Hope Pro 4 hubs and they are great.

They have been on the bike for about 8 months and have been faultless. Several trips to BPW, Llandegla and almost weekly thrashes around Cwmcarn haven’t had any ill effects. I had 2 spokes that came a bit loose on the rear wheel after the first month but they were easily tightened and no problems since.

Tyre fitting is easy – I have run Schwalbe and Specialized tyres.

Music over TV if I had to choose.

I too wondered why I was paying for SKY but hardly watching it. Packed it in last autumn and haven’t missed it really. The £35 a month saving is nice.

    Exposure Blaze.

I have been using one for the last 3 years and it has stood up to rain, mud, gravel, a few drops and one dunking in a river and is still as good as new.

    Expensive, but worth it.

Get a proper Barbour and a lining for it. Money well spent.

I have a Barbour Border bought in 1988 and it is still going strong. I rewax it every couple of years and have sent it back to Barbour for a professional rewax twice.

    From the left:

Forks, knives, spoons.* Any other order is both pointless and wrong.

Kitchen knives go in a knife block, not in the drawer.

*Serving spoons and other odd size cutlery go in the elongated slot on the far left and teaspoons naturally go in the smaller teaspoon slot at the front**.

**Unless you are a simpleton and have put your cutlery tray in the drawer the wrong way round in which case serving spoons and other odd size cutlery go in the elongated slot on the far right and teaspoons naturally go in the smaller teaspoon slot at the back.

Went out for an hour this morning. The snow was surprisingly grippy but the wind has created some drifts that are impossible to ride through.

Garmin says it was -4degC but the wind felt a lot colder.

I wear size 9.5 Five Ten Freeriders so ordered the same size Terrex Trail Cross in the recent Adidas sale. However, they are a tiny bit small so I have had to return them. Now got a size 10 on order from JD Sports as Adidas had sold out.

I have the same fork and bought torque end caps for my Hope Pro 4 hubs. The make fitting easier as everything is lined up properly.

    £17.50 from CRC.

Ignore the bit in the description that says they are for 15×110 boost hubs only. They are for non-boost, 100mm hubs as well.

I caught a bloke yesterday flinging a freshly laid dog egg in a bag in to a tree. When I challenged him his excuse was that he meant to throw it in the river!

When I told him that was just as bad he claimed that he didn’t know where a bin was. I pointed to the large, silver cylindrical receptacle about 20 feet away. He just turned around and walked off.

There really are some cockwombles about.

    Stan’s Arch mk3 – 26mm internal width or Flow mk3 – 29mm internal width.

Arch is optimised for tyres from 2.25 to 2.5″ width and the Flow for tyres between 2.35 and 2.8″.

I have been using Arch mk3’s on Hope Pro4 hubs (non-boost) on my FS for the last 8 months and they are great. The tyre bead locks in to the rim very well and I have no trouble with burping or tyre roll. They have endured all the South Wales and FoD trail centres as well as general riding and are still running true. When the wheels on my hard tail need replacing I’ll be getting another set of Stan’s/Hope built up.

Robert Welch Signature are good knives that won’t break the bank. Take a good edge and stay sharp for a decent length of time.

Specialized make great tyres at a reasonable price, although their prices have been creeping up over the last year or so.

Go for Control or Grid if you want to run them tubeless.

Purgatory front and Ground Control or The Captain rear has been my standard set up for years.

Keep an eye on the Sigma Sports website. They regularly have good reductions on Specialized tyres.
