That mtx system looks good pity the bags are not waterproof, and no stock of the rack on wiggle.

So moving from avro to octopus, cannot get to see our last annual statement on avro despite trying loads and know its going up but how much per month because right now a £75 per month rise is not a easy amount to swallow or manage.

Good timing to ask this question, I have just starting thinking this myself, due to age, fitness, mojo etc.

After many, many hours sitting at the computer, I really like the look of the Specialized levo sl but its around 6k which I do not have but long term goal, sell all bikes for one and add money.

    Worried about weight and longevity.

Thanks for all your thoughts, the Atera is not looking that good now, more like the thule something else, it needs to fit 3 27.5 wheel bikes on small, medium and a large and would prefer them not to rub each other.
It will not be used that often as bikes will go in the back of van but for camping trips etc that is when we would need it.

Thats the older Thule that I had the 9503 it was great at the time but I am guessing times have moved on.
Will have a look at that one, little bit fair to come and try it and with whats going on not worth it, thanks though for the offer.

    Yep thats it.
If you got the axle too that would be great.
Not sure if there is a grub screw into the silver bit.
But basically the bit i need is that black bit.
Will not buy the bike without one.
If you could let me know that would be great.

    Hi,
Thank you, its just missing the rear axle and nut from the end, i am pretty sure there is a grub screw into the gear hanger bit but I am sure I can sort this.
If you have them that would be great, thank you.

Hi all and thank you very much for the messages back, I would need a medium in pretty much anything!.

Lots to think about and research and probably a million more questions that need answering.

The kind of riding I do mostly is straight out the door road, bridleways, cheeky trails and have been known and would like to get back into going to trail centres (god forbid!), also would not mind dipping my toe back into fun xc type racing so I suppose a 29er might be better.
But as said before something to get my mojo back and get me out there.

Ok so still massively undecided, this is a massive long shot and a big ask, anyone in the West Midlands area that would be willing to let me try there fat bike?, really do not want to waste my money if I do not like it prefer to save up and buy a 27.5 or 29er but that is a new thread!
    Thanks all

Thank you so much for the thoughts, it seems like I thought a bit marmite, has anyone got any thoughts on either the calibre dune or genesis caribou?.

    donkeydave

Thanks this is the kind of answer I probably need as I do not ride anything like what they are intended for.

Hi all after my second crash of the year on ice I have started to think about buying a fat bike for the winter and have spent hours reading about the calibre dune which seems the best money wise option.

I rode a Voodoo wazoo fat bike for a quick blast around a car park and could not help but think it was over weight and very hard to ride.

Question is am I missing something and should I give it a try?

Hi all thank you so much for the thoughts and suggestions, I keep looking at the tacx t2240 especially the reconditioned ones on ebay but cannot help but wonder if it would not be enough, have also been looking at the interactive elite rollers thought this might help with the boredom.
I am thinking i just prefer to be outside!
    Thanks again

Hi yeah I thought this and this is why I brought the trainer, its a i-vortex which although I can vary resistance on the bar mounted computer it will not be compatible with Zwift.

Its model is t2170 which is not supported by Zwift just found this out!

    donkeydave

Thank you it appears even though my turbo is a vortex its not a smart vortex which is a pain its a i-vortex, I can control the resistance on the supplied handlebar mount but it will not work with Zwift to them its a dumb trainer which is a pain as this is why I brought it.

I will look into sufferfest as well and try that, not sure Zwift is for me prefer to be outside I think!.

Only just seen this hope your marriage is still intact unfortunately its too big for me😂.

Still have not decided what i want or just keep the 26inch bike.

    donkeydave

Funny thats the bike I have been looking at from Pauls cycles, I really like my old school 26 inch wheel 3×9 but the new bike bug is biting lol.

The 29er was about 5 years ago so perhaps I should not rule them out.

Yeah I have been looking new and secondhand, the 29er I borrowed it for two weeks, it was a Merida big nine 500 tfs and the reason I did not like it was the wheels seemed flexy, hard to wheelie (sad but true), and it felt dead if that makes sense.

Perhaps some test rides are in order.
