One Cut of the Dead is indeed fantastic. One of the better films I’ve seen this year. If you’re not sure after the first 30 minutes just stick with it, honestly……

Just back from watching Knives Out. Very enjoyable. Star-studded Jonathan Creek style who dunnit. Very cleverly written, great showing from Daniel Craig in particular. Well worth a watch

Also watched Free Solo yesterday. Incredible film. Great camera work and a real insight into Alex’s character. Genuinely stressful watching, I felt exhausted when I left the cinema.

Defiant Ones and and Barkley Marathons seconded.

Hip Hop Evolution is a nice 4 part docu if you’re into that sort of thing.

The staircase was very good, although after some further reading perhaps a little biased.

Didn’t really rate Evil Genius, intriguing story made incredibly dull.

Been to Wrigley Field and At&t Park, and both times sat behind the batters box, on the 2nd or 3rd deck. Gives you a good view of the state of play, and if your not too far back you can see the pitcher work.

Thanks for the advice. Bit of a reality check really.

Perhaps I will look into more off piste/different areas.

    Cheers!

We went in December and loved it. Stayed right in the heart of Reykjavik thanks to airbnb, and got a hot tub. Plenty to see in Reykjavik and everything nicely in walking distance. Food was expensive but good quality. Beer is generally £10 a pint in a restaurant, but found a local pub selling local brew for £5 a pop during happy hour (most of the day).

Blue lagoon is very touristy, but a great experience. Try the ‘secret’ lagoon for something a little quieter. We didn’t manage to do the Golden Circle (only 4 hours of daylight when we went) but did attempt the Northern Lights tour with mixed success.

David Nutt’s book ‘Drugs:without the hot air’ is definitely worth a read whether you are for or against prohibition.

Evidence based harm reduction is the agenda, and he goes into good detail on the over reporting of MDMA deaths, marijuana/psychosis links, and what’s happening in Portugal and the Netherlands.

Don’t bother with LA. We did 3 days there on the way back and wouldn’t recommend it! San Francisco was great, as was driving down the Pacific Coast Highway. If you go to SF, Alcatraz is worth a visit but you’ll have to book in advance.

Correct Binners. There is plenty in the book about successive governments’ inability to make decisions based on evidence, and even breaking their own laws so they don’t have to listen to the drugs advisory committee.

For anyone interested in this subject I can thoroughly recommend Professor David Nutt’s book ‘Drugs:without the hot air’.

Plenty in their about evidence based approach to reducing harm, the reasons for addiction and Portugal’s approach to decriminlasing drug use.

I got an SJ7000 as a first time underwater camera. Just came back from Hawaii and managed to take some fair photos. The compression on the pictures and videos is noticeable, and unfortunately you can’t change what bit rate to encode in. Still for £60 I got some reasonable shots.

I too wondered about the bottled water use by dates. It turns out the date is for the plastic bottle, not the water.

Gollem’s Proeflokaal is a great bar with loads of decent Belgian beer. Worth checking out after a walk through Vondelpark.

Today’s F1 engines top out at 15k RPM but drivers shift at 10-11k as that’s when the fuel limit comes in.

‘Cheeky’. As in ‘just going for a cheeky pint’.

    What’s cheeky about it!?

Are you of legal drinking age? Check.
Is the pub licenced to sell alcohol? Check.
    Is the pub open? Check.

This goes the same for almost all ‘lad’  humour, including the word ‘lad’

Torro Rosso are using Renault PUs, same as Red Bull. Which makes there performance even more impressive, and Horner’s whinging even sadder. Maybe the chassis isn’t quite as good as they are telling themselves it is.

Totally agree. Have been waiting over a year for this release but left disappointed.

The middle of the film was a bit tedious, and the ending was bordering on ridiculous. Shame really given the cast and director

    Fordham – Wisteria Wheat
    Bristol Beer Factory – Heffe
    La Trappe – Witte Trappist
    Camden – Gentleman’s Wit
    Schneider Weisse – Original
    Franziskaner – Dunkelweizen

All good wheatbeers IMO, across a few different styles.

VW Corrado VR6 storm, or a Campaign edition if you can find one. Good ones are getting harder to find, and only 500 storms were made.

At least you can get at these sites.
Virgin Media have blocked pretty much anything remotely linked with torrents.

    Unless anyone knows otherwise…

Proxy services get around this problem. If one were to type “free proxy” into a popular search engine, I’m sure you would find a suitable solution to your problem 😉

I have this machine. Had it for 18 months, and used everyday. Can’t say anything bad about it, but I never use the steam wand so not sure what that is like.

I paid about £240 from currys a 18 months ago I seem to remember.

Southmead, lockleaze and Knowle West I would avoid. Careful of cheap rentals advertised as being in Westbury on trym, chances are they are just in the arse end of Southmead.

Traffic can be bad at times but I’ve lived here 6 years and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

You want something like this http://mobile.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?moduleno=43091, or the male equivalent. That’s the one for dx lights, but looks like magicshine lights use a narrower connector so best to go in to a shop.

If you’re soldering it yourself make sure you keep the polarity the same.

Maplin if you want to buy in the flesh, ebay if you can wait for postage.

Maplin would be better to ensure you get the correct one.

Funnel Blower from Box Steam brewery is a lovely porter.

Bath ales’ festivity is good, and Bristol Beer Factory had some cracking stouts in their 12 stouts of Christmas, last year.
