I answered the door many years ago to some Labour canvassers, 8am on a friggin Sunday. Slightly the worse for wear I threw on a T-shirt and answered the door. Two people a youg guy and a young girl. The guy did the talking while the girl stood behind behind him apparently in shock, wide eyed and open mouth. We finished and I went back inside, that was when something caught my eye in a mirror.

T-shirt had F*** Dancing, Let's F*** in 4" letters across the chest!! Last canvassers that year.

ss cross bike?! I didnt see another ss bike the whole time i was in madrid

ssing is becoming a bit more popular, but I often get funny looks and comments on mine.

I only spoke to shaggy at the podium and some of the guys from xcracer team.

Think a few guys and girls from our club are entering again this year.

Which club?

Spaz?? I've never heard of… there last year?

Last year I even saw a single speed Ciclocross bike.

It looks a proper xc racers dream and not a riser in sight.

I think it's a fast course and most bikes are xc bikes. The bad news is that those who have risers also fit bar ends. 8O

near Madrid?

Id love to come over, annoy eck and get some proper bravas from el barrio. got exams though

Surely any job will have the mundane admin side, even, or even more so, self-employed. If that is the problem with warranties, I think you'll find crap everywhere. If the procedures are unnecessary, then maybe you could find another employer.

Most jobs will have a certain amount of stress too, so good luck finding something which is stress free. Stress can be good if you know how to control it though. Tossers who create unnecessary stress will always be tossers!!! But stress as a factor to improve yourself is not bad.

Focus on the positives and find out why you started in the first place. What attracted you to the job? Re-ignite that fire. The grass isn't always greener.

I don't know if this is what you want. I think all the Sport frames are the same. The Tuareg/Dakar and Tenere are the same AFAIK.

Mind you, we don't 'need' photography or pictures at all, to survive.

AAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!
[fingers in ears]Nah nah nah nah nah nah[fingers in ears].

Clearly it was a personal question on my part. I've seen these things on sale and I simply wouldn't know what to do with it. I love photographs and photography, I love the image on paper and a good frame. I don't particularly like looking at images in the digital format.

People buy lots of things, people buy tat, people buy unnecessary things and people waste things. The world isn't perfect.

I think I prefer the personal touch and something a bit more imaginative/artistic than a digital frame. Maybe they will be curled and tatty, I presume m_f has the negatives, but the expression on mummy's face would be worth it.

Do you have photos hung/displayed in your house? Ever think you'd like more but don't have the room? Feel like a change? If not you're quite unusual, as the sale of DPFs would suggest.

Of course I have photos hanging in the house, quite a lot actually. If I want more room I'll build an extension.
I also change the pictures from time to time, not because I'm bored of them or because I want a change a lot of pictures are samples I have hanging around. My personal photos haven't changed in the last couple of years though.
I suppose the DPF is a sign, to me, of the throw away society, "OK, I've seen that picture for 15 secs, NEXT!"

2) when you get them out to show someone and bore them to death with the whole album.

More to do with the subject matter than the medium, no?

and they had pics displayed in large backlit frames, about 30×20

Sounds interesting.

with a slideshow constantly running.

Its a constant and visible reminder of times we would have otherwise forgotten. Its also good to look back at how much the kids have changed already.

But do you sit and look at it for any length of time, or does it run in the background not really being noticed? You know, like all those prints sitting in a drawer!

If I wanted high art on my wall, I'd go the HQ print and artwork route, but IMO, that's not what digital frames are for.

OK, fair enough, and just not my cup of tea! :D

what's the point of doing that?

No real reason, I'm just intrigued and I would assume people buy them as they provide something positive, nothing sinister, just that.

Maybe as a way of showing the snapshots to friends, as in passing around the snaps in the old days, I can see. But something constantly flashing in the background……….

thanks for that, but I don't go in for stress, so it's unlikely to be a factor

Me neither until the doc told me that my headaches, more like a sudden paralysing pain, were stress induced.

I guess you have everything under control, good luck.

How weird this thread is, I got a message via Facebook from my old man this morning after 17 years. Last time I saw him I was in my twenties, I can't even remember exactly. He was never around when I was growing up, working shifts and working abroad. When my parents split up he became angry and poisonous. The last thing he said to me was "**** off you little 5hit!"…. nice!

In the message this morning he asked "Are you my long lost son" ha ha! He was the one who left, he didn't invite me to weddings saying that I would embarass him! He didn't invite me to his birthday. He didn't help with my growing up and development, if anything he had a negative effect.

Should he have another chance to **** everything up angain? No, I don't think so!

Good luck with your meeting. I hope it goes well.

I had the same hassle in Spain. I had to call Ireland (?) every day to find out if it was ready.

Strange, I renewed mine at the beginning of the year. I went to the consulate to pick up the forms and photos to check size was ok, filled them in, took them back to the consulate with photos and money, waited a couple of weeks, returned to pick up new passport. No hassle, no problems.

It's really not glamourous, mostly it's just lots of hard work with long hours and crap pay.

Isn't it always the way, something appears to be glamorous but the reality is often the complete opposite. I spent a short time working at a TV station. Not glamorous at all. A bit strange when you were sitting having a coffee surrounded by all these celebrities…

Just to finish, I guess the only solution is to tañlk to them to see if they are kind enough to help you, but legally I don't think they are obliged to do anything.

Holiday insurance will probably be you only answer if they don't want to help. If they think that offering you a substitute vehicle will help towards the goodwill factor then you'll be ok.

Good luck.

What forms a contract?

And there, my friend, you have the reason that a lawyer will charge you a lot of money and a good lawyer will charge you even more. If you can make head or tail of contract law good luck. It's a long time since I studied it, but here goes.

The contract will be the terms you agree to this could be in the form of signing a document or simply your actions. They have included the clause about unexpected occurences, you agreed to these terms without identifying what these occurences are/might be.

Secondly, you agreed that they undertake the work with this clause included.

I guess that if these clauses are written on the back of a document which you didn't have access to until you had done something to demonstrate your agreement of the contract, then it could be demonstrated as unfair, (there's a case about car park tickets).

I suppose the contract was agreed when you handed the keys to them after reading and signing the appropriate forms.

The following was sent on the 16th March and did not hear anything about problems until April 1st

It is booked in for the interior fitting on march 31/april 1 so unless anything unexpected occurs we will have it finished for the weekend of april 3/4.

Don't really understand what's happened here…

It was sent on the 16/03 stating clearly that they weren't going to begin work until 31/03. So you had nearly 2 weeks to put pressure on them, am I correct?
They have also said that there is a provision for unexpected problems, you could always do some research to find out if it really is an unexpected problem or whether there is a history of this problem and in reality it isn't "unexpected"

Better to speak to a lawyer, but this isn't going to get you on holiday.

I know it isn't what you want to hear either, but I don't think, based on the info here, you have a legal case. Also any qualified lawyer can tell me I'm talking through my arssssssse!

Was the part about having the van ready an expressed part of the contract?

As in they were fully aware of the conditions and agreed, if not then legally I don't think you can do anything.

So

Get thejm to rent you an alternative, or pay for the cancellation costs of your holiday (first one is what I'd prefer).

isn't really an option.

Go and talk to them to see what can be sorted then look at your holiday insurance.

Was going to suggest a quick fag to keep the hunger pangs at bay!! Maybe not eh?
I changed my diet dramatically and now eat lots of lentils and beans instead of pasta, rice etc. Also I eat loads of fruit. Lost loads of fat over the last year, feel a lot healthier and my cycling has improved.
