It is a strange place to crack. All I can think is the seller knew it was cracked, sprayed it up to cover the crack knowing full well it wouldnt show again til it was ridden by which point Paypal may say well we cant gaurantee you didnt crack it on its first ride. Maybe Im just thinking too little of someone. its not carbon but aluminum.

I actually tryed getting a refund just after I bought it, it was an impulse buy but its always been a little small and I really wanted a mk2 but they just wernt coming up for sale frame only.

Flaperon, which width/compound/spec? Id be tempted to have them for a nominal fee if you wanna get rid. I like them, I had Big Bettys before and liked those but too heavy.

I had the same issue, they are all the craze but you are just moving yourself forward and putting pressure on something. I get away with a 50mm stem, 760mm bars, saddle set back to limit on a frame thats borderline too small (medium frame they recommend up to 5’10 and Im 5’11) as I like the control and chuckability. I had the same issue on my DH bike with 780-800mm bars. Do as above, set everything in 10mm at a time til you feel comfortable. Nothing wrong with cutting bars if you are going to keep them instead of buying new bars either.

Underhill, I was just thinking the same thing which is why their reaction is believable. Most Zombie films have to work on the same premise as well.

I watched it on FX on Sky at my parents, cant wait for season 5.

Not half as glamorous but as a student was more useful. Oh and not a skip.

Nearly ten years ago a flatmate I was living with came rushing home and said the Thresher near to us had ditched loads of chocolate, crisps and drink into their big red Biffa style bin. It was in a back alley we passed to get in and out our back door. Off we went.

we had 18 large packets of Walkers Sensations, 5 bottles of sparkling water, 10 medium boxs of cadbury chocolates and loads of individual chocolate bars, all just out of date but perfectly edible.

Never been lucky enough to find anything in a skip that may be worth anything though.

Put photos up of him happy and healthy if you havent already done so, itll soon start to override the pictures of the before vets incident.

He obviously suffered little and that has to be some condolence.

Hmmmm, interesting. I love the puncture protection and tread pattern is great, confident and hold their own on most terrain. Seems like I shall be paying a visit to Dartmoor Cycles (bit of shameless plugging) to find a combo.

Im happy staying with Hans Dampfs if they arnt so sticky. I find going downhill they fling up the tiniest of stones and pebbles because the tacky tread catchs them as they are going round. Maybe thats just me. I dont fancy shelling out on Nobby Nics if they are going to be pants.

    Thanks for all the opinions!

What rear hubs? Have they ever been serviced? If it were me Id be trying above. Sounds like there is a washer or similar missing from the axle assembly as the frame shouldnt touch the cassette. The axle should always poke past the cassette.

Both probably, maybe just rear. There are so many combos my mind is boggling at the moment. Do you use Hans Dampfs Clink?

Its good fun there, nice mixture of stuff. The cafe is lovely but oh-so-expensive. Also worth checking out Gawton for more gravity orientated stuff nearer Plymouth as well if you are down that way.

I sold something for a previous car id owned a few years ago and despite specifying to sell it to buyers from the UK only someone from Turkey bought it (Buy it now) who likewise had only a few feedback points. I told him I would be refunding his payment and not sending the item as my auction specifies UK buyers only. He got arsey and left bad feedback. I contacted eBay and within minutes the feedback was withdrawn and my auction fees repaid back to me.

Ive generally had good and fair service from eBay customer services.

Its partly how the networks operate their masts (or the outsourced companies that manage the masts) as most sites are rented for an astronomical fee. Im guessing most sites abroad are bought and owned.

Id imagine the networks are set up completely differently as well.

Probably down to less racey positions on bikes. My Nomad is more sit up and beg than stretched and racey so maybe bar ends arent practical or fitting. As someone said above, wide bars also happened.

By the sounds of it you have done most sensible things, any more and you may not see the benefit over your cost or time output.

Ever considered your own solar panels? I have met a few people who have created their own for under a thousand and it pays for half their leccy most of the year round.

02 are very good in Devon, its what the police service and the search and rescue groups use. Ive had Voda, Orange and Virgin. Virgin run off Tmob/orange/EE, GiffGaff and Tesco run off 02, Talkmobile and some other networks off Voda and 3 is their own network. You should look into which frequencies are best for built up areas, certain frequencies work better through buildings, etc but also some have a wide spectrum of frequency since 4g came in.

I cant say for London, but in terms of dropped calls Orange was the worst by a considerable amount. Voda wasent bad generally but I found the billing was all over the place. I like the UK call centres with 02 and always generally helpful.

Signal is very limited by modern mobiles. Our work radios work off 02 and they pick up signal everywhere generally, whereas my Samsung S4 dosent have much in some rural areas.

I should add I worked for the Carphone warehouse for 3 years and 92 were the best from a customer perspective.

I wait til I recieved the item and leave it, purely so they know theres nothing wrong with it and I have recieved it fine. As a seller generally Ill wait til they leave feedback as they may complain.

I get 44ish from my 320d regularly, about 550-600 miles from full to red, follow it with Fuelly. Whack all the figures in and itll do the rest.

I think it should be good, looks styled similarly to the first 2. The shame is the leading ladies, Charlize Theron and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Charlize maybe, but Rosie is only in it for the pouts across the desert. I would have picked Maggie Gyllenhaal.

I had a Parachute about 12 years ago when they were really popular and Troy Lee full facers were designated for the very rich and racers only. It died a death on crashing and although I didnt really damage the chinpiece it was fairly scratched. I would have had a cheek full of gravel if it wasent for the helmet.

It is amazing what you can pick up for bugger all money.

For example, my bimmer cost me £5k with 120k on the clock. Its had probably a further £2k spent on it with servicing, knackered shocks, springs (rear springs corroded) topmounts, bushes, little bits of rust sorted, tyres, parts due to being run off the road and odds and sods. Its in good condition, had preventative maintenance but also had mega money spent on it in a year and a half. I suspect its the mileage that things just start giving up but I intend to keep it so Id rather spend on it now than later.

My girlfriends car is a £600 mk2 Clio. For a whole year it had nothing. No tyres, service, even a clean! At MOT it needed new steering column, all 4 brakes overhauled with new pads, discs, drums and some piping, 2 new tyres, 3 wheel bearings, new handbrake cable and a new shock. It wasent cheap. Thankfully her dad is retired and pretty handy with a wrench and Haynes manual so did it all with some new parts, some from a scrappy so it cost her a few hundred instead of the cost of the car. Its since had 3 coil packs very quickly and now needs o2 sensors so may be time to say enough is enough.

I always put it down to how much the car is worth; if its worth £1000 and you are spending the same on the car, go and buy something else. Theres plenty of serviceable cars out there for under £1000 if you arnt picky. If you are attached to it spend the money, but the car wont be worth any more on the basis you have spent lots on it in servicing costs.

Get an app like Strava or Maverick where you can track how you got somewhere and then can help you plan to get home.

I corrected a friend who said that cyclists should pay for road tax as well as car drivers. Given she has a tax exempt Beetle I pointed out she didnt pay for VED (vehicle excise duty) and that her car was probably coughing out more polutants with its ancient engine than my farts do!

I would go for a narrow wide, not the cheapest option but will suit what you want and will actually work.

I posted something similar recently but I still found STW was the fastest way of selling most things. I was advertising my stuff on 5 facebook MTB pages, Pinkbike, Ride It Out and here. Ride It Out (Previously Southerndownhill) used to be very busy but has slowed down to nothing. Sign of the only just cheaper to buy new times.

Saying that, if its cheap enough itll go quick enough.

Theres a mix of things here that seem to be a factor. Consumerism and ease of access to too much information are big factors. Expectations are high of everything and results dont match up. Im not saying I dont love my phone, laptop and tv but Id prefer to be going out with mates far more.

Lots of interesting points, especially maccruiskeen. I spose the younger generation are measuring happiness increasingly through items bought and less experience. Im finding that in my late 20s im increasingly getting sucked in to the infotainment and trying to take a step back by just going out for a ride or actually visiting friends. My work is a fairly good factor in restriction too.

I can see this false presumed happiness is going to cause real problems for soon to be future generations who have grown up with it but what next?

How fast was he going to dent that like that? I rode a Kona Explosif with a bigger dent in the downtube for years. I eventually sold it on here but not sure if it still exists. I think hes a bit OCD, could have been like this! This was 2 hours old, from what I understand the owner bought it new from a shop in Morzine, hit a bank going a bit fast and thats the result. Forks were perfect, wheel was straight and true, just a fault in the frame.

I followed a car today and she seemed to be accelerating as she was braking so I kept my distance as the brakes were coming on quite a lot but not actually braking. When it turned into a duel carriageway I went past her and she was texting or facebooking on her phone which is why she was covering the brake so much! A quick beep and motion to put down her phone and she got quite embarrassed.

Likewise I spend some of my job telling cyclists to get off their bikes in busy pedestrian areas, stop riding the wrong way down one way streets and use lights in darkness. Its tedious!

We have little protection, even on a cycle path on the pavement we have less rights than pedestrians!

A lot of non cyclists are under the impression cyclists should be insured, and to a certain point it would be a good idea, especially if you get legal cover and a bike policy can interact with a car policy. At the same time it would never work as you cant police something like that.

I hope hes ok as well.

They need taking apart and servicing. Essentially on the spring side of my RC2DH’s there is simply a spring and lower rod so little to go wrong. Not the same but my forks were horrible when I got them. After I serviced them I had to change the spring from a soft to a medium and add a few preload spacers as they oil was brown sludge and had changed the characteristic of the fork.

I read about problems with the solo air’s and dual air’s when I was looking into Lyriks a few months ago but these were on early models where they wouldnt give full travel with any pressure or when the travel was locked down they wouldnt return when the lever was opened up.

Ive used Snowcard 3 times for a reasonable price. A mate of mine had to use them when he jumped the berms at Les Gets and landed on a kids bike totalling both wheels in the process. They paid out for it as he had reciepts.

Id have shin pads, possibly knee and shin. Tyre wise unless you are actually climbing go for something heavy duty. Dirty Dans or Hans Dampfs are tough but not exactly light. For the alps go heavy tyres with lots of protection and heavy tubes.

Carbon rims may be interesting, I wouldnt suppose they would be a major problem unless you plan hitting big jumps or you are a rough rider. At the same time with some of the rocky gravelly routes you will be getting lots of stone chips and scratchs on your rims.

Itll come up as an in trade marker with police ANPR and PNC records which is where your dad doesnt own it anymore and the new owner hasnt had the decency to provide correct details.

If he then doesnt insure it or tax it (to avoid being caught) if it ever gets checked by the police or goes through an ANPR camera itll come to their attention fairly quick. Ive been to a few previous owners address’s to ask them questions about bilkings (make off without payment) for fuel etc but its only to see if they can give descriptions or names of buyers.

As far as Im aware as long as your dad has notified the DVLA hes no longer the registered keeper he wont be liable for anything and its out of his hands.

Id get a second opinion from another BMW specialist garage. Say that you can occasionally hear a noise and you think its coming from the belt area. Unfortunately I dont trust anyone but someone I was friends with before.

It may be only just starting to go but have miles yet and they are just being overly cautious.

I am currently riding a second hand Nomad thats been powdercoated, so far, so good. I have mates that swear by it for providing a tough finish.
