There was a write up in Dirt Magazine about the case.
There were some Mountain Bikers in an area where riding was banned. I think they were using the fire road trails to link up some singletrack – he would take it upon himself to block the riders path to try to stop them passing.
Because of the reaction he got he took to carrying a screwdriver to protet himself.
Then he was out with another couple of ramblers with a pruning knife to clear some trails (oh the irony).
He tried to block the biker with his arms out streched and “forgot” that he was carrying a knife in that hand. The rider was cut accross the chest.
They had two trials, the first was cancelled as one witness said he was well known as a booby trapping trail Nazi
The second trial was a split decision in the jurty so were not able to decide that he started off “with intent” to cause injury so he just got GBH type conviction.

I think it was the week that David Walliams was doing his swim – not really a surprise that he got ill.

To get an idea of depth it was a GoPro mounted on the top of a fork stanction, so the base of the camera was level with the lower headset race.

A few months ago the highest tide of the year coincided with my ride home at 6pm
The commute was from Kew bridge to teddington – it usually floods a little bit in Richmond on a fairly high tide, but this was a chunk higher

I rebuilt the bottom bracket that evening but the deore hubs were dry under the seals when I got round to them the week after.

You will either have 7.2v and 8800mAh if you did them in paralell or you will have 14.4v 4400mAh if you did them in series.

    not 14.4v 8800mah

Just a thought – are you going to use it with a magicshine?

I am not sure what the input voltage limit is, but all the components are speced to the absolute minimum and are unlikely to have 100% headroom.

The nominal voltage is 3.6 volts but the peak voltage after charging is 4.2

Same as a NiCd is known as 1.2v nominal but might be 1.4+ volts hot off the charger

    Doh1Nut

Yes you can add the first pack to the second to increase the run time.
    The current packs are 2S2P
two cells in series (2*3.6volts = 7.2volts) and
    two cells in paralell (2*2200mAh = 4400mAh)

The new pack should be 2S4P
two cells in series (2*3.6volts = 7.2volts) and
    four cells in paralell (4*2200mAh = 8800mAh)

You would also have the option of making two packs one biggish using 6 cells (2S6P) and one mini using 2 (2S1P)

This link may help. It also shows how to connect balancing leads to be used with a balancing charger. It should be noted that the circuit boards are protection circuits preventing overcharging and over discharging of individual cells but does NOT make sure that all cells have the same voltage ie are balanced.

    Doh1Nut
    Full Member

    They are the same
the nominal voltage of both packs is 7.4v
The peak voltage on the charger is 8.4v

8.4v is stated because bigger must be better obviously

I improved mine a bit by scraping most the moss off the roof which allowed it to dry more quickly.

The plan was to spray some weedkiller on to remove the rest and paint on some unibond or some other product that would make the roof less porus but I was not happy scraping the asbestos any more as some dust was coming off. :!:

so I just left it

other plans that I did not get round to included solar ventilator

I have been using Continental Town and Country
They dont have any specific puncture protection but they have an inverse tread indented into the rubber rather than knobs sticking out.
I this puts a lot of rubber between the road and inner tube.
They are pretty heavy but cheap £16 and at 2″ have enough volume for a rough flinty towpath.

    grip seems ok

I did a season when I was 35ish and the other staff were late 20s to a mum with a kid at uni.
The hihger end companies tend to want someone with a bit of a work ethic who wont get pissed every night.
I was there for the snow not for the drinking so that fitted with me.

The only thing that grated was the “Manager” was manager becuase he had done a season before not because he was a good manager, infact every member of staff had more management experience than he did.

My French is not great, but when the manager came into my challet holding the phone saying “you need to speak to the fish lady” I nearly punched him.

I did get recruited very late november but only because someone pulled out.

Insulate the inside of the room Kingspan Plasterboard I think you can just stick this to the walls and skim the joins.

I say I think because there may be condensation issues that affect the way you can install it. You would of cource have a room a couple of inches narrower.

We currently have This oneby philips which is behaving itself, I probably would not have chosen it for its looks but once in the room strangle inoffensive.
We have had a lumie before and that really was ugly – it only took a small knock for that to die.
One of the smarter ones was a SAD light without a light just an alarm clock type screen that sat on the table with a mains cable coming back out of the light with a female plug that you plugged your own light into, probably the least offensive way to get a SAD light into your room and unlike a simple timer does fade up nicely and can be set for weekends and has an audible alarm. That one stopped operating the light after a while, the clock and alarm still worked.

So thats how we ended up with the Philips, a name brand that should hopefully last more than two years.

The big drawback is the interest rate – it will be less favourable on an offset account.
The only way I could get my head round it was to get a spreadsheet of all the set-up fees and interest rates and offset amounts.

It is then possible to find out what the crossover value is
eg on 100k at 3.5% standard mortgauge = 3.5k repayments in a year
100k at 4% offset (with zero offset) = 4k repayments in a year
    87.k at 4% offset (with 12.5k offset) = 3.5k repayments in a year

so until you have 12.5k savings you will loose out.
but the flexability of a rainy day fund has a value
    etc. etc.

    4W40?
never seen that 10w40 more likely

even so the viscosity of the oil when cold is the number before the W so the engine oil is less viscous than the fork oil

Do you pay duy on the value of the goods in the condition they enter the country – so a used bike would be worth less than a new bike?
You could declare it as used and pay the tax on that lower value.

    Shorts

    the 3/4 must be huge

or I should have got mediums – but there is no stretch in the waistband so I think they would have been tight.

Did 100 miles on the road (on an MTB of course) last Friday in all that torrential rain and they were great.
I am 6 foot (just) and the large come right down to my kneecap while standing – so definitely long compared to another pair of alturas that I have.
Think boardshort and you have the cut of them – no elastication in the waist – just springy velcro adjustment straps
I was only slightly damp after many hours and I think most of that made it way up the legs rather than the shorts leaking.

I dont know how you book your chalet over the winter, I suspect you often block book the whole place which means a group with similar attitudes.
I gather that MTB bookings are more groups of three and four rather than ten
When I saw split groups the main friction between groups was often the TV that caused it.
I would not get British TV – I don’t watch Corrie or Eastenders at home and certainly dont want it in my chalet.

Other than that “workstand” can be a loop of rope from the garage roof.
Basic tools could be left out and better tools signed out for hire/loan.

Has anyone done CLIC24 to compare the course to SiS or Mayhem?

Have done CLIC24 for a few years and thinking about trying something different.

What is the atmosphere on the course ? is it proper racey. If anyone did call out “fast rider coming through” I would assume they were being ironic

This shot from Just after dawn on the round the island race, one of the few times I will share a start time with Valsheda.
Got quite close to Mr BP on “Bob” when he got into trouble going for a sail, Maybe we should have luffed him :D

I use it for childcare vouchers and for pension
The childcare one was a real no-brainer as £250 of vouchers costs me £150.

I cant remember the numbers for the pension as other stuff changed at the same time but I am pretty sure the split of the employer NI was 50/50.

There is also a good state secondary school there – that may be planning ahead a little too far though :D

Although I have just worked out how many years it was since my mate went there!!! – Probably check with Ofsted that it still exists.

The request for steel is a bit of a weird one.
I assume that they think it is less likely to fatigue and will be more repairable as it is easier to weld steel then aluminium, which is true.
But I imagine that welding thin wall high strength steel tubes is not easy at all. If African repair shops are like those I have seen in Asia then the chances of them completing a repair without completely screwing up the frame is pretty slim.

I see the point of keeping things simple, but the local supplies will be so low quality and the designs so out of date there will be no chance of interchangability.

Seeing the front cover of Sunday Times Style magazine a couple of months ago
Large photo of tanned and oiled buxom model lounging on beach with all the bits artfully covered with sand.

Yes they can make a difference especially if you get it in the room with the drying clothes.

We had fridge type one that did a good job when new but has lost gas slowly and now struggles with output. Works best in hot houses as it relies on the condensor being the coldest thing in the room, if your windows are colder then the water will condense on them.

The other type is the desicant type which are more expensive to buy and run but keep the output high even at low temps
My mum has this and it works well, quiet adds some heat to the room, clothes drying mode etc

    Dont forget
Take all your cash / wifes handbag / holiday cash etc locked up in your car before you let anyone in the house.
very hard to prove cash was there in the first place – let alone that they took it.

Have not used that one as was not sure about extra weight on handlebars.
    I use a
    We ride
which is good but really does cut down the area in front of the saddle so I struggle to drop down off the front of the saddle when stopping. I think I will add another adjustment hole to allow the seat to be moved a couple of inches further forward.
If you have a low saddle then it is not an issue

Unlikely perhaps but you get the opportunity to pair devices (bluetooth stylee) and the Garmin is made to the Ant standard.

I order a bunch of stuff from KD / DX at around the time of the postage strike two parcels took a bit longer then normal – about two weeks, but the first parcel posted went missing for 6 weeks before landing unexpectedly on my desk.
I think that it got stuck on the bottom of the strike backlog which they have only just cleared- only a theory.

If anyone has been put off thinking about this by all the negative crap then you would be missing out.
I worked as a Chalet Bitch in Morzine when I was 31 after I got made redundant. All the people I was working with were 28-40 years old and taking some kind of break from normal employment.

I had a brilliant time, met some great people and got about eight years worth of boarding in one year.
If you have no UK financial commitments then the finances are not so bad, Your wages can go tax free to your savings account, you are fed and housed so you need money for beer and kit. My tips paid for all the beer I wanted, a couple of boards and binding and a complete set of clothes helmets etc.

    I even lost 8kg :D

of course if you feel cleaning a toilet is demeaning – dont bother
