Fair enough, but he seemed to enter the conversations late, make random comments and generally appear not to be with it. Just an observation.

Ah.. see.. he didn’t throw epithets around, but he sure as hell insulted the crap out of me. Some very offensive accusations on a personal level, and then he refused to acknowledge that he’d said anything out of order.

    This too was witnessed.

That’s gone way over my head glupton1976, what are you trying to say?

    would you?

Well, clearly yes. TJ got banned and those who argued with him got banned. Not difficult, is it? The mods are not biased IMO. That should spell it out for both of you, nice and simply, no?

a few too many on here seem to be able to post just about anything without any comeback.

I would question the validity of this statement.

No rich parents/affluent schools mean you never do rowing,

Unfortunately this is simply wrong. There are lots of clubs which are open to the public and don’t require wealthy parents or attendance at a public school.
As for the people in public clubs not getting a bite at the cherry, again this is not true either, our club produced a world champion oarswoman. Maybe she was lucky to have been spotted by a well respected coach, maybe she was just so naturally talented, but it wasn’t because of money and not out of reach of many, discounts for unemployed too.
Maybe the public are not interested in this type of sport because they, misguidedly, believe they’re elitist sports.

They just like teasing you. They go slow enough to tempt you to pass them, then they hop into your slipstream. Tight fisted buggers those farmers, anything to drop fuel consumption.

We think it is getting in elsewhere in the row of cottages and running from loft to loft. The Verminator had a look outside and couldn’t see any obvious signs of entry on our property.

Might it be worth talking to others in the row? I’m sure you’re not the only ones affected at 4am.
Then bung up the hole with netting/mesh.

I don’t think you’ve got anything to worry about on that score. :D

Personally I think it’s sad that people are so quick to hate something they have no involvement or interest in.

I have a good friend who hates football, as far as the involvement goes their father was a pro who won international caps, a first division footballer lodged at their house and they were bought up surrounded by pro footballers. Quite involved I’d say, just a more informed view of the ins and outs of the professional game than most.
Hating something you’re not interested in? Sounds perfectly normal to me.

Ha ha I wish. But am just one of many and using email may give a better level of customer service which leads to more customers.

Are you not in danger of applying the ‘if it works for one group, it must work for all’ philosophy?
If a tradesman has plenty of work, receives work through word of mouth and doesn’t work in a way that’s scaleable, why should they change?

I’m thinking of setting up a ‘Dickhead League’ to track the number of times Forumites who aren’t interested in football come on to a football thread to tell us they don’t care…

    Whatever… :|

If I need instant comunication that is what the phone is for.

You’d have thought, but once you’ve received the email, the follow up email to check you’ve received the first email, followed by the third asking why there’s been no response and the inevitable phone call. I get the feeling a lot of people consider email as being instant.
Phone calls are much easier, IMVHO.

My bad, it sounded like a pre-visit bit of research. It’s still a bit of a political hot potato and fresh in the minds of some.

Ghosts of Spain by Giles Tremlett was also good but not about the civil war specifically and also covers more contemporary issues and the history behind them.

I read this and quite enjoyed it.

There’s plenty of experts on here, they’ll be along shortly. It’s just there’s a bit of a queue at Gregg’s at the moment.
