I sent off a few Defy’s at my old with the same thing, they ‘flashed’ them and sent them back.

Shame, I dont believe it to be true as I have met him (rode with him once or twice years ago when he was a mountain biker) and I know his brother, Alex, a little better. They are a decent family and I can definitely say hes a hard worker and all round nice guy. Saying that, Armstrong was a ‘nice’ guy…

Just a firmware crash, I suspect you will need to be ‘flashed’ as a factory reset isnt enough.

Depends on the circumstances. A network cannot block you from calling any number with the exception of international or paid numbers. They can occasionally block incoming calls from other people. Most modern smart phones have a call barring system where you can block incoming numbers too. Phones have also had a system for years for fixed dialling to certain numbers.

If its a paid number certain networks do contracts which do not allow you to go over your contract amount, basically you have whats in your allowance and when it gets there it stops.

I had the same on my Bora which had an older PD engine. Generally its not leaking on the filter itself, probably from the hoses/filter connection. The clamps that hold the hose on are pants, try replacing with similar size jubilee clamps (fairly cheap from eBay) as the original ones stretch and have to be put in exactly the same place as before. Too far back or forward and there isnt a sufficient seal around the nipple of the filter.

Its not the first time. He spent £35 last year on donuts for The Simpsons Tapped Out game. I really should learn…

The eBay app dosent have a password unless I log out then I dont get the notifications. He couldnt have paid for it as he dosent know the password for Paypal.

Generally printers print in CMYK, more expensive ones print in sRGB. Im just being too picky I think! :?

This is a minefield and it depends on how keen you are. Ive been and done the photography thing (did a few weddings and have a photography degree) and I can honestly say you are almost better printing through a service for most, mainly from a cost vs quality point of view.

a printer prints in CMYK, a screen is setup for RGB. Matching up what it looks like on the screen to a print is difficult. Even then, screens are made to look good, not be colour accurate.

If you do decide to go for one, read a lot of reviews. When I was into it Canon and Epson printers were good.

Communication isnt the greatest thing in the police service. I work with several good officers, I have also seen times when they reach their breaking point and as I am generally extremely patient I do often think they are crossing the line and on a few occasions I have expressed my views on it in a sensible way. Its not neccesarily a power thing, more that some officers deal with sh*tty people so much (drug dealers, repeat shoplifting granny robbing druggies and gobby abusive fighting drunk people) that it rubs off and they become a little jaded and warped. What is ‘normal’ behaviour kind of goes out of the window a bit as they dont deal with it. Its no excuse or reason, just my view.

I will say that there are always two sides to every story and do you know what the taxi driver said to the officers? Do you know what was officially recorded? Is it going any further? Im not questioning that they may have been rude and sometimes a complaint or two acts as a wakeup call.

think of it like this –

Paint cleaner/cleaner wax is a very light abrasive for removing light swirl marks, dead bugs, tree sap, etc that havent been removed by a good wash.

Polish is heavier duty, going past the scratches and evening out the paintwork to fill the scratches. This is for scratches you can feel.

Wax is just a protective barrier.

I would have said Zymol for what you want. Easy to work with, smells good, relatively well priced too and you’ll probably get about 10 full cars out of it depending upon how keen you are with instant results.

People are different. Unfortunately, not everyone is confident, carefree and has the natural ‘bounce’ some people do. I am the type of person that given too much stress from someone close, I will take that on and cannot disconnect. Because of this, I know that entering into a relationship with someone who is diagnosed with depression would be a ticking timebomb. Id sink with the ship.

However, lots of people are not like this. If you like her, and shes feeling low there may be a logical explanation instead of being someone who regularly suffers depression. As the OP said he does not know the extent of it. Give it a go, be honest with yourself if you have to walk away.

It depends how much work you want for yourself. If you really want to go to town, wash it with a decent wash only (no wax) then use something like Meguiars 3 step process with a paint cleaner (good for bugs and small tar spots, very mild and easy to use) then their cleaner, finished by a wax. Once its done, generally going over with a paint cleaner every few months and a wax should keep it looking fairly tidy. Some colours will need more work (dark and blacks) compared to pale colours and silvers. If you dont wax the paint will attract the polutants again quickly.

As an alternative something like Zymol will be great but its a bit of an all rounder. It does smell amazing too!

This is a hard one on the basis that people react in different ways.

I have lived and looked after my mother who has had extreme bouts of depression. I have looked after her through a mental and physical breakdown, having to hide car keys so she dosent go and crash her car delibrately and lock all the knives in the garage so she dosent do something stupid.

I have also been out with women who have had depression and I myself have had it. You have to judge who you are; can you emotional detach to a point this will not affect you? Do you have a strong support network? Does she? Is she getting treatment? How serious is it? These are the questions I would want to know however asking her these will seem insensitive, disrespectful and judgemental at this early stage.

For me I would unfortunately leave it based on how I have dealt with similar things in the past and wanting to know the above. It says more about me than the other people I know but if you really like her go for it :) I am also younger, have not got the life experience you do and things are still a bit fresh with my mum so I cant answer fairly.

Yeh, true. Im not mechanically incompetent, a pair of Lyriks is easy enough but the Reverb service procedure seems ridiculously long winded. He bid £101 but won it for £97. I wouldnt put it past him to set up a new bank account, transfer all my money out and leave me broke! Hes that good on my phone its scary. Definitely a learning curve for me.

Ive seen perfectly working ones go for £130 which was what I was looking to pay eventually.

Most forks have enough adjustability in them to compensate for any increase in speed for using lighter fork oil. I used 5wt instead of 7.5wt in my Mission Control damper, works fine for what I want. Not ideally but fine as a temp.

I had a friend who used gearbox oil instead of fork oil on some old coil Z1’s, worked fine if a bit fast as its even thinner.

I had the same issue but other way around, 9 speed setup and 10 speed mech. The answer I think is no. I asked the same question but for my needs and someone said it was the cable cam at the back that changes how much cable is pulled through, not just the shifter. I bit the bullet and bought a new 10 speed chain, cassette and shifter. If you could change the cam from your current to an X9 10 speed it would work (someone went from old X0 9 speed to new X9 10 speed, cams mounted on rivets in the same place so he swapped. My old X9 and new X9 were different mounting points)

If she was to challenge social scripts of getting dressed why wear heels and a bag? Why do your hair and makeup? Why paint clothing names on your body when people know where they go?

If she was stouter, had hair where hair grows, no makeup and didnt look like she was just out of a fashion magazine maybe she would have been taken more seriously.

Not every woman has to be seen or is that no, by a long shot she is probably slightly slimmer than what people would think is the ‘norm’ but depends on how you judge the ‘norm’. However, she knows that if she were, it would not have had the same effect. Would everyone on here have said the same thing? Or would people be talking about how she shouldnt be naked because of her appearance? I get that discriminiation works both ways. I am not saying there is anything wrong if she were either way, just pointing out that people wouldnt act the same if she were of a larger build.

I didnt realise she was asked to put her dress on. But makes sense that they would.

I think the last photo shows it all. She is in a dress after, Id imagine, leaving the event. So she wants to cause a stir going to and during but then leave without causing a stir? How does that make any sense? And is she ‘natural’? Is she hell! Not a wisp of unsightly hair anywhere. Nor is she fat, has scars, stretch marks, etc. If she were the size of a house she wouldnt be doing that.

When I was a kid (Im in my late 20’s, just starting to forget!) I didnt do the same thing as we always had an au pair who would be with us. a bit posh maybe, but looking back I would have given anything to have my mum or dad tell me off and have the interaction.

At the same time I always had the utmost respect for my parents. These days, everything has slackened off, even from 15-20 years ago. You now need to sit him down and talk it out as he may not really know why. They dont just know why despite maybe telling him a thousand times. At the same time, kids will be kids.

and scientifically, they have proven that as teenagers brains develop they do not think about why, they just do. All down to the chemical mix.

Lots of interesting answers! Esp Scienceofficer.

Im an ex DH rider, I only ride up to ride down so im always going to error on the side of heavy. My bike isnt compromised and I wouldnt do something to compromise it, including tubeless if I was mega hard on tyres or tubes. Im going tubeless to hopefully have less hassle, save any amount of weight and possibly run a lower pressure if I need it. Im not a man of accuracies, I have no idea how much pressure I run in my tyres but go by feel.

    Thanks for the replies!

I thought a 200g per wheel minimum with standard tubes is a decent saving. Im persuaded to do it and my LBS said they will do the legwork!

Interesting. I was told that you should never use tyre levers on tubeless tyres if you ever want to run them tubeless as it mangles the bead slightly. I have tried to keep the other side of the tyre in the middle but seems hard to do with a wide tyre on a thin rim.

I always thought they were a Stans based rim with eyelets just down to dimensions matching up with weights being similar.

    Teethgrinder, sounds nasty!

CRC are probably too big and popular for Madison not to be interested. Sure, they shift a lot of OEM stuff they get from manufacturers rather than Madison but they must get an amazing amount of stuff from them in comparison to any other online shop. Wiggle Im sure is probably the only similar size online only retailer.

Is there special ways of getting the tyres on to the rims other than having the finger strength of a silverback gorilla?

    dooge

Its why I always buy Sram. Never had an issue and even if you dont have the Powerlink itll still join up as new. I have bought OEM stuff from CRC and generally its fine but on occasions like this its hard to see the benefit other than the obvious lower cost.

Its an NCRF, only bothered if you are owner of car 1 (accountant) or car 2 (Golf) however did the local plod get in contact? If I was them Id wanna know the details and photos and pass the offending details on. Maybe just slip another note on windscreen early morning and hope he/she picks it up on the way to work.

As above, boost problem is usually a case of a split or loose pipe and wont register any odd codes or warnings. Id imagine its a vacuum solenoid controlled turbo so there also could be a sticky solenoid or split vacuum hoses.

They have a list of ‘adult material’ and I have been amazed what has been on or missed off. The card thing is often a credit card to prove you are over 18, not for payment however I would do it over the phone instead of any popup.

I used to work for a large mobile phone shop and we sold our own insurance. It really depends what you need; some will cover for all scenarios and pay out regardless but is expensive (up to £13.99 a month!) and others are a bit hit and miss. Generally, the larger companies are better (Protect your bubble for example) however make sure you understand the policy. Some wont cover for water damage if it gets wet in a pocket due to rain or moisture as this is seen as negligent use of your phone whereas some wont care. If you say you ‘accidentally’ spilt water on it, different ball game (not promoting fraud)

I sold several insurance policies on the back of ‘my bank refused my claim for this or that’ as the all in one policies are generally a bit naff and cover for few scenarios.

You also have to weigh up do I need this. Are you a clumsy person? Do you break your phone regularly? Could you take cheaper steps to prevent damage/loss/theft? (decent case, not taking it with you, even moving which pocket you keep it in) How much is my phone now worth? If you are paying £8 a month over a year period, you crack your screen, make a claim (£40 excess) thats £136 that you could have saved. Most places will charge £50-100 for a screen replacement for most popular phones.

There is also the case of how much you rely on your phone. Is it a live on work on cant be without it or just an occasional thing? Insurance may be better in that good policies will swap old for new quickly or even offer warranty swaps within 24hrs instead of it taking up to a month to repair.
