I would love to give it a go but I think the night time monsters would not let me sleep.

curvature sorry I meant in reference to size they would not last very long,I am not a Halfords fan or even off there bikes but I must say this seemed the perfect stop gap until he is stronger/built up skills and wants to carry on cycling then he can have a good small 26 inch mtb.
I also did not want to be spending a lot on something he may not want to continue as I have been down this path before.
Hence the comment about the 13inch merlin malt!,built with air forks, deore groupset, disc brakes etc but he can have that soon enough if he wants it and it fits him which it does not yet.

I have recently gone through this with my son all ways had isla bikes and was on the 20 inch wheel one, wanted to try a 26 mtb but even a 13 inch merlin malt 1 was too big.
All the 24 inch wheel ones did not seem as though they would last very long so in the end went with a carrera abyss 26 inch think it was just under 200 pounds and with some small mtb tyres will be great for a good few years.
Honestly look this bike up its brill for the money and also light.

Thank you for all your replies.
Its definitely given me lots to think about, the laptop i have is older than i thought so not sure its worth spending money on, dvd drive not working, battery and charger not the best and worst off all taking around five minutes to boot up, and sometimes stopping when loading pages and just beeping loudly if not left to take its time.
The chromebooks really appeal to me in that it will be quick, continue to be quick and seems to fit my requirements well.(not sure about printing and word docs etc, But and its a big but perhaps its better to spend a little more and buy a laptop?.

Basically my si joint was playing up and causing my lower back to go into spasm.
Apparently very common if not caught early enough and neeeded to free off my back before working on si joint.
I apparently have a leg imbalance of around 7mm so am very wary about causing more problems.
Told rest and stretching and core training is what will help in future as i have been told that due to cycling i have a muscle imbalance which needs addressing.

basically I’m looking for people to ride with so if your up for it singlespeedstu or zippy I would take you up on your offer of a ride sometime.
    Cheers.

Well had a little change of heart in the end i have gone for two of there 1200 lights and the city slicker rear light.
Plan is to just run one light and for mtb riding run two with a splitter cable :D, battery may run down quick but will have two and i have two all ready.
Would be happy days if my helmet light hadnt packed up
