have things changed, i thought kids were allowed to ride on the pavement up to a certain age?

i hope it doesnt put your son off. Saddens me to see obese kids.

Install an airhorn on his handlebars, they cant accuse him of sneaking up on them then.

there were plenty of non-catholic kids in my Catholic school, in deepest darkest lanarkshire no less.
I honestly dont believe catholic schools fuel the problem, but parental teachings/guidence most certainly do.

When you leave school do you only hang about with people of your “type” at uni, college, work, well no (in most cases). If youre brought up to be a bampot, you probably will be a good example of a bampot.

in my experience they are made of cheese. had to get one replaced when the cog lost teeth causing it to jam and illuminate the pretty lights on the dash. I cant remember if it affected mpg but i guess it must have. A good clean up should sort it though?

Brilliant, best post i’ve seen today. Good on you for giving him a home.
They make excellent companions. Couldn’t be without our GSD now.

2nd the fur comment, they lose an unbelievable amount of it. Plenty of brushing :D

should have said, last week tues-sat was 350quid for the room. Easter is coming and the beautification of Pope John Paul, prices are set to soar, as well as it being really really busy (which it was anyway)

Just came back from Rome on Saturday night there. We stayed at the Hotel Piram, on the nicer side of Termini Train Station, walking distance from the collosseum. http://welcomepiram.hotelinroma.com/

It had just been refurbished, the rooms were lovely, breakfast wasnt great, but im not a fan of european breakfasts anyway.

Everthing is walkable, so sturdy shoes are required. There are a couple of big events coming up, so availability and prices will prob match that!

I feel im a bit lax in my eye care after reading this thread.

i use Dollond & Aitchison monthy lenses (take them out overnight), they are 15quid a month. I get 50% discount on specs. Never had any major probs with them. I usually keep an old pair as spares, im good at losing the little criters, or trapping them in the box so one bit goes solid overnight.

I see the difference Taylorplayer. When we got our rescue shep we used a long line on her until we were sure of her recall.

She came supplied with a retractable lead. We no longer use, we decided that if she was behaving properly, then she was off lead, if not or in an area/situation where its not appropriate shes on a short lead.

we were recommended the shaky tin thing to stop our shepherd chasing cats. tried it once, she was so petrified of it, it didnt seem the right approach. We’re still looking for what is the right approach. Till we do know, its a gentle leader. Doesn’t help with the barking though. (shes fairly quiet)

lots of subbies in our place.

if you choose to pay yourself minimum wage (and many in our place do just this) 6 to 12k, to avoid paying high tax levels, proper NI contribution, but still wish to be able to rock up and use the NHS etc, i think its shameful and unethical.

You make your bed, so you should face the consequences if they come knocking. Only ever heard of one being done though, the stress he was put under doesnt appeal to me.

ah all lovely. What was that, post another pic of Maddie, ok :)

experiment with a canon 50mm, so focus not quite on the button, but i liked this pic anyway.

2nd Go outdoors, they tend to have a lot of tents pitched and chairs etc inside.

We got a hi-gear mojave 5, i notice GO have the newer model which has fly sheets on all doors and windows. Ours is windowless, so very avatar like inside :)

Its not bad for pitching, but prob a 2 person task till you got used to it.

thought it was awful. maybe if youre obsessed with dance you might be able to empathise with the lead character. otherwise i found her character weak, (mental health issues aside). not a film for me.

Now office space from 1999 gets my vote.

when my other half is on his way to a hypo, (im getting pretty good at being able to tell) , hes usually very insistant thats he ok. to the point where he wont take anythng off me to eat, happily on those occasions hes let the sugar fairy shove dextrose sweets into his gob, so long as he cant see me. After that i usually follow it up with some longer acting carbs (harder on the trails i guess).

The general advice is if you suspect a hypo, treat for one. Might be worth you getting a packet of energy sweets, so you know where they are. rather than having to check all his kit for whatever he uses.

Going too high can also be a problem, from memory, if over 15 you shouldnt exercise.

Although we both had lived with dogs in our childhood, neither of us had one for 15 years or so. We decided on a German Shepherd, again, we were both new to the breed The rescue we went for have been running for some time, and did the usual initial home check, security, garden suitability etc (i ruined my nails building a higher fence :( ), they chose a dog for us taking into account we were new to the breed.

Don’t be put off by being a first time dog owner. The first month for us was on foster terms only, if anything wasnt working out the rescue people were on hand to help out. (i have a year old nephew so it was important that little people werent going to be a problem).

Maddie is 4, she did know her commands, but we took her to training classes anyway, good as a refresher if youve not had a dog for a while. As i cant resist, heres another piccie :-

Yeah, rescues are great. We went to a breed specific rescue, Maddie had been assessed so we knew things to watch out for immediately, it didnt come as a surprise that she hated cats! When we got her, the rescue phoned a few times, and came out for a home visit to check she was settling with us.

Many dogs end up in rescues through no fault of their own.

O neg is very good, your blood can be given to anyone.

    b neg here.

I was there in July, I wasn’t as fit as I wanted to be. I did some of my training after giving blood, and i seriously think that helped!

Never saw a leopard, did see the remains of a plane wreck on day 4.

Did lots and lots of road biking from about the jan – june where i did a 3 day road cycling trip with work (250miles), and extended walking (26mile moonwalk).

I’m not convinced fitness is the biggest factor to achieving it. Move as slowly as you can. Once you get to the campsites, do all the acclimisation walks (walk high sleep low). Eat through any nausea even though you won’t want to. Best of luck, i thoroughly enjoyed it, although the last night to the summit was exhausting. 50% success rate in my group.

Yup, 2 years ago. We did the Rongai route. Usual hillwalking stuff in backpack, camelbak, sweeties, waterproofs, hat, gloves, lip balm, sunglasses, buff, balaclava. Good luck, when are you going?

Our GSD has a waterproof coat, it has nothing to do with keeping her warm. She is a total mud magnet. Its less traumatic for all concerned to try to keep her clean than spend forever chasing her round the garden with the hose. (She’s not keen on baths)

She does get a few funny looks as she rustles by………..

Our 33kg GSD is on Vitalin dry food complete, it has joint care in it, may have some benefits for shepherds and their hips. As a treat she loves tuna chicken or cheese! She thinks all her birthdays have come at once if she happens upon a spilt bag of chips.

i was more or less pleased at my c30 getting 49mpg, till the cold snap. now its 41 at best. My old -forever needing petrol A3 was 37mpg at best.

Shorter journeys definitely do not help though.

They do take a lot of time and effort. Our 4 yr old rescue GSD gets 45mins in the morning, 30mins at lunchtime, 1.5 at night and 20mins just before bed, and she would still go out for more.

Great with kids, people, other dogs, utter monster with cats, foxes, other small hairy things that run away. She did win dog of the month at obedience so shes not all bad!
