It is annoying how we are so far behind with these things. Funny enough Vienna was ranked no.1 most liveable city recently and I think London came in at 48th.

    Must be the scooters

They also make any grown adult look like a massive fin de cloche.

They are the norm there though, also loads of adults on the normal, non-powered variety.

Pity as they are a good solution for short commutes as easy to carry into office rather than rely on leaving a bike somewhere.

Thats what I was thinking, the ones for sale in the shop windows were in the 400 euro range, pretty cheap compared to E-bikes and easy to store and maintain.

The ones showing full battery said that they had about a 20km range. Pretty good for a city. Oh and you can also push them along by foot for activity.

    Report it

A friend of my father, a policeman, stopped a lady for a routine stop some years ago and let her go on her way. 20 mins later the same lady drove the wrong way down the motorway and killed two young girls. They found vodka in her handbag, the same policeman failed in a suicide bid and was left brain damaged.

    4 lives ruined.

I’ve knocked the drinking on the head, I’ve been to the point where I didn’t regularly get hangovers, or at least bad hangovers. Resistance to alcohol just creeps up on you and as someone above said even though you cant feel the harm it doesn’t mean its not happening. I also have a friend who says he doesn’t get hangovers, its a bit worrying!

The buddy rider looks great but it’s very pricey. My wife doesnt want a trailer because people will think there’s a child in it and she will be embarrassed 😂.

Thanks for the replies and advice everyone. I’m really excited for it. Which is the complete opposite of how I feel for running events.

Some depressing opinions on this thread, especially the person who wishes a syrian style civil war on fellow UK citizens.

I didnt realise that N.Ireland was such a horrible burden to the rest of the world.

I changed the seals and fluid last year, it was on a fox rhythm though. It was relatively easy, but I wouldn’t go any further than seal replacement.

I’m not convinced that the cause of any RTC, as determined after 15 minutes of investigation is ever any different from the conclusion after 8 hours of road closure.

Yes but when the investigation is picked apart in court the 8 hours may be worth it

I told a guy off for passing me at about 100mph at the weekend, it turned out he was going to the same shop as me. He apologised which I thought was strange. Audi RS3 btw haha

Ok I think it is the new ones, they are on a 2019 bike, I’ll just keep winding then, I wasn’t sure if I was turning the correct screws and didn’t want to mess anything up

I once went through the snow to get a laptop I had reserved for click and collect in PC world, it was the only one left in stock.

Turns out it was the display model and they couldn’t sell it to me!

Needless to say I’ve never been back.

My experience is that chain stores never have stock and you might as well go local as at least you’ll come home with something.

    So for anyone that cares;

It was a relatively easy job to swap the cables over, it only cost me one cable and took all of an hour because I’m a noob.

The re-wrap job wasn’t great because the tape was sticky backed and some of it split a bit. It will do for a while though.

The only issue is that the rear outer is a cm short now and if I turn the bars too far it pulls the back brake on, however its not an angle you could achieve in normal riding. Oh and I need some new helitape patches for cable rub as they aren’t in the right place anymore.

    The joys!

First thing I had to do with my new gravel bike when it arrived was get the brakes swapped over.

Its a PITA, more experience though.

Obvious point is obvious but we’ve all done it we all know someone who’s done it. Make sure you’ve pulled the inner cable past the point in the outer you’re about to cut…

Haha yes, I would def do this, good point.

actually it might be an opportunity to upgrade the cable outers if they are not compressionless type

Jagwire I think, are they good?

    dougiedogg

Hopefully just one new cable – you can re-use the rear for the front by snipping off the clamped/anialiated bit from the end of the rear and re-thread on the front carefully.

    Yes!!

inline adjuster and swap your off-cuts around

Unfortunately I don’t understand what this means :)

    Edit: I understand now

Also… Isn’t it illegal to sell a complete bike in the UK with the brakes set up like that?

Haha yes I think it is, he must have gotten it straight from the box and set it up as is. Ok folks thanks for the advice. I could get used to it but its prob best to get it sorted.

Hey guys for anyone that is interested.

It turned out that I had indeed gotten a broken Scaphoid bone in my wrist. However the specialist took me out of cast after 4 weeks and I am now (supposed) to be wearing a splint for the next 4 weeks until I am discharged.

So all in all very lucky, I’m able to get out on the bike now although not on MTB trails obviously. :D

Hey folks, I hope this doesn’t become thin shaming, I just posted it as it was an interesting article about the extremes of sport and I’m pretty certain there are people on this forum who exist in those extremes.

+1 for Rostrevor, really nice red trail, good black options and an uplift for the 2 official orange graded downhill trails and there are loads of options for “natural” trails off the uplift as well.

The uplift only runs on sat and sunday, morning and afternoon sessions, you can book through East coast adventure.

The locals will be happy to show you the unnofficial trails i’m sure.
