Well I bit the bullet and tried this myself. I managed to pick up a Samsung Galaxy Y for a bargain £18 from ebay, bought an SRAM ‘out front’ mount and the male adaptor to fit.

I cut off the excess from the male adaptor and araldited it to the back of the phone case. Here’s the results. Took it for a quick spin and looks like it will do just the job. I’m running IPBike for Android.

I happen to know there is a large bottle of Gentleman Jack waiting for me under the tree. Once I open it in the morning, I fully intend to check its not a spoilt batch.

I owned a G60 for 18 months and loved it, until the crank bolt let go 🙁 The power from the supercharger was great, and had torque from low down the rev range.

Owning it wasn’t too expensive when compared to modern cars, but be prepared to buy some spares second hand as some parts are discontinued or prohibitively expensive.

In terms of VR6 vs G60 its swings and roundabouts I think. The VR6 engines will need the timing chains/tensioners replaced as they get older, a job which is around £1k I believe. On the flip side, the G60 supercharger needs rebuilding anywhere from every 20k to 60k, depending on which size belt pulley is fitted (smaller pulley = more boost)

Bodywork and corrosion doesn’t tend to be too much of an issue but mine came with many little niggles. Look out for broken sunroofs, faulty spoiler activation, and if you get a G60 for gods sake get the crank bolt changed! Also make sure you get paperwork to prove the supercharger servicing, if it goes bang you’ll have to buy another at £400+ and they are getting more and more rare these days.

I tried doing this year’s ago and found it was not possible. I ended up buying a piece of software which remaps the functions of the controller so GTA can work. I can’t for the life if me remember the name of the software though! It was/is a common problem so I’m sure Google is your friend

Jamie – Very nice indeed. Manual’d or CNC’d?

Did the exact same with mine earlier after realising the avid adaptor won’t accommodate a shimano caliper. Fingers crossed!

JonBurns – Yes I bought a cheap set of o-rings from ebay, enough to do the MoCo damper and dual air side, plus crush washers and even a stanchion o ring to measure sag. All for £8. Can’t fault them really.

After seeing the F35 blisk in the flesh it is a marvel of engineering. As are some of the more experimental RR technologies

I picked up one on freecycle. An old brother model. Hasn’t ran out of toner just yet and replacement is around 30 quid for 5000 pages. Great for text no good for pictures. It’s mono btw.

You seem to be able to pick up home models for less than 100 quid nowadays.

What is brundle doing, staying or going?

Here’s what he said end of October:

“Telegraph was wrong,I didn’t sign £1m Sky contract today. Calmly working through it, will end up doing what satisfies me most professionally”

Jake has confirmed himself, reckon everybody else is still in talks with Sky

Got a helmet from them recently. Opted for the free delivery service. Dispatched in about 3 days, arrived by 48 hour courier service. I got an email on dispatch and a text to confirm 1 hour delivery slot. Oh and the helmet was cheaper than anywhere else too.

    No problems from me

Just had my first aldi cycling gear experience. It was pretty busy and started getting a bit manic! couldn’t believe how many people were there waiting for it to open

Picked up a winter cycling jacket, pair of gloves and waterproof trousers. Time will tell if they’re any good

Suspected crank bolt failure = bent valves and new engine time

Most of the noise is the gearbox as it’ll be a straight cut sequential jobbie. The exhaust note sounds savage though

How are the 2 120mm fans blowing? Best to be blowing air in at the bottom and blowing out at top so you get a proper flow of cooler air

Some cars have two temperature senders, one for the ECU and another for the gauge. Perhaps the gauge sender is borked?
