I am slightly obsessed with walking trousers and own far too many.

By the far the best ones I have ever tried were Mountain Equipment’s Ibex; they are expensive at around £90 (often on sale) but, for me, well worth it.

I often get this when I change prescription but my vision normally habituates after a few days or a week.

How long have you been wearing the glasses and do you wear them constantly?

News have just came through that their flagship store in Belfast is closing down. This may not impact many here but it is a major blow for regular users that myself and, more importantly, the scores of employees who will lose their jobs.

Make sure to book Skellig Michael in good time – it’s got popular & numbers are limited.

There will be loads of bike to hire on the Aran Islands; I recommend checking out Dún Aonghasa & the wormhole on Inis Mór.

And definitely do the Slea Head drive on the bikes when you are in Dingle.

Give me a shout when you are in Belfast/ the Mournes; I can recommend some good pubs & restaurants.

I has Giant Defy & Trek Domane which were decent bikes but I never really enjoyed them. I then got a Specialized Roubaix (with 32mm Contis) and can honestly say it is the first time I have enjoyed road cycling. I now wouldn’t be without the FutureShock (in my opinion makes things so comfortable & secure with no perceived drawbacks). If I needed another road bike tomorrow I would no hesitation in getting another Roubaix.

From Belfast heading North then West:
Causway costal route (Derry to Belfast)
Slieve League, Glenveagh & Kylemore abbey, Donegal coast & beaches
Clare Burren National Park, Doolin ,Cliffs of Moher, Don Aonghasa on the Aran islands, Clifden and Sky Road, Leenane, Achill Island (there a bridge!)
Dingle, Slea Head Drive, Inch beach, Skelligs Islands

Heading back up from Cork take the Motorways on the East coast and check out:
Brú na Bóinne & Trim Castle
Carlingford to Rostrevor (via the short ferry) then through the Mournes (e.g., Hilltown/Newcastle) to Belfast

Happy to chat through any of this in more detail.

I’d love a £50 voucher if there is one left. No problem if not.

I’ve been a member for 12 years. I recently changed to digital only as I had over 20 magazines that hadn’t been taken out of their envelopes.
The local routes and guides are of no interested to me as I am based in Belfast; Ireland (North or South) is rarely acknowledged. I have no interest in the articles on “Snow”, opinion pieces, Lamborghinis or the frequent re-hashed press-releases.
I am interested in the reviews of bikes and gear. However as others have said, almost every other free content provider does this substantially better. For example, I was looking forward to the review of the 12-speed XT, modern geo, full-sus Canyon 125 which concluded “it has much more in common with a fully rigid steel singlespeed than a modern full-suspension trail bike.”
Some people have offered (in my opinion) valuable in-depth constructive criticism of the value what Singletrack offers. Some of the responses from staff seem a little defensive, for example, the suggestion that “members see a price which is just about the best in the U.K” which a quick google search clearly disproves. It can be hard engage with feedback you disagree with but surely these are the voices that it would be beneficial to engage with.
The only aspect I use and enjoy is the forum. I have been happy to pay to contribute to the forum; having paid for many years I did find the page asking to ‘pay a little more’ a little unsavoury.

NI economy is doing better than the British economy thanks to the protocol. That’s not a good look if you are a pro-Brexit British politician…

MaryPeters or Cavehill are good spots for MTB, eg, http://www.mountainbikeni.com/barnett-demesne-trails-jumps-park/

If you fancy travelling further I’d highly recommend Castlewellan & Rostrevor.

Ards peninsula, out towards Tyrella Beach, are good shouts for the road bike.

I’m beside Ormeau park too so feel free to give me a shout if you want a bit more detail.

I have a 2015 2.4 diesel auto and it’s a great car. Good seats, pleasant to spend time driving, no boot lip makes it very practical (dog, changing, sliding bikes in & out, etc.).Fuel economy is neither great or terrible.
Very little issues. I’d happily replace it with an another XC60.

I’ve had a SB5c with the infinity link for about 5 or 6 six years. It’s been to the Alps, Spain, NZ, bike parks, etc.
The only issues has been with the pilot, the bike has been great.

I agree the red & black is the best paint job but the 9 is pick of the specs.

The thing is, if the Spectral 125 has the same weight & geo as the Spectral 150 (which reviewers talk about being a great poppy, pedaling platform) why would you choose the shorter travel? Genuine question!

I found this review a little confusing. Additionally, what I really would like to know is how it compares to the Spectral 150; the reviewer seems to hint at this without giving a direct comparison.

    Hey DrP,
Is this suitable for (a) someone who is completely new to Zwift and (b) someone who is completely out of shape?
I think it would give me a bit of motivation to start getting back into it!
    Thanks,

I do indeed have a sweaty, and also hairy, ass. Thanks Bill.

However the inside of my padded shorts were dry, while the outside was wet (seeping through) and corresponded to the wetness on the outside (and dampness in the inside) of the trouser which was visibly different (that is, the inside and outside looked wet).
It wasn’t a particularly wet day. It would have been puddles and trail spray that wetted the backside of the trousers.
