I just bought some cowbells for my cross bike. Seem like a nice shape, struggling to get the angle right on the hoods though. I’ll get them taped tonight and hope for the best.

I have one and it’s great. Packable, breathable and big Hood to go over a helmet. I use the hood under a helmet on really windy days.
I do have a heavier goretex jacket for winter as the Spark can get overwhelmed.
For reference I live in the lakes, so have to deal with a bit of rain

As previously mentioned, far better than a lot of bike specific jackets.

Interested to hear your views on the Solar 2, once you’ve used it.
I’ve been looking at this tent as well, I know it’s a pricy option but 1kg for a freestanding two man tent is fantastic.

I’m a Terra Nova fan, I love the fact they’re based in Derbyshire and still make / repair tents in the UK. The Hope of camping?

I have one with a decent Audio Technica cartridge. I think it sounds lovely. I’ve had it about ten years, I can’t imagine replacing it.

I much prefer it to the flimsy Project / Rega style turntables, like a good steel hardtail versus an XC whippet…

Is this the right thread to ask why my Reverb is sagging?

Yeah, it’s not even Boost. What were you thinking

How will I dare show my face at the cafe at Llandegla?

My steel 26 inch hardtail still rides great. Fortunately it has a 44mm head tube so when my Revelations finally die I can pop some tapered forks in there.
Probably the bike I’ll never sell. Not worth much anyway.

I do laugh at all the new ‘standards’ 3mm wider here and different thru axles there. Not worth worrying about though.
I imagine Gwin would notice the difference. Most of us (well me at least)…not so much.

I’ve just bought a bike with ‘new’ standards, 142 rear and 15mm front. These are obviously old standards now and out of date but I’m coming from QR rear and 20mm front so I’m getting moderner.
First bike with tapered head tube as well, will I notice?

Never lock the forks, rarely lock the rear shock.
As already mentioned, I always forget to unlock the rear shock and wonder why the downhill seems bumpier than last week

I think you should sell the Smuggler, incidentally I’m also looking for a Smuggler frame in large

I’ve had a z3 compact for nearly two years now, it’s been perfect.
Not fragile and the UI works as well as anything else I’ve tried.
Been dropped lots, only dinged the corners, when not using a case.

Will be upgrading in Feb, I’ll stick with Sony.

As others have said, I wouldn’t mind thinner paper and more ads if it keeps the print mag going.
I enjoy reading before bed, in the park at lunchtime, on the loo, these are all better with paper than on a screen IMO.
I would definitely prefer more stories in the mag and keep reviews for the site.

I always enjoyed riding (or running) Jenkin’s Crag after work.
Seems like a pointless waste of funds.
Are they going to tarmac the uneven parts of Loughrigg next?

Bread factory on the production line, dipping bread rolls into grated cheese to make cheesy buns.
I was a student, so needed the money, lasted a day

I was trimming the steerer on my forks, I though it seemed harder to cut than normal.
Turns out I was sawing through the Hope Head Doctor that was still in the steerer tube! :D

The recovery from this is going to be tough.
Once the roads are clear, if you get the chance to visit the Lakes to support local businesses, please do!

My thought are with everybody not in their homes tonight.

Managed to get into Ambleside to work today, shop is flooded but everyone ok.
Road in from windermere is passable but still flooded in places.

Absolutely gutted to see the Portinscale bridge gone, that was part of my commute for a few years… :(

    Be careful out there.

Couldn’t get into Ambleside for work today, road in from windermere is closed.

Rain is still coming down heavily.
    Hope everybody is ok

I bought a Works Components 40t and Shimano 16t from Bird, all for £40 posted, they have some left…

    http://shop.birdmtb.com/works-components-40t-genuine-xt-10-speed-16t-sprocket.html

I also have the SS one on the other bike, functionally there is no difference. The Works is finished better and it’s silver, which I prefer.

I’m excited for this, it’s been a fantastic journey with the characters so far.
I going to watch the film tonight in preparation…

I would also like an FS soul
I’ve had steel and Ti Cotic but I’d be fine with an alu Soul FS.

Can’t wait for this, the course looks brutal.
I’m rooting for Hill or Bryceland. Or Bruni.
It’s going to take something special to beat Gwin though, he seems to be on a different level in the last few races.
And Miriam Nicole for the home win.

    Looks fun.
It’ll be tough at race speed.

It’s a great addition to the ride, look out for walkers though, it’s a well trodden route.
I try to avoid it at peak time on weekends or during the school holidays.
The descent to Ashness is fun, much better than slogging along the road.

I thought Titan was ace, really looking forward to where it goes with the next season.

Knights Of Sidonia is worth a watch, epic sci-fi with lovely animation.
Everything has a very ‘weathered’ look.
    And big robots.

I have the RSP Plummet. Had it about a year, it’s great for the money.
After a strip down and new cable it works perfectly.
It’s annoying you have to do this but it was less than £80.

And it means I can keep my outdated 26″ frame a bit longer..

This reminds me, I still have a cracked Soda in the shed.
I should really get round to getting it fixed, lovely frame.
Mine cracked near the brake mount….

Interested to see how much this goes for.

    Track looks amazing.
Ratboy for the win, it’s a real shame that Hill is out. Probably my favourite rider to watch.

As above, get a few zip ties on the cables.
Same routing on my Pitch, made a right mess of the underside of bottom bracket before I tamed the cables… never had a problem since.
I’ve recently gone 1 x 10 on the same bike (had it on HT for a while) the jury is still out.
Main benefit for me is it’s so easy to clean after a muddy ride, compared to two chainrings, chainguide and bashguard. I can keep it all running smoothly with the minimum of effort.

Thanks, ordered a chainring and an expander cog :D

I live in the Lakes, currently Spesh Butcher and Purgatory Grid on the FS.
Chunky Monkey and Smorgasbord on the Hardtail, both sets are Grid / Exxo type, I’m fairly light but a bit clumsy, rarely kill tyres.
I used to always use Minion / HR combo, I much prefer Minion or HR on the back to the Ardent, much grippier in the wet.

I’ve got the 2010 Rev U Turn Air’s on both my Pitch and my hardtail.
They’ve been as reliable as any other fork I’ve owned.
TBH I rarely use the U-turn function any more, great forks though.
Can be found cheap as they are out of date wheel size :-)

After I had my elbow rebuilt (fractured Olecranon) I bought some 661 Evo pads.
Really comfy with the soft D30 padding, well fitted, without any pressure points. Not too warm either.
I still have them in the shed, size Small, drop me a mail if interested.

I’ve got the Delta’s (only the poverty spec alloy ones tho  ) they still spin smoothly after a year or so, light, thin and grippy.
I’d definitely recommend them, even buy the alloy ones and get something else with the difference?

Just finished True Detective, definitely up there with The Wire.
Shame there’s only one season so far…

Also, Boardwalk Empire is worth a watch.

I’ve got a Plummet as well, as above, it’s a bit agricultural but it works. Easy to strip down, less than £80 if you look around.
Mine wobbles a bit, same as my mates Reverb…
