second vote for the huttopia sites we have been to both the one in bracieux and saumur prefered the saumur one but we have two raucus kids :o)

    https://europe.huttopia.com/en/

you can cycle through the woods to chambord from the bracieux one which is worth the trip if you like a french chateux and the saumur one is a bit more remote but has great views of the loire river and a fairly easy ride into saumur via a selection of wine caves where you can do tasting.  also you can canoe along the river and saumur is quite a interesting town to have a wonder round with a chateux and some good places to eat

this year continuing the huttopia theme we are stopping in the loire then onto carcans down near bordeaux for a beach and pine forest cycling extravaganza

also the tunnel that Llama mentions is great our van just fits its like something from starwars for 12 kms!!

not quite 10 degrees backsweep but close at 9 i got some of these PNW ranger bars in 31.8 over a year ago to replace some overly stiff 35mm and hardly any backsweep bars find them much more comfortable for my knackered wrists and elbows

We have a T5 that we bloody love use it for a big trip in the summer lots of weekends away and often just for day trips where we park up somewhere picturesque to cook tea but it is expensive to run and we didn’t have to by it as we inherited it so it’s like a treasured family heirloom so if you can afford it go for it

BUT do check what engine it has

    1. <span style=”color: #000000; font-family: Roboto, ‘Helvetica Neue’, Arial, ‘Noto Sans’, sans-serif, -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, ‘Segoe UI’, ‘Apple Color Emoji’, ‘Segoe UI Emoji’, ‘Segoe UI Symbol’, ‘Noto Color Emoji’;”>What model (engine) T5? The 180bhp version has severe issues, walk away from any of them tbh.</span>

As this statement is true guess how I no?!? No walking away though just trying to squeeze some money out of VW and pouring a lot of oil in!!! đŸ€Ș

To be honest and i might be mistaken there probably isnt that may people on here who would really make use of some DH tyres so if anyone reading this is struggling and needs some fresh rubber to keep them rolling i am happy to send them to them but likewise if no one comes forward then you guys having them and using them that would be brilliant

the dhr2 has “test pilot” written on the side so who ever has them can be all “factory”

Hello I have one had it years so it’s done the evolution from 26inch wheeled bikes to my more modern 29r the wheel straps still work with the longer wheel base of my orbea Occam. I’m sure you could get a newer rack which would be a better fit but it does work. The rack itself is pretty no nonsense and very solid and roofbox .com carry spares if anything does go wrong.

An aside Q to anyone who’s dyslexic. Do you understand instructions ok? Directions to somewhere for instance.
    Genuine question.

i am not great with written instructions or said ones either but something visual is fine basically i need a picture of how to do something and i learn things by repetition but my reading is alright just slow and tiring so i tend not to bother to much other than to read my kids stories.

things like directions i tend to try to pick out key points of info as i know i wont have taken in all the info and then will wing it, i can read a map though visual thing again and weirdly once i have been somewhere its stored in my memory for the next time.

luckily for me i do a very visual/arty job will give the show a watch on catchup

I got one of these from decathlon and cut the plastic tube out of the handle leaving the straps and small carabenas works a treat, my daughter hooks the strap round her bars and stem and off we go. When not in use I wear it like a belt 😀

Not recent but a few years ago had spent a fantastic day with a mate at rheola razzing the DH track, it had been a typical wet and muddy day so alot of faff packing the car for the drive back, two DH bikes back in the car along with alot of muddy gear, cake eaten, light fading

where are the car keys!!! QuĂ© a full unpack of the car no sign of the keys, it’s now dark the gate is about to be locked when said mate (it was there car) shuts the driver’s door and voila there are the keys 😜

related to the OP’s story but without the poop, my kids love to collect rocks, our old washing machine had died so we popped out to argos picked up a new one lugged it up to our third floor flat plumbed in, set off the first load and popped out to the park. upon our return the block of flats sounded like someone was doing some wall demolition

. it was the new washing machine trying to escape the kitchen as a giant peeble was wedged between the glass door and the drum! the machine only did one more wash before the bearing broke on the drum. moral of the story check ALL pockets and pay for the insurance!

    Hello
I got a h20 a couple of months ago was going to get the h30 but there was none around so spammed the credit card for the extra! I wasnt sure between getting the medium v the large but after a brief test ride round the carpark i have gone for the large, i am 5ft 9.5 (very important .5!!) Be carefull with the longer dropper on the medium as the one on mine is a 170mm and the colar is as low as it can go before the cable in the seat tube starts to get un happy with the bend it has to make for the internal routing. This might depend on the dropper you are using though.

I am well happy with the bike though, for me its perfect, i can ride all day slogs in the hills, its slack enough for steep bits, so far so good in the air and its still pretty agile, i have moved up from a 2009 transition covert so short and 26 inch wheels to the occams long and low and 29inch wheels and i can still chuck the bike around and blast about but now climbing is so much better!

i did swap the resin only brake discs as they are poop but if you have better brakes your good and i ended up with the sram eagle version and the NX rear mech is shite but when is breaks i’ll swap for a better one.

Doris what the hell did they have a quad bike on the roof for?!

so you can drive it off the roof into a helicopter!! :o) battlefield fans love the game because of all the crazy stuff you can do, record and upload to youtube.

My part of the game is Animation, on this project a bit of character stuff but mainly the cinematics, characters, facial animation, cameras, cinematography etc

my two have dmr v6’s on their bikes, the pins are moulded in but i dont think that matters to much as they are so light, the kids not the pedals. they run on bushes not bearing and the sealing isnt the greatest but a quick squirt with some lube and they are all good AND you can get them in lots of different colours which is very important :o) so for the price they get a thumbs up

if you wanted replaceable pins the nukeproof ones are pretty good i have some on my hardtail which is mainly commuter miles but feel very grippy but would definitely do more damage to a shin! and cost about ÂŁ15 more

I also had a 5 spot that i got in 2003, paid for by my first ever work bonus! that i rode all over from the surrey hills, puddletown, wales north and south, scotland, spain, french alps, swiss alps, chicksands, rogate, secret jump spots you get the picture! what i loved most was that you could put chunky wheels and tyres on and you could plough down rheola dh track one day and lighter wheels and tyres for 40 mile xc blasts. i still have the frame but the chainstay has worn to much at the main pivot to not be all wobbly :o(

i retired it in 2012 i think but have kept it just incase

cheers Dave for making sure a great versatile bike!!

I laid a indian black limestone patio this summer, we already had a big chunk of concrete slab where a garage used to be so i extended that and squared it up with the house and made a plan in maya (3d software) and set about it over the august back holiday. Was hot and hard work as i was by my self but not that technically hard. I rented a cement mixer and went with a strong sharp sand and builders sand mix but didnt slurry the back of them. You do need a full bed, mine was between 40 and 50 mm to allow a slight fall so no puddles when it rains. I found this website was really helpfull

do lots of measuring and thinking before setting off thats my advice 🙂

Euro tunnel – booked our car on for our summer camping trip, we have a roof box and bike rack on the back so always go in the high vehicles section with the coaches etc

A month or two after booking we are lucky enough to be able to take the inlaws campervan instead of our old car so i phone up to change the booking, understanding that i would have to pay extra (didn’t realise how much extra!!) but not prepared for the “you can’t travel on the same train anymore computer says no” spiel you get despite the fact that the van will take up the same space that we have already booked on the train!

No amount of reasoning would change their minds 🙁

i ended up getting some dmr V6’s as they are cheap and come in all sorts of colours, i was initially worried about the size of them and ground strikes but my 8 year old son has been practicing lifting up his inside foot as he corners and so far he’s only had a few pedal to ground/root interfaces!

His feet are much more secure on the pedal and there are a bit less savage on the shins, so so far a big thumbs up.

cheers for the replies, i am liking the look of the Fourth way up Jameso posted, that way its only the final bit of tarmac on knobbly tyres!

i think i need to get a map so i can see if there is a more interesting way down and maybe on another day do as Eddiebaby says and hire a road bike, although is it against some road riding rule to ride a road bike with dmr vaults and 5-10’s? :o)

What Pjay says is true, the queues at the tolls on the way to the alps generally aren’t that bad, further south they can be crazy though!

We still have a tag though as i do quite enjoy playing the game of cruising through the posh lane at the toll whilst the people who razzed past me are stuck in the queue so they have to razz past me again and again and again (childish but it makes me smile)

I have been night riding with my son since he was five (he’s seven now) and he has one of these

which i thought was a 500 lumens one but turns out its a 450, anyway it does the job for him, i mostly ride behind him so the light on my helmet shines the way aswell. We do some of the gentler trails in the surrey hills with it.

    moon have brighter ones aswell

they seem pretty good quality and a good balance between price and brightness, i have an older one as my commuter light.

weird?!?, we had similar in our old flat where there was something left on the walls from the glue used to stick the old wall paper on in the 60’s that although sanded smooth when you painted the pattern from the paper would appear in the paint, in the end had to get it plastered (which is weird as you are obviously already on fresh plaster) another option at the time was breatheable paint

Does the paint flake off if you scrape at it?

I am currently painting a lot of fresh plaster in our house and have done pretty much exactly the same as you, And in a few spots the top coat (trade endurance emulsion) has ridged and flaked off. I am not sure why either, possibly wasnt quite dry? or some residue of something on the plaster? either way last night i sanded it back to bare plaster in the affected areas and tonight will try again.  If that works i will report back that sanding back is the fix.  I have also cranked the heating up if it isnt quite dry.  ( the rest of the room has been fine just a few isolated spots)

That looks higher than our golf which we load up to the roof and then put on a bike rack and a family of fours bikes plus said family of four, just for that low rider look 🙂 And Hot fiat i would never drive at 10mph in 5th the golf has SIX gears!!

Ours has snapped both rear springs and the underside hits the ground a lot though so check underneath, its mainly cosmetic scrapes though but i expect our luck will run out at some point.  So as mentioned above check the springs and the underside and probably unless its dirt cheap don’t bother

    we stayed here

    http://www.campingliez.com/en/our-campsite-p1.php

on our way down to annecy last year and will again this year, the kids loved it, fantastic and affordable restaurant, swimming in the lake, ponies, bouncy castle basically sweetened the deal for our kids (3 and 6 at the time) for the big drive to the alps.

Back in the pre kids days, i was down at uk bikepark/blandford doing an uplift day and decided to do one of the ladder drop/road gaps they had tucked away in the trees. Not in itself massive drop maybe 12 ft if you plop of the end, but fearing coming up short on the track that runs under it i went way to fast which i realised as i sailed of down the steep transition, landing just before the track at the bottom and just in front of a tree.  So with huge skill (LUCK) i steered around the tree with the mighty 66’s fully compressed my chest on the bars and the visor of my hat buzzing the front tyre and the brakes locked on which wasn’t very useful as the rear wheel was way up in the air and the soil there is chalky clag.

Happy days! not for my mate who didn’t heed my advice and had a massive stack 🙂
