Decent care homes will have a waiting list, however many will take a patient in for respite care, find a home you like and see if your Mum can go in for a week or two to see if it’s for her. If she is already helping out in the local care home I would seriously look into using a home where she is already known by other residents and has a relationship with staff. Will she be happier seeing you for 2 hrs a week or being around people she knows and has friendships with.

They can be scary for new residents as fully of strangers, staff they don’t know, unfortunately many of the residents will have dementia or Alzheimer’s but generally kept separate on different floors, they can be noisy, as someone mentioned on here check residents shoes, also check glasses are they wearing there own.

Check that you are not restricted on visiting times, ensures staff are acting as they should be at all times. All of the staff I encountered are really good but it is very hard work, long hours on minimum wage.

    Phil,

I’ve completed the form a few weeks ago.

Thanks there is definitely not enough research done into this terrible injury.

We are a very select few, members of the worst club in the world.

I’ve shared on a FB group hoping for more responses.

While our retirement age has been pushed to 67 from 65 no one has said a word.

The French push theirs 2 years up and their are national protests still 3 years below ours, shows how spineless the UK has become, no wonder politics have got to the stage they are at.

If your friend has suffered a no fault injury the compensation claim should be for on going, loss of earnings, adaption for lifestyle and medilcal expenses, each should be taken and a separate field.

I would get a personal injury specialist to look at the claim, as the insurance company’s in my experience look at monetary side of things and seriously under estimate costs in their favour.

Well done you are doing the right thing for your friend. As as aside if he has been diagnosed with a brain injury he is now classed vulnerable and should be treated more fairly.

These costs will probably go on for a life time and only get more expensive really push for this, as although the NHS is excellent as you have already seen private health care can get unaffordable very quickly.

I hope you friend can make a good recovery.

Nice work if more people stood up we would be in a much better place, I used to work in retail and was always expected on Christmas Eve at the close of business to put in all the Sales point of sale for Boxing Day, the CEO is probably fully aware of this working practice.

Forget NMW, at 53 think about all your other transferable skills that you have aquired over many years decent employers are willing to pay for these skills.

Good luck something will turn up.

Get a mini deck it’s an inch or 2 shorter and a bit narrower than an adult deck, just makes it easier for kids to ride, you wouldn’t start them on an adult size bike same for skateboards.

My lad had an enuff board for starters they have deals on at the minute see link, get yourself a skate tool as all skateboards use imperial hardware so unless you have imperial tools it’s well worth the money.

We did eurocamp and following year Camping du Letty, in Benodet must be 10 years ago, great campsites with decent pools, straight on the beach.

Benodet has a great town festival celebrating the region end of July, as tourists we were made to feel really welcome and part of the activities. Town has a nice friendly feel to it.

The only downside was the sea there are 2 rivers that feed in and in was full of smashed up mussel shells so the kids thought it was a bit stingy, they were young though. Ferry to Roscof then about an hour drive the other side.

    I would go back again.

Please get it checked it’s what GP are there for.

    Hallo little old lady

Chorton and the wheelies was very surreal, did my me laugh as it was always how we said hello to mum. More of a joke as she never got the little old lady was the witch.

We had our two now teenagers watching the Clangers the original version when they were small, I’ve robbed them of a future thread but they would happily sit and watch over and over.

Full support from here and I shout loudly for the NHS and the great staff.

If only we chould all get the Boris to fund the false advert £350 million a week to the NHS, it takes the piss that that he can earn a million for 5 after dinner speeches, there is no justice.

    Keep up the good work.

This is all too easy to do, I believe the algorithms don’t help, remember social media is full of idiots, with no social grace and don’t deserve to share the air that we breathe.

It’s difficult I’ve learnt just to ignore the comments or don’t take it personally, they are very insignificant people looking to get a rise out of you. No one wins an argument online and you can’t argue with Stupid.

Other than that block them out.

Good question I have bought some eBay stuff early December and eBay have mailed me directly to see if stuff had turned up.

I would get in contact with eBay I would have thought they would have something in place to mitigate against the strike action, I always use Royal Mail for ebay sales as yet I’ve not had anything go missing compared to when I used to use Hermes, have you had the funds yet?

Keep it old cars are cool modifying cars can get expensive very quickly and ruin a nice original car.

I would keep as is give it a good service and change plug leads maybe help it breathe a little better with a panel filter or a ram air induction kit so long as there is means of routing some extra cold air into the engine bay this is easily reversed if want to put back to original.

I would think you will be paying a lot more than £3,500 to make it really interesting and then you have insurance costs on top.

My half penny’s worth is if you love your son don’t let him, for the sake of a year or two, I have just taken it that I will be a taxi if beyond cycling distance.

I come from being an ex biker smidsy doesn’t cut it when riding down a straight road late at night and the car pulls across in front of you, I have to live with a paralysed arm in constant pain since the accident. Out of the 20 or thirty of us that used to ride regularly there has been one death but that could have been predicted two broken legs one broken ankle 2 broken arm and broken wrist and me paralysed arm. This was over a 4/5 year period between 16 and early 20’s

They are great fun and allow for independence that most kids don’t have the opportunity off, but I think the standard of other drivers on the road is not good enough. I’m currently in battle with my 12 year old about getting a motor bike already, on this I’m not backing down.

We need better public transport rather than having to rely on car ownership but that is another problem for another day.

Grass grows back our two dogs ripped up the lawn over the summer.

I over seeded what was left it’s now lush and green my main mistake was trying to keep it to short with the dogs running and playing on it, I’ve just let it grow only cut it twice since summer it was that bad, although it’s in desperate need of a haircut it been too wet.

I’ll definitely leave it to grow longer next year this summer was tough on most lawns I’ll be keeping the blades on the mower set to 3.

Having done a days stint at a polling station, I wouldn’t think it’s that hard to cast your vote, so long as you know the name and address of someone who isn’t voting, go home change of clothes and cast their vote for them of your choice.

I’m good at recognising faces but couldn’t garantee that in the course of a day and 2000 people that I would spot someone coming in twice.

However this is a ploy to make it harder to vote, we need more people to engage and this is another step to making it harder to engage surely it could be done digitally by now.

    Where are all the security????

I watched as they brought Liz Truss into Downing St there where at least 3 cars and outriders, I’m not a royalist but I would expect more security for a king.

Or is it that the present government is held in that much contempt that they figure it’s more likely that they would get bumped off more than Charles.

Unless the bike is giving you bad memories of the accident or effects your mental health I would keep it.

I you love the bike keep it for pottering to the shop and back, even if your doing a short ride it’s so much nicer on a decent bike, I doubt you will get what you think it’s worth at the minute so might as well stick it on the wall or keep for the good weather and just in case.

One of our dogs is particularly nervous around the 3 weeks before Guy Fawkes night when sometimes it sounds like we are in a warzone.

Last year we started giving them DORWEST Scullcap and Valerian the improvement in the dogs is amazing they are both on there beds, aware of the bangs but are not freaking out as in previous years.

All school children to walk to school, make dropping them off in a car as anti social as drink driving.

A flat rate of tax for all PAYE or self employed maybe 2 bands but no loop holes at all. Savings at HMRC will be funded by less complicated tax affairs should make enforcement easier and fairer.

Deposit scheme on plastic bottles huge taxes on bottled water as the only product it waste.

Insulation was carried out for the elderly for free by the WarmFront scheme under the last labour government, scheme disbanded in 2012.

I am so angry that Johnson has the brass front to come back.

I can definitely attribute one death on his shoulders, my mothers, was in care as I could no longer look after her, she was intelligent and social,a genuine pleasure to be around.

Her health deteriorated as she couldn’t see her family due to the rules that Boris have put in around care homes, she didn’t get the mental stimulation from the staff in the care home, but that’s another matter altogethe.

I got to see my mother once in the year before she died while he was pissing it up in number 10, if I am ever unfortunate to meet him I can guarantee I’ll be arrested. I have never felt so much animosity to anyone I am a tolerant person but I cannot let this go I thought my grieving was through but with him in the news it’s bringing all the pain back.

    Sorry for ranting.

I had a 13 inch one really good value bikes although you may want to swap the tyres out as the standard ones are quite weighty other than that a good bike.

If your getting in cheap go for it you will be able to punt it on easily

Better to regret something that’s been done than to never have tried.

In the OP’s situation I would definitely give it a go if you don’t like it you still have the option to sell the boat.

I hope I’m in the same position for my kids when that time comes, I’ve always fancied a life afloat, had mates that used to live on the canal, it’s hard work but worth it when your living in nature, although most were on the move without a mooring.

I’ve just done my second weekend alchol free, it’s been quite tough going as was drinking far too much, doing the same tips as I did for giving up smoking putting the money aside for a treat at the end of a month.

What I find hard is I love the feeling of being slightly intoxicated and non alcoholic drinks just don’t really cut it, I’ve not tried the AF beers just going cold turkey with water and squash, I think I would feel cheated having a beer without the lovely effects.

Feel slightly better already, sleeping much better, and waking up is so much nicer with a clear head.

The housing market has been super inflated and un sustainable for the last few years, 10 x average wage for an average 3 bed semi.

I see a correction same as the late 80s earlier 90s I’m expecting to lose at least a 1/3 off the cost of my home, but it’s all monopoly money until you need to sell up and fund retirement care home fees.

The only difference now and then is that there is a vast amount of people who see property as a gold plated investment and still have disposable income or cash and will buy property and just pass the cost onto Tennant’s.

Saying that we all want somewhere nice to live in the OP’s position if you see something you like buy it, live is too short.

Agree with the enuff mini set up it’s what my boy started on at 5.

You might have to tweek it a bit out of the box slacken off the bolts on the trucks a little which will help her learn to tik tac and carve the board and a back off 1/4 turn on the wheels helps with speed on the wheels.

Skateboard bolts are still in imperial so buy a skate tool if you haven’t got an imperial socket set.

The one thing I can say about skating is all the other kids are normally really supportive of each other at the local skate park and help each other learn but look up skate park etiquette if you are not a skater helps to know the rules when your learning.

When it’s time just go for it don’t bother messing around going 4,3,2,1 just go no blade you look odd in the mirror for a couple of days, but no one else really GAS.

Embrace the look, get a hat for the sun and a choice of beanies bobble hats for when it’s cold.
