    Borderland.

Apparantly based on a true story, still churns my stomach thinking about it. Never made it to the end.

aww wee pet. My nephew is inconsolable if “blue bear” can’t be found. In case he ever went missing they bought a very similar one, which he found, and knew was not blue bear :)

I think the more space you can get the better. I was mocked for buying the carpet for ours, but it really does make the whole affair nicer. walking about on the groundsheet in bare feet is horrible.

I also got a porch for the tent, which has a separate groundsheet but we didnt use it. it was a good area to store the stove and coolbox, dirty shoes, brollies, dry the dog etc etc. The shape of ours, a Mojave 5 makes it near impossible to get in when its wet without letting lots of water flood onto you or get inside. The door on the porch is much better. Mind you at 18kg + 11kg for the porch its a tent for car camping only.

havent heard of kampa, but 4000 hydrostatic head is good. ours is 3000, it stood up to some horrendous weather in Skye recently.

Both my billys are now full, however i must admit i have stopped buying paper books with the exception of travel guides, since i got my kindle.

The bookcases will stay though. I have no idea what else i would put along that wall!

Just back from a week glamping on Skye. The midgies were awful :(

Baseball caps with midgie nets attached are where its at. Dont forget a straw for the wine/beer!

I feel for her, but you can’t argue with the team performance that won.

In football, do the registered team, including the subs, not get awarded a champions league medal etc? whether they have played or not? seems fairer in team events.

Of course you couldnt have a team of 20 for a 3 person event :)

i really enjoyed it, its long, but i wasnt bored at any point.
bane character was a bit unfair on lip readers.
thought the cast was pretty good, I do like Christian Bale anyway.
If they carry on the last character to a fourth film, i do hope they fix his outfit.

youll be fine, they dont chuck you on out on the roads straight away, plenty of time in the yard.

    dolcered what is DAS?

    DAS is Direct Access training.

As far as i remember your CBT allows you to ride on the roads for 2 years on L plates, after that you can retake it, or do the full test. I was 30 at the time, i decided rather than get a 125cc or a restricted bike that i would go on and get my full licence.

I opted for a weeks intensive course, learnt on 500cc machine and sat my test, and passed. The learning curve was steep, then one day it all clicked into place.

I bought a learners big bike after that, an kawasaki ER-6f, big enough for my shortness and as powerful as i want to get. Took it to the TT last year with the OH on his proper bike (so he says) Kawasaki Ninja.
We are team green on our bikes :)

I had to go back a second day for my CBT.In hindsight was a great thing. It was a lot for me to take in, I was physically and mentally tired, so going out on the roads would have been a bad thing for me. It was my first ever time on a bike as well.

Don’t be put off, its all for your safety. After that i passed DAS in a weeks intensive course :)

    Good luck.

Had never heard of it till it was on the news a few weeks ago. Fell into the trap of reading to find out what the fuss was about.

    “oh my” its garbage.

I think computer kids would find it a doddle.
I did lots of practice ones online first for my bike test, its easy to click too early or too much.
    Passed though.

my snugpak does go into to the teeniest wee bag, but i need to wear more clothes in it! Extra clothes probably use up any space saving from the bag itself.

i was considering getting mine removed (C30). Im at 73K with no problems….so far. Change interval is 75K

Its my 2nd ever diesel, first with a dpf, they forgot to mention it in the sales pitch.

I know of a garage who will remove it and remap ecu. The independent i use for repairs recommend taking it out and cleaning it first, and advise “giving it some welly regularly”. Theres a 3mile average speed section on my way to work, i often do 3rd gear at 50mph in that.

Support for independence has always hovered around the 50% mark.

I think the SNP gains up here have less to do with this particular vote and more to do with not wanting labour or tories at the helm.

very strict in my experience. I was lucky enough to be called out to check my bag size. had to hammer the damn thing into the cage. Got there though. The woman did say i could remove stuff and wear it.

A woman in front had a trolley dolly case, and a plastic bag with two bottles of water in it. She was made surrender her plastic bag and carry the bottles on.

I’ll be trying to go Easyjet next time.

I only used the instructors bikes as well for DAS. A lowered er5 was the beast. Just as well, i dropped it a few times trying to master the u-turn (pre mod1 mod2 changes)

Poor little mite. I can understand where the fear comes from. In my nephews case, (2.5yrs) he was scared when my GSD was standing up, as he was eye level with her mouth. He was comfortable with her lying down, just not standing. He has gained in confidence, we never pushed the issue, but he now wants to use her as a pillow, she’s happy to oblige!

I think it will take time, meeting a few nice calm dogs would probably help if he’s ready for that.

when ours sliced a chuck of hers off, (during winter, lots of salt about) we put on a dressing, followed by plastic bag, then an old sock over the top.

We bought a paw wax, to be honest i dont know how effective it is, but her paws smell nice!

A couple of proper lessons might be worthwhile. Would help you develop right technique from the outset. I was an adult learner, still swim the taught way, alternate side breathing etc

i cant help but comment on these threads even if i have on all the other ones as well!! definite yes.

ive got the 3g and keyboard one, which was handy recently in poland for free internet use.

its got me back into reading. I like the fact you can sync it with your smartphone and carry on reading on your phone, surprisingly handy.

you can get lot of legit free books from amazon and lots of “free” books from elsewhere like ebay etc. im still ploughing through my proper free ones.

Can you get library books on the Kindle?

depends on your library for ebooks in general. but not compatible with kindle. im sure there will be a sneaky way to make them so. Yet to try and find out though.

Im on a similar system with Scottish/British gas. They do an estimate based on how many rooms. At first i was 30 each. This has now been reduced to 17 and 18. If my credit builds up to a certain level i get an automatic refund.

While i suppose id rather the cash was in my pockets, i prefer not getting a massive bill all in one go, as the saved cash would likely be spent on other things.

I genuinely can’t decide. I perceive sportsman to live a priveleged life and to be role models for upcoming athletes. For them to throw it all away and cheat for personal/team gain is awful.

But then they’ve served their ban…

However a “you won’t get a second chance” would i would hope be a greater deterrent.

my driving instructor suggested i get my eyes tested on my 2nd lesson!
he was right though, not just a cheeky sod. i was borderline shortsighted, my prescription has gone from -0.75 to -2.75 since then.

    hateful little critters

anti histamines are useful, if like me you react badly to them.
skin so soft from avon used to be a good repellant.

best thing ever, baseball cap with midgie net attached to it. youll feel a numpty at first, till un-hatted folks are getting bitten to death.

Firstly good luck, I did a similar thing in 2008, 54miles in 24hours The Caledonian Challenge. Team Blisterin’ Hot Babes. (see what we did there)

Hope the training is going well. I think the longest one we did was 30miles (where we got hopelessly lost but thats another story).

    Things that helped us:
amazing support team with a VW camper van:).

well used boots. dunno what terrain you are on, we were on WHW so boots were only thing i considered.

if its the same sort of set up with several checkpoints plan out what hot meals you will be having at your stops. Bacon and egg butties and hot tea at 3am made my morning! have plenty of nice treats for yourself for along the way, you will deserve them.

fresh baselayer/tshirt and socks when you stop. (more if weather is rotten) Separate change clothes into individual bags, so no hunting about for them when you are tired.

sort any feet issues when they happen

walking poles made life a bit easier, i used a pair of cycling gloves with mine

We treated it as a normal hill walk day out, so will all the usual kit we carried ibuprofen and paracetomol (just in case) and in my case knee supports.

if there are massage pit stops on the way, take advantage of them. They do help.

follow the bum shaped rock rule, if theres a rock big enough for your bum you are permitted to sit on it.

    stick with your team.

i cant think of anything else off hand, questions welcome. have a good time, and enjoy, its hard but doable. :)

theres probably a torrent or some dodgy way to get it.

my local library is starting to issue e-books, except to kindle as amazon wont allow it.
