Great post Grum p and tanks for some of the brace suggestions from others. I’m keeping my fingers crossed its just a bad sprain, the swelling is well down but of course I’m still waiting on an appointment from the NHS.

I can still go running for now, just need to watch those curbs :D

Just found out about this series yesterday, Zima Blue and Beyond the Aquila rift are by Alastair Reynolds, and are pretty true to his work, except for the weird CGI boobs.

Just need some Ian M Banks ones now :)

I used to dive in Belfast Lough and Strangford lough on the wrecks of the SS Chirripo and in Strangford on them MY Alastair two great wrecks to dive on if you come over here. Visibility was always an issue in Strangford though. I had my BSAC Sport diver qualification.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, this is the second time I have broken this bone and I’m probably really asking is there a way of protecting it from falls in the future?

It healed really well last time, but I’m not so hopeful this time as I’m 9 years older :|

Heineken 0% and Erdinger are the best I’ve tried, they both taste horrible if you have one after a real beer though :)

I think the whole 14 units thing is just scaremongering to get us to drink less, countries such as Spain seem to recommend 30 odd a week.

I think if you drink to the point of getting a hangover the next day then that’s too much.

Love this kind of stuff, yea I guess that would have to be true.

There is a guy on youtube called Scott Manley, he does great videos on orbital mechanics, like one where he discusses if you can de-orbit something from the space station using human power alone.

Is this the same as a figure skater spinning faster when they pull their legs in?

Rostrevor is nice for a long XC red route with various Black options. There are also downhill trails (the orange ones) I ride them on a 150mm bike and I’m not particularly skilled. There is an uplift on Sat and Sundays to the tops of the orange trails and if you follow locals you can find all the more gnar unofficial trails. Bigwood is good for enduro style “natural” trails and Castlewellan is also a top shout for XC. With regards to the mournes I have ony done the Banns road trail up to Loughshannah, its worth it for the views.

There is a mountain loop I sometimes do in Louth called the Tain way which is an all day job.

All the above trails are south Down/ Louth

I use it all the time and agree with all the above.

The secret though is to get the settings right for video and the type of vids you want to make. A gimbal really helps as well.

I use davinci resolve 15 for edits, it is free and doesn’t kill my PC.

There are plenty of youtube vids that will take you through settings for the camera and most importantly how to colour grade the footage.

I have a camelbak mule, very good pack although limited in space.

Oh by the way don’t put it in the wash, the spin cycle will tear it apart, I have destroyed two by not realising this is what happened to the first one.

I filled a bucket with water and added a fair bit of dettol and soaked them over a day or two, then rinsed them out and dried them. The colour did bleed out of them a lot but they smell ok, if not a bit dettol ey.

I did the causeway coast half marathon on the 23rd sept, I saw plenty of people from england, scotland etc.

The scenery was outstanding and well worth travelling over for if any of you are interested for next year, they have all distances catered for and it is very well organised, bus transfers etc.

It is a trail running race on mostly singletrack, so my time was well off what I could manage on road, as an experience though it was top notch.

Yea my screen is one of those heated ones, sounds like they are pretty pricey, I was hoping the extra strength provided by the wires would stop it cracking further?

My rebound adjuster has rusted and now can’t be moved, I would suggest keeping the water off of it somehow. This is on the 27.5 version.

My dad got me shun knives for my wedding, they are amazingly sharp but quite fragile, not sure on price or if you can get them here but they are a decent price in the US. I broke one though, thought I could cut chicken bones with it, I was very sad.🙁

You can just go up the road in Rostrevor at the start, it’s pure pain, but about half as long as forest climb.

I have a trance and I wouldn’t say 150mm travel is too much for anywhere!
It’s a do it all bike which means I have no need for others.

No-one here will plug the trance because it’s too mainstream but it is a great bike.

Edit sorry didn’t realise you had already bought, enjoy your new bike

Hi guys, yea it’s a really nice bike. Don’t think I would like to pedal it up a hill though

    The price seems reasonable enough.

Thanks for the education on the history of super enduro too guys. I only took up this hobby 2 years ago.
