If you gave it to them without specifying restrictions (and it sounds like you didn't do that) I don't see how you could retrospectively demand anything.

The copyright protection IS automatic, you do not need to specify anything!!
If the photo is taken from your Flickr account and used by another on Faceburke, you have the right to control the usage of the photo, but as the photo isn't being used commercially you'll not receive (much/any) money.
If the photo IS being used commercially, then you can sue for what is in effect a commission.

Proving what has happened, on the other hand, may be a bit more difficult. Nothing written?

If it's a hard copy of a magazine, get all the copies. If it's on the internet, get someone who is reliable and independant to act as a witness. Then speak to a real copyright lawyer if you want to sue. If not just write to the magazine expressing your desire and send by recorded delivery.

It is your photo, no-one can use it without your permission. What if it wasn't a sports publication but a BNP advert. Your photo, your name even and a supporter of the BNP? I think te majority of people would soon understand a bit more about copyright law.

    Saludos.

No, the copyright is automatic. Read here. :D

As above, you maintain copyright for life +75 years or something. The magazine should credit you and you can charge them for the unauthorised usage and ask them to stop using it. Copyright protects the photographer even without copyright being referred to, and the magazine knows it!!
Unless you signed away the copyright or gave full permission for them to use it how they want…

Haven't dunked for ages, but would generally go for the "quick dunk" or the "express dunk" where the bicuit will absorb a little of the liquid, but not so much that the structure of the biscuit is damaged and risks falling in.

Prevention is always better than cure. :D

I had a feeling that the disconnection might have been a Vodafone problem rather than Outlook. I'll give it a go on Monday with ADSL, but I'm sure I had exactly the same problems last week when I tried with ADSL.

    Thanks for your help.

Oh yes. The error message after the recurring message said that the password wasn't recognised. Signed out and back in using said password. Just before it cut inernet connection!!!!!!!

It's a dongle and I can see when it disconnects. I've just checked the "my server requires authentication" settings box and now it tells me it can't connect to the POP server. Checking this box is also against Yahoo's recommendations. :( GRrrrrrrrrrrr!

It's the internet connection which closes down.
This is the first time I've ever had the need for Outlook.

So, if we look at Yahoo, their guidelines say the POP3 is "pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk" and their SMTP is "smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk", I've tried using with and without "pop" and "smtp" prefixes.

I've just followed the Yahoo instuctions leter for letter. Progress! When I close the box for adding email and try to open "Send" "Receive" a box appears with email name and password, I click "OK" box re-appears without end, then internet connection closes!!!!!!!

surely it will only die if the vast majority of forum members decline to post to it ?

You're right, but I think a few were quite vocal in their opinions possibly intimidating others and preventing them from posting. It's a bit of fun and motivated me to lose a few kilos, but some people made it an uncomfortable place to be.

don simon, I'm asking for your opinion and not trying to change your point of view.

That wasn't directed at you, it was more for the juveniles and prevent the thread deteriorationg into a slanging match.

I agree with the sh1t way the press deal with national identity (Murray for instance -British when he wins, Scottish when he loses, but always a ****t!).

I wholly agree, but I disagree with the grief he gets when he says he's Scottish and the (generally) English fan base and press demand that he calls himself British!!

I think we need more British sporting representation and more than a Lions tour or the Olympics every 4years (if nothing else we may have more chance at winning something).

I love the idea of the Lions and also like the idea that we return to our home nations afterwards. We (perhaps just the English) are facing a problem with 2012 and the football team, correct? As the home nations won't give up their rights to be home nations, then there won't be a GB football team.
I also like the fact that the Irish team consists or can select players from the whole of Ireland and not have seperate N. Ireland and Ireland teams.

From my side it's the English who have to make an effort for us to feel more British and it's not upto the Welsh or Scottish (can I include the Irish?)to change. :D

don simon, would you consider yourself British if a flag was changed?

Probably not as I have lived with the idea for so long, there are also other aspects of life where we (Welsh/Scots/N.Irish) are marginalised. I had an example from the Guardian many years ago one day talking about the heroic British F1 driver David Coulthard followed the next day by the unceremonious exit (a crash) by the Scottish F1 driver David Coulthard!!!
If Wales don't qualify for the World Cup (I know it's a bad example, ha ha!) I would support England as much as I would support Algeria or USA. I also don't jump on bandwagons regarding England either, if England win the World Cup, hats off and congratulations, but I won't suddenly become an England fan. And I don't particulary like when the English feel they should support Wales when we (occasionaly) have success to celebrate. If Britain was a recognised name for the country and all citizens were represented, then fine. They are not. In my opinion there is a distorted view of what is British, with a heavy bias towards England.
Again at the Olympics the play the British national anthem playing homage to the monarch, the English monarch and not the Welsh monarch or the Welsh national anthem. Why should Nicole Cooke or Geriant Thomas receive medals to a national anthem which is not representative of their country, fine they're in the British team.

I could go on, but I won't. It's an obsevation so I won't be replying to any disparaging comments and you won't e able to change my point of view.
    Have a nice day.

I've got a Canon iP 3600 which I use mainly for photos. Back to back with a printed photo there is very little in it quality wise, for everyday use. It has got a more expensive brother (iP4600 I think) which has features that I didn't want The main advantage for me was that I could buy the cartridges seperately. I can use ink at an alarming rate though, I reckon that ink and paper, not the highest quality either (180g/m2), cost €1,00 per A4 photo. As yet I haven't found a company who can do refill ink either. Contrary to some reports, it will select the correct paper from the correct tray for the correct use, photo or document.

For me an excellent printer for the money. :D HTH.

When I worked at a consultancy, we used to make 40% regularly, and 60% often. Eeh, those were the days (well, actually, they weren't as I was just an employee not a shareholder or director, so it's not as if I got a big slice of that pie).
Maybe so, but they all indicate what the customer was willing to pay and then provided you with the profit. I imagine that if you simply add 40% to your costprice and you make a killing then you have underpriced and could, in fact, make more profit.

It was also a pleasure, convert.

As said, if he's got a retail price he just needs to take off his costs! Ta daa there's your profit. How many people are going to buy at this competitive retail price? What will happen if he increases the retail price by 10%? If he's not making enough money from this he will either have sell more units or reduce costs. What will happen if he increases the retail price by 10%? He also has to research all the costs, production, marketing, transport etc. If the cost of production, marketing and transport is higher than the retail price he will make a loss!
Then he'll have to decide how much to increase the price by and how many sales he expects to lose. Yes it really isn't rocket science, common sense in my book. Sorry if you thought it was a smart arse comment.

Amazing really it took us this long to get to the right answer!

So if you call the locals Gogs and they call you Taff, that confirms what I thought. It's a word that's used by outsiders for the North Waleans, so unless someone wants to insult me (I'm guessing that it's not used as a compliment)I'm not going to hear it.

Gog = North Wales gogledd is north in Welsh

Isn't the profit margin based on what people are prepared to pay? Then you can subtract your costs and you're left with margin. Therefore he needs to be talking to potential customers to find out how much they'll pay.
For a business plan he might get away with a break even analysis if the product is going into production, using different sales prices.

A product, no matter how good, is dependant on people buying it. Only one of the 4Ps, but quite important.

I think you have to align the objectives of the crew, remember you're in the bow seat, not stroke! So who's going to listen to you anyway?

How have the head races gone? How did the rest of the crew react? Are they looking to get to senior level? Talk about your objectives if you're a team, then go from there. Or wait and see how it goes in the regattas, you're a new crew, correct? Which means there will be plenty of changes until you find a regular crew who'll work together. Winter outings at 6am when you can't get your blade through the ice will help you find the commited ones.
