I have used Joe’s narrow rim strips and they worked great and without any problems.

Perhaps a Roval Control Trail 29 Wheelset. Similar price to Hope, and use a dt swiss 350 rear hub.

Are there sag markings for 120 mm travel. My old sid rct3 had markings for both 100mm and 120mm. It maybe that you just need a new 120mm air spring.

My lightwave tent has worked well. The only issue with mine is that the inner needs to be pitched first, which can be an pain if the tent needs to go up when it is raining. I think the newer lightwave tents allow for the fly to be pitched first. The XT versions also have a large vestibule that is handy if you have bikes with you.

Evans have some of the Gore Fusion Trail shorts on sale at the moment (£54) and with the £5 of code (ECWC5C) will make them under £50 which is pretty good value.

If the apartment is likely to be rented quickly it might make sense to ask the landlord and letting agent (if there is one) to put the apartment back on the market. You will have to pay the costs (advertising etc) and all expenses until the apartment is rented. However, as there is 5 months left on the tenancy it may work out better. We left out last tenacny early (4 months) as something more suitable came up. We ended up paying about about one months rent and the letting expenses as it took a month for the house to be let out again. The key thing is to speak to landlord soon and make the decision quickly.

Junkyard, yip that is the link. the set up makes the etrex much better on the bike. I have had no problem with mine cutting out. I remember reading that they made changes to the new gen etrex to stop that. Like Marko, I think the bike mount is very solid, and it is quite difficult to get the garmin out of the mount.

I got an etrex 20 and it works really well on the bike. The garmin mount has been fine for me so far. I use the talkytoaster and the openmtbmap for maps. Both are great for what I need. The page layout of the etrex is not the best for bikes out of the box but can be adjusted to work better. Google ‘taming the garmin etrex’ and you should find the tips on how to improve the layout. Battery life is good and the gps works well.

You could always take a trip down to Glendalough where there are some nice walks and so on. It is about an hour from the city if you have a car, but there is also a return bus that leaves from the city centre. Kilmainham Gaol is also pretty good. I went there for a few school trips and remember it being enjoyable. I am not sure if your children would be interested, but walking tours of Dublin are actually great, once the weather is on your side.

Enjoy the trip. My Dad is from Union Hall so I spent lots of summers down in west Cork. Beautiful place.

I was in Hvar when I was a student. We stayed in Hvar town. It was great fun. Lots of sun, good food and all. I went to Dubrovnik a few years ago with my partner. It is a very nice town but I am not sure if I would rush back. After Dubrovnik we got the ferry to Hvar and stayed in a town called Sveta Nedjelja. It was really beautiful. We went to go climbing there, but it was way too hot to do anything once the sun hit the rocks. It was a great week sitting in the sun, swimming and just relaxing.

I went from a Soul to a Trek Fuel EX. They seem to have a similar feel in term of geo.

The etrex 20 works pretty well on the bike for navigation and as a general bike computer. The interface is a little clumsy out of the box, but this page gives good info on setting it up to work well on the bike. The setup allows you to flip between the map page and the trip computer page by just pressing the back button.

I have the etrex 20 and think it works great. I followed this guide to set it up. Page 3 of the guide shows you how to organise the pages so the you can flip between the map and the trip computer with one button click.

Nothing but good things to say about j-tech. I got a really great service and James was great to deal with.

I have just put the Talkytoaster and the openmtbmaps on my etrex 20. They both work really well. There is a comparison between the talkytoaster and the os maps here.

J-tech and Loco I think. Everyone has nothing but good things to say about Loco. I have used J-Tech, and James was great. I will be sending my forks and shocks there in the future.

While it does not deal with the rct3 damper, this is a good guide and makes up for the poor manuals you get with the rockshox forks.

There was a previous thread on the Rct3 damper a little time ago which was pretty good.

Methers27: If you are looking for some fixed travel 120mm Sid RCT3 (see my previous posts) get in touch. My email is in the profile.

I have run a 90-130 u turn recon, a fixed travel rev at 140mm and 130mm, and a sid at 120mm. I felt 140mm was too much for 90% of the time. With the fixed travel forks at 130mm and 120mm you just set the bike up well and it climbed and dscended great. It was never perfect with the u turn, although it did allow me to play with settings.

The DP revs are also 150mm max. I would stay away unless the lower travel option works just as well as the longer travel option.

If I knew then what I know now, I would stick to a 130mm Rev (and I have 120mm Sid Rct3 which I am trying to sell to prove it).

For those who like ‘What’s Eating Gilbert Grape’, an early Lassa Hallstrom film called

    ‘My Life as a Dog’

Keeping the Swedish theme, two Lukas Moodysson films:

    ‘Together’
    ‘Lilya-4-Ever’

A film which I watched when I was younger and which had an impact on me:

    ‘Palindromes’

Try the washing up liquid neat. I managed to get them up with a track pump on a pair of xm819s with this method. An alternative is to put a tube in, seat the tyre, then take the tube out leaving one side seated on the rim.

I am around 73-74 KG. I am running 90PSI and get around 25% sag. As has been said above, compress the fork a few times to get air into the negative air chamber then check for sag. Use the low speed compression to stop brake dive etc.

Can’t comment on the superstar guide. Have been using the E13 XCX for a couple of weeks now and it is working great with a clutch mech. I am using it with an ISCG adaptor which makes adjusting chainline a little easier if needed. However, the chainline was perfect without any shims between the backplate and the ISCG adaptor. It is very solid and very well built (as you would expect for the price).

Perhaps a leak from the positive to the negative air chamber or the two not equalising properly through the little indent on the inside of the stanchion. Might be worthwhile to take the lowers off, take the air spring out and re-greasing everything.

The tube from a big cling film works well.
