Regarding old bits of kit still in service, the B52 bomber went into service in 1955 and isn’t due to retire until 2040!

If you could apply the cooling technology used in gas turbine blades to ice, you could put it in an oven at 200c without it melting

Do you lot work for RR then in Bristol? I hear there’s a Java dev job going

I work there as an apprentice, in my final few months. Checked the vacancies and it showed the java dev job as being in derby??

Not good for RR = not good for me 🙁

I’m not involved with the civil stuff, but this is bound to have some company wide effects, if indeed it was engine failure (which it looks like)

Thanks for the info Alan, very informative. Just want to say I’m definitely not looking to set up a dodgy business, just interested in the businesses of others……..

Have heard a similar story of a Corrado windscreen being fitted 7 times and still not on right. Also done by autoglass.

Have you tried euro car parts? They can be good on price, but cheap pads will still be cheap pads. Atleast from euro there's some assurance they aren't dangerous.

11.5 is very low for battery voltage, mine wont even crank with anything less than 12

Coincidentally just bought a corrado on saturday. My first ever VW but so far am loving it.

Still a large enthusiast scene like the golfs and parts are available.

Could get a mint vr6 storm for the money you'd spend on that mk2

I was in the exact same position as you last week. Ended up getting some reba teams with pushloc for £150 off the classifieds and couldn't be happier.

+1 for the deores. Had mine for over 3 years, very good, no maintenance and often go on the classifieds for dirt cheap.

Just finished watching band of brothers again after getting the bluray dead cheap from play.

Fantastic watch if you've never seen it before.

I can vouch for the sony player listed above. Got mine last week and have been watching Band of Brothers. Absolutely fantastic picture on my 40" tv and the DVD upscaling is very good too.

Piracy has seriously effected the pc market. Developers tend to release games for the pc months after they appear on console. They are then pirated seriously quickly upon release. A lot of the games never make it onto pc for this exact reason.

PC gamers often get shafted in favour of console gamers, be it shoddy/delayed ports or missing features. COD:MW2 being a prime example where the PC mulitplayer was neutered (no dedicated servers). Response to this? Mass pirating/boycotting of a game that would have sold by the bucket load if it had the same treatment as the console versions.

I too was pleasantly suprised by them when i took the car for an MOT. They plugged into diagnostics with no charge (usually £40!) and no labour charge for replacing lambda sensor and re-doing tracking.

Waiting for something from Home Delivery Network, used the tracker to see it went out in the van yesterday morning but then went back to the depot a few hours later. Thinking they might have given up due to the snow.

Back in the van again today so fingers crossed

    Now that sounds like teaching!!

I thumbed through this years exam paper and it all looked very straightforward, as did the syllabus. Not sure I would have a problem teaching, just getting someone to employ me with minimal experience

All sounds good so far. Going rate nowadays is £20-25ph for GCSE, but I would be looking at a lower rate reflecting my experience.

Informal sounds like the way to go, it's only a bit on the side for me and don't want to be forking out for advertising.

Haha very good! Can't say I can do it without a pen and paper in front of me, especially with a non integer coefficient.

That why I would be aiming to tutor GCSE =]

Well i've looked at agencies but they require a minimum of degree holding tutors, plus all the associated fees etc.

I was only thinking of advertising locally or through free directories, hoping to teach around 5 students per week.
