Its shorter this year, starting at Hampton Court / bushy park, not central london.
One of our group did it last year on a cyclocross bike but as said there were some sections that were pretty uncomfortable. I think hard-tail with fast rolling tyres, probably the best bet.
Planning on doing it the the weekend after the BHF ride this year.
I remember there was a sailing club / canoe club on the route that was a good place to stop which had half decent cakes.

Presume this does not apply to the Music Version, as I have auto-updates also and have a SW Version of 4.90
but in other news I have got notificaitons back again after unpairing everything and doing a delete/reinstall of Garmin connect – not exactly sure where the issue lay – it was communicating with the phone OK and uploading rides, but just not doing notifications?

    Kind of yes
Assumming that trainerroad provided structured workouts with a training objective.
    It now is subscription
Possilbe to download one/all vids in advance to avoid garage wifi issues
it now gives an exact target power based on your input power values
its 4d power adjusts the efforts based on other effort levels than FTP
but the rest of the vids are unchanged – I used it as it was a nice balance between fun / distraction and training.

So if you got trainerroad working with a sufferfest vid working in the embeded player syncronised to the correct workout then the effect is exactly the same – just without the half hour of faff beforehand

Also interested in the IQ pedals – I hope they at least get something workable out of it not a limits fiasco.
But that aside there is now the SRM MTB pedal power meter which will be available soon – but will be around the £1k mark. The understanding is there might be a few more MTB pedals around soon as the shimano SPD patent has just expired which has been one of the obstacles. hence all the look cleat road ones.
As for experience I use powertap hubs ( one road / one mtb ) and they have been rock solid.
The current mtb hubs can take all the axle types, the only restriction appears to be the 160mm disc. depends on your bikes as to weather that it an “easy swap” or not.

A few months ago my neck was tight, and was getting headaches due to neck / shoulders, I thought I had it under control but when I nearly rode into the back of a parked car (something that I had never even considered a risk previously before) I knew I needed something done.
As it was a spine issue so went to a chiropractor who confirmed that the top vertebrae were basically not moving causing the limited mobility. the release when they got cracked was great – I slept so well that night, it was fantastic.

All filmed at West Horsley Place, just down from the Staple Lane climb on the Ride London 100 route.
Strange to see part of my commute on the telly!

Inoffensive background telly – hope it livens up a little or it really should be on CBBC

    Just about 6foot in large
the 365 ones are quite heavy duty fabric and I would not like to be any taller with the shoulder straps
Decent quality – bought a second pair a couple of years later – old ones still in good shape.

Absolutely do not ask the recruiter beforehand – he will (almost certainly) have no real idea what is going on in the role. all he will have what is written on his bit of paper, dont give him an opportunity exclude you before the interview.
Assume the interview will include who you will actually be working for.

Hearing Bonnie Tyler on Radio 2 this morning cheered me up no end
If you thought her voice was knackered 20 years ago it sounds like she has been gargling barbed wire in the interim and it sounded great

    a real guilty pleasure :-)

But the percentage of respondents was amazing according to the radio

    UK 0.02%
    Germany 80%

However well meaning it is really an anti-EU own goal at the moment
    “Brussels Steals Greenwich Mean Time”

Just checked some numbers from the site linked there of a sample of 40000 results shows that in that one file there were 33114 responses from Germany and 73 from the UK !

Looks like you have put the caliper back together, but red grease for brake piston re-assembly ( special compatible with seals)
And I had a load of hassle with a brake caliper that turned out to be some tiny corrosion on the edge of the disk backing which stopped the pad retracting correctly 30 second fix when it is all disassembled but I had fitted the new calipers before I found what was happening.

The bench vice advice wins every time for me
As you are moving the frame the lever you have is on par with a really serious breaker bar.
and keeping the frame horizontal is easy stopping the tool from hopping out.

Made me think of Barcelona airport a few years ago
Saw a car carrier delivering cars for Enterprise, he unloaded 5 cars into a space for 4 – he just used the 5th car to shunt the four he had just unloaded and another car parked behind them until he was off the lorry.
    Clutch smelt a bit.

4 grand might be the correct amount for what is being offered and you do need that level of chaperoning at that age, but in a few years she will be able to go back-packing without a chaperone and 4 grand would last you for 4 months or longer.
And if she is really interested in scuba diving then join the local BSAC club

    For the 26″ frame

Scandal Effective horizontal toptube is 589mm for 16″ and 602mm for the 18″
I have the 18″ going spare but that would of course restrict you to 40mm tyres on 29″ wheels

The not telling the bad news is really pervasive to the extent of arguing when you start to make enquiries to the very obvious non-performance.
The key phrase for me is “and Ill do everything else” which challenged my understanding of “everything” and really meant doing about half of the main thing you asked for and a bit of something else you didn’t want.
Some of that was of course down to individual not culture

Have a look back for the ikea in india TV program – they had some real challenges adapting the cultures there.

What do you wear for XC skiing ?
Minus 4C in an unheated shed is OK for me
I start off with a jacket and and woolly hat and just strip off as required

But it is my nose that gets cold and I am not sure how I would solve that.

Accommodation on the way or when you are there?

F1 are cheap or cheaper than Travelodge

A full run on the Alps is about 1000 miles each way from Surrey so my costs are about the same as Akers – but £100 less fuel as I must drive slower.
We do keep an eye on Google traffic and sometimes jump off the autoroute on the way back as the traffic from the other resorts start joining the motorway. We do it because it can save time – any money saved is a bonus – but we try to take the opportunity to grab some proper food.

As an idea of the pressures and temperatures that can be involved. I worked on the design of a gas riser ( the pipe from the seabed to the surface) for 780bar (eleven thousand psi) pressure and 200 centigrade flowing temperature. if I recall there were some bits of pipe with a 76mm wall thickness of custom steel (X70+)
One of those jobs where you have to think how you are going to buy the steel and get something made for a product where you might normally just select it from a catalogue.

Definitely narrow for me – either the shoe or my foot has given in though so not too bad now. but it took several months
However I just wear normal socks – if I was buying again I would go up half a size and maybe put an insole in or wear thicker socks – This is for the winter mtb boots not the super arctic ones. so I have worn them commuting for most of the year

Sweethome 3d is also pretty good with a good load of furniture and stuff to download put in the model. more focused on the interior than exterior.
Some pretty good rendering with light sources inside as well as the sun.
You can also trace the existing plan if you have that.
It is of some use to get an idea of what might work- but the value of an architect is (can be ) knowing about stuff that you would not think of – like moving the front door and the stairs , terrifying but possibly cheaper than building an extra room.

(awaiting first rendering from Architect #3)

    Have a look at http://www.lathes.co.uk/advertphoto/181105-ml7/

You can see some of the attachments

some have some change gears that are used to swap out physical cogs to change the lead screw speed – for changing different threads etc

there will also be lots of cutting tools hidden somewhere

and small stuff can have supports that only get used occasionally

I would have a look at the site and see if you can see any extras that you recognize.

Have a go at tiling the floor – its not that hard and provides a really great finish that no other surface can match (IMHO)

I think I did it for £100 which was less than getting the rubber mats

    Insulate if you can

and an infrared heater over the bench is great

Has anyone tried some larger tyres in the Elan?

I think the spec sheets says 28mm max, but is that 28mm with nice clearances and mudguards or 28mm just barely getting in and less if you want mudguards ?

    Thanks

ps slightly on topic – this the only frame ever that suggests that I am on an XL frame – strange

But Delrin will not transfer the heat

All LED hate the heat ( in performance and lifetime)

the Star it not enough surface area to cool it  can you make the lid out of metal ? with the LED connected to that ?

There is some fact up there- mostly captured by the graph

The  http://350ma driver  is a smart resistor – it has a very low resistance until it passes 350ma then the resistance goes up   (googleAMC7135 to find the datasheet) –

Then get three LEDs http://LEDs and wire 3 in series  (6 volt supply 2v across each LED)

I would get some M3 bolts and clamp the LED stars down on a strip of alloy (some heat transfer paste underneath), then solder them in series with the 7135 chip and cover everything except the LED dome with hot glue to waterproof

Then stick it on the things I have built thread :-)

My niece is just coming to the end of the RYA junior system and it has been a really positive experience for her.

sailing has the advantage that there is not much you can do mid week other than a bit of strength training, That puts it all at the weekends taking much of her mums time ferrying her down to the coast or wherever they have training / racing. they are experts in finding nice economic accommodation. (I would have bought a van!)

The RYA system is I understand very good , lots of training on life skills, after all sending your kid out in a Oppy to an imaginary start line a mile offshore of Weymough harbour needs some skills. (and balls)

For the last couple of years the family summer holiday has been where they are holding the World Championships, This year was 420 in the USA

Taking a break this year as the qualifying races are during A-Levels

I did get one of their lights last time – it was OK and came with a useful belt clip attachment – but mine now will not hold charge after one winter of light weekly use

It charges fine and works fine – but if leave it 4 days and it is flat

the similar planet x ones are fairing much better and always have some charge after several weeks left un-used

Some really great youtube stuff of real world examples – from what you describe a Pelton wheel powered by a low volume / high velocity – pressure jet sounds like what you are planning

There are some great re-purposed washing machine motors ( the multi-coil type) for the generator

One issue I have picked up is the controller needs to be able to detect the correct point in the voltage current curve to get the best efficiency – one designed for solar will not give time for the wheel to spin up to get a full output curve

But in the uk your biggest issue might be that technically you extract the water when you take it from the stream and that is a big issue that you probably will not get permission for – even if you put the water back at the bottom of the garden.

    It was only a domestic system – 18 Viridian 300 panels – but with high(er) performance ?

I am sure it was claiming 5.6kw or something like that. (above what I thought was possible as “normal”)

The idea of a voltage optimiser is that the UK supplies 230/240volts but “everyone else” uses 220v so a switching transformer corrects the voltage to 220v

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voltage_optimisation

I can see that there may be a valid logic to this if you had old skool transformers and somehow any excess voltage was just burnt off as heat, but a kettle will simply boil faster and anything with 110/220 transformer (laptop power supplies etc.) I am sure would be as efficient at 320v as 220v.
