    Too much seatpost showing.
Should’ve bought a bigger frame

Verenti Substance from Wiggle. A similar spec to the CdF but substantially cheaper (fund for new wheel set?).

Looks really nice for the money, I’ve been mulling over a Croix De Fer for a while to replace my ‘weathered’ Tifosi CK7, the Verenti thing seems like cracking value in comparison ( I know the groupset is better on the Genesis but there’s nearly £600 difference ).

Would love a Nicolai, bit out of my price bracket though.

Process is on the list to try, but silly wheelsize means new fork and wheels
Glad it’s not just me that’s confused with reach / top tube

    @bigblackshed

Yeah, I prefer a longer bike too.
Tried a few (santa Cruz, Trek) which felt short, Orange Five felt good.
The knee/pedal dimesion is important to me as I have dodgy fell-runner’s knees.

Shame I’ll have to wait a while to try a Rocket….

    That’s my point, I don’t want a longer stem, I want a long frame :D

I’m 5 10, 50mm stem, long in arms and torso.

I understans ETT, the bit I’m confused by is the Rocket has a shorter ‘Reach’ measurement but a longer ETT, does this mean I’ll be sat further behind the BB?

I know I need to ride them (already tried a Five) just researching / killing time until demo’s are available.

    It’s well worth buying.
I investigated the price of some of James Balog’s photography, way out of my price league 8O

Thanks for the tip, watched the trailer and just bought this.

    Anybody else?

Myself and my partner moved up to the Lakes three years ago, me for the riding and fell running, her more for road cycling and walking.
We left promising jobs behind because we weren’t enjoying life.
We’ve both now settled into jobs with good prospects and have a nice place in keswick. I don’t earn as much but I need need as much either :D

It was a risk but worked out well.
It wasn’t just the riding that brought us to the Lakes, it’s a nicer, quiter pace of life as well.

I like them, after seeing this thread, I may buy another pair while they’re cheap!
I ended up with the mid version, great for long hike a bike routes…

I agree, I have a similar ‘blow-up’ mat made by Multimat, dead light and comfortable but very little insulation.
Has been great for spring/ summer, back to the trusty Thermarest for winter.

Although a friend suggested a foam roll mat to increase insulation, still light but getting bulkier..?

I stuck a 9mm thru axle on my old QR forks, definately felt less ‘twangy’. A much cheaper option, managed to get conversion for hub and cheapo Superstar thru axle were £15 off here.

Not as good as a 20mm (which I use on my main bikes) but a cheap and easy option if your happy with your forks?

Just received my sample today, I’d completely forgotten I ever signed up :D
Conditions at the moment should be a good test!

Smashed my knees to pieces on a quick blast around the valley
I was in a hurry and left the knee pads in the shed…

After watching Seasons so many times, it’s almost like we ‘know’ Steve Smith, so the win is a real heart warmer.
I thoroughly enjoyed this years coverage and racing.
And it’s amazing that Peaty is still a contender!

I had a Ti frame because I’d always wanted one.
Unfortunately it broke, I now have a steel frame and actually prefer the ride, both have very similar geometry.
I wouldn’t buy another Ti mtb frame, but I’d quite like a disc tourer…

I did love the look of the Ti frame, always cleaned up nice and no paint to scratch!

    That looks lovely.
I want one of these to replace my Pitch, seems to be very similar frame but loads lighter….

I put Revs on mine as well, U-Turn Team model with the Blackbox damping.
They’re ace, although I rarely use the U-Turn function.
New Rev’s are cheap at Merlin Clicky

I’ve only ever ordered one item from Tweeks.
Unfortunately it was out of stock (still listed as in stock on site) they gave me a call after a few days to let me know.

Not the end of the world, I ended up buying from CRC.
I just felt like giving someone else a chance (LBS couldn’t supply).

    I defo wouldn’t wait three weeks….

I rate the Monkey/Smorg combo on my Pitch, they’ll soon be going onto my newly built hardtail. I find them great for Lakes riding, cope with rocks well, tough, cheap, couldn’t ask for anymore…

An On-One ‘Crossmark’ would be a perfect replacement for the back.
    Where’s Brant?

Ha, I got sunburned doing the Borrowdale Bash yesterday.
Quick loop around Newlands Valley tonight and I came home soaking wet, with squelchy shoes.

    Both fantastic rides :D

    Who needs seasons anyway?

Got some Hope / Stans built which have been faultless.
Went back to them for wheels for my tourer, went with Ambrosio / Velocity A23 combo. The rims they had didn’t have matching stickers, I got a phone call asking if this was ok. In the end, they steamed the stickers off, fantastic customer service.

It’s a shame I don’t buy wheels very often, I’d happily give them more business :D

Now where did I leave those old Pace rigids…. :D

Slight hijack, how much did Enigma charge for the repair? What was cracked on the Soda?

I have one in the shed with a cracked seatstay.. inspired by this build

    Higher stem might help.
Try small adjustments to angle of bar and brake lever position?

Took me well over a year to get my touring bike (with drops) set up perfectly, as it was completely new to me.
I was methodically making small changes and one day it just felt right.
Patience paid off, it’s now dead comfy for bimbling around for a week or so… :-)

    Cold is great.
Went out yesterday morning before work, frozen mud, fast trails.
Day off tomorrow, more frozen mud and less ramblers around Keswick

As a contrast, I’ve found the Monkey / Smorg combo to be great on the slimy roots and wet rock around Keswick.
Even worked well in the snow over xmas!

At a third of the price of my normal HR / Minion, I’ll be stocking up.

I own a Pitch and will never even approach it’s limits but I love riding it.
I’m pretty fit and good at climbing, so I bought a bike to boost my confidence downhill, I’m even starting to get some air..!

As long as you ride regularly and enjoy it, you WILL get better.

Chunky Monkey / Smorg combo has been on my Pitch all winter through snow, ice and mud.
Grippy and predictable, doesn’t seem any heavier than the Minion /High Roller they replaced.
I think I’ll get another pair for the hardtail which is taking shape in the shed

    Looks great Kryton
I’ve just bought one of these frames as well (thanks Stuey), these pictures are making me really excited about building it up!

I’ll need to wait until next payday to complete the puzzle… although I did buy some green grips in the CRC sale
