Illegal parking makes life more dangerous and inconvenient for all.

    Except for the driver/offender!!

There used to be double or even triple parking here in Madrid, which was fine until it was abused. If you needed to pop into a shop for five minutes, double park. Longer than five minutes, double park and wait for someone to honk the horn when they want to leave. The problem was that somepeople would double park then disappear for lunch!

Now you have to pay! Double parking is illegal! Traffic wardens are employed as a money making exercise. So now I have to drive further to find a legal space when I only want to do 5 minutes business. Bollox to that, it may be illegal but it is still useful in a city where parking is expensive and difficult to find.

I do use a bike in the city, but it's not always possible.

If people can afford to pay, they'll park illegaly.

why be scared? a case of anal splinter explosion invasion fear?

Fair enough, but how many carbon posts breaks? I've seen posts break at the clamps, but never the shaft. I'm sure it happens, but it wouldn't put me off having another.

On the road carbon is a bit more comfortable, had one on an aluminium road bike. Also used one on an aluminium HT, can't say I really noticed a difference, as HTTP404 says, you spend more time out of the saddle.

    Why be scared ooOOoo?

Anti fog- put a dab of washing up liquid on the lens and then wipe clean jsut before your ride, should do the trick.

New chain, new chainrings and new cassette. It's the chainrings it's not catching.
Maybe take a link out and see how it goes!

If you don't like the heat, look at the north of Spain. Southern Spain will be very hot.

I thought there was more to it than just a long race, as the motorbike enduro was something different.

    thanks.

Don simon – dont get me worng i'd LOVE a carbon race machine! cant quite stretch to one though. how do you find carbon on the real rough stuff?

I wasn't having a dig. Not really sure what you'd call real rough stuff though. It's a hardtail XC race oriented bike. FS is going to cope a lot better on real rough stuff. Regarding trail buzz, it pretty much kills it and makes for a very nice ride. I love it, if you get a chance go for it. Orbeas are quite popular here, not sure why, and I'm now looking at the Orbea carbon road bikes. If you can be more specific I might be able to give more details.

One of those carbon fibre machines mentioned above…Orbea Alma, no worries for comfort, never got into the FS thing myself. Seen plenty of full sus though, even saw a tandem a couple of weeks ago.

Just downloaded faststone out of interest – not the first time it's been recommended on here.

At first glance / use, it looks pretty good but doesn't solve the portrait / landscape issue. If you want all your pics to be 800 pixels (say) on their longest side, there's a checkbox in Photoshop's Image Processor which will make portraits and landscapes 800 pixels on vtheir largest side.

Can't find a similar thing in faststone – am I missing it?

I think you're missing it. Go to resize, check the box/tab which says "resize based on one side", pick the side you want, pick the size you want. Job done.

I use faststonenow as Irfanview started doing strange things to some of the pixels. :-)

I can remember going out in an eight many, many years ago and not being able to get the blades through the ice, not the smoothest outing.

I agree, once in the blood.

I hope you were able to maintain a good stroke, didn't go too deep and definately didn't catch crabs. At the end of the day, it's all about keeping the cox happy, right?

Hope it went well and you've got the bug. Summer regattas are well cool and multi lane racing is as exciting as it gets!!!

20 or so minutes of gut wrenching, vomit inducing pain! What's not to like? Go and enjoy.

Give it to Barclays, they were able to turn an 18 quid overdraft into a 300 quid debt for me in only a couple of months. That was a few years ago too, imagine what they could do now….

But I am an artist you fool!.

I also think a lot of pro footballers should be worried when you consider the skill difference and the salary differences!!

Cream will always rise and I think that a creative photographer using manual mode will always outstrip the amateur using auto. The other aspect is a pro (in the world of cycling and other sports) photographer can get the photos that no-one else has access to. Nothing is easy, even for a pro, and you have to work hard.
What the public/your client think is acceptable and worth paying for is a different thing.

Is this thread still going on??
Have a look here for some tips.

Strange bunch photographers, I was talking to a guy a couple of years ago who had worked alongside Graham Watson. He told me that while Graham was a nice guy, you should never critisize his work as he (allegedly) goes crazy and simply can't deal with critisism.

20D doesnt go faster than 1/250th with the onboard flash at least. Or at least mine doesn't with the latest firmware etc.

No, not with the onboard flash. Look at my picture on page 2, info clearly shows 1/1250 sec and the flash fired! You simply need a flash with the capability of high speed sync, I thought it was just the 580exII but I also see that the link from above says other canon flashes sync to high speeds.

down side is that due to such high speeds the light ain't going to travel very far!

    donsimon

    how does that work?

    Dunno!

    donsimon
    Free Member

1/10000th of a sec with flash? Surely that's waaaaaaaay above the synch speed of the flash/camera?

I'd have to agree with you there, but at 1/1000th the 580EX II will sync no problems.

    simonfbarnes – Member

I try to keep around 1/1000th sec for most biking shots

wow, that would have required 62,500 ASA for this!

Which bit of "most" didn't you read,
You can do better than that!

Even during the day I'll shoot low speed with flash

    [/url]

Peter, click the pick for details, shot at 1/1250 with flash.

Manual 100% of the time, which can be a bit of a bugger on a partially cloudy day!

ISO also gets played with according to light, I try to keep around 1/1000th sec for most biking shots even with the flash.

Aaaaah, so you're in Spain too?

He'll get a better game with MUFC V LFC than going to see liverpool v sunderland, and I'm a Sunderland supporter!

    Yep, in Spain too.

Man U v Liverpool tickets will be like hen's teeth I imagine, I've got contacts for Old Trafford but that would be pushing too hard…

Just like Real v Barça, season ticket holders selling their tickets for €100s.

Nowt wrong with Sunderland, you had the pleasure of Keano for a while, right?

He's a serious Atleti fan. Looking at the booking site there appears to be an option for postal application, so he's sending a letter. I wonder if it's worth him speaking to Atleti for something from this end??

Shame it's not Man U, I had a bucketload of tickets a couple of days ago but that's dried up now!

Don Simon, you red or blue?

Why not go to Old Trafford the the 21st instead – MUFC v L'pool?

    Red, red, red, red OK?

I'm not travelling, just my friend!

    Thanks Mike,

He has a hotel booked and wants to go to the Sunderland game to see El Niño!
That ticket site looks OK, it's just he was quoted 200 pounds for tickets 8O. There must be cheaper ways. I suggested Wrexham for a classy game but he wants to se Torres.

I also feel steering away from the forums too.
