I played in the same amateur team as Keegan for a couple of years. Although I don’t profess to knowing him closely I can say for certain he didn’t announce this with the intention of wanting to be plastered all over the national news. Knowing the area and environment he grew up in, I can see why he thought he had to ‘have a girl friend and have kids’ being gay was not something that would have been accepted very well at all.
I’ve spoken to with some of my mates who know him a lot better than me and to say they are all shocked is an understatement. But not one of them thinks any different of him. The amount of public support from his friends and team mates is testament to the kind of bloke he is.
And I’m damn sure he will continue to be the best dad he can.

A lad at work lives near Wakefield and owns a yellow commensal which he got through some cycle scheme or other. The only cycling clothing he has ever worn is a helmet. He’s always worn tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt. Not sure what kind of area he lives in though.
