There is a Kahn land rover in the Sunday times this week, 60 grand gets you some armour look panels a new front grill some wider wheels and not much else. Engine is untouched I think they are pretty much a looks company.

Paying at least a token towards the family when they are using full facilities normally helps in reducing the problems of kids taking advantage. It depends on your financial situation if that pays for a takeaway or is actually paying bills.

(Not a parent but used to be a kid)

Looks slightly odd, I know things in peat bogs can last pretty well but looks too good to be true

Didn’t get on with the expense and general lack of taste etc;)
Have a shuffle round any big supermarket and you can find lots of precooked rice and pasta and the pretty good lookwhatwefound range. Not as light as dehydrated etc but defo a good addition to noodles and couscous.

Lucky enough to live in a low fly zone so whatever I have seen recently.
Normally tornados and hawks but the occasional more exciting Hercules doing its thing is a thing of beauty.

I use a carabiner through one of the rotors just to stop someone buggering of with it if I’m in a shop etc. comes with risk of bike damage though:)

Cairngorm loop doable in 2.5 days but weather maybe a factor,
WHW from crainlarich to FW stopping at kings house or kinlochleven easy done 1.5 days

Cut through the alcan yard then up the zigzags. the access road from there drops you in quite far up the xc course

    Rail station has bag storage

Would be a shame to miss the return over the devils staircase even though I know it is a pretty grim thought when you are tucking into chips and beer in kll. Cycling the road should be your last resort as I have seen members of the group going that way and getting back to car in about the same time.

Bus from kll is a local running to ft William don’t think there is one going toward kh.
You could always try breaking the bike down and wrapping in the black bags and tape you have with you to make them into “hand luggage”

Like my relevate saddle bag but pretty pricey compared with the other options these days and I was about 4 months between ordering and delivery.

Wouldn’t bother with a bar roll again a couple of good straps threaded through some old sections of inner tube for grippage work much better.
Not tried a frame bag yet but use a couple of old fashioned triangle bags (one upside down going from top tube to seat post )to carry a reasonable amount of stuff and still use a bottle.
Alpkit extra drybags with the straploops are a very good buy as well.

Broke an anything cage after about twenty miles off-road with a <kilo sleeping bag in it. Glad I only bought one to try.

drivers door 3dr micra, there is a little turn switch like a child safety but turning that didn’t make any difference.
(don’t think drivers door would have a CS lock anyway)

I think a lot of the fort William bashing is a bit over the top but pretty much every one of my top ten worst food experiences has been within sight of Ben Nevis.

If you are going to do a route near kinlochleven then devils staircase – black water dam – ciarnan path – then return west highland way back to car is an easily navigable “big” day.

The wild trails books are pretty good I have been working my way through them over the past few years.
The Nevis circuit will take you to some great places but the riding itself is not that inspiring (big day out though)
Devils staircase and ciarnan loop has a few variations and should be on your list IMHO but would be a bit strange not to climb back over from kinlochleven and descend the staircase?

As it is illegal and pretty dumb I wouldn’t know but it is a trail of epic grimness. large sections have little to no stones between sleepers making for bumpy going and other sections are wooden sleepers covered in eons worth of diesel and grease that where just silly after a light drizzle.
Don’t kid yourself you will hear a train 2 guys got wiped out last summer walking along it, I guess if you had to try it though it’s worth checking rail timetables etc and making sure you off the track when trains expected through.

squirt convert here, I have several bottles of other lube in the shed that will get used for other things but will never be used on any chain of mine again.
works in all weathers and conditions for me and doesn’t turn into black grinding paste like most other lubes.
make sure you apply as per instructions to a clean chain and give the chain an occasional clean with white spirit.

Pretty awful to see that woman dragged away in the news tonight and the total evasion of any actual facts by the officials is worrying in the extreme.

Afaik braking bumps can occur in pretty much any surface, I’ve seen it on Tarmac road and read that train tracks can get it as well. I have no way of explaining it though:)

If they have engine data showing it flew on for hours how does the data end, eg does it stop abruptly or show signs of fuel loss or normal landing signs

I’m new to the area, not had a lot of time to explore but the eildon hills are good for a couple hours very muddy at the bottom though. can’t really complain though as it is actually outside my front door.
Looking forward to exploring some more.

Was most definitely worth bringing it. managed a few runs down from mid station, nice packed snow with a couple inches fresh. Even though it was a push up I Enjoyed it even more than the fresh I collected on the board 😀

Done (most) of the ft William to Montrose route last year it was ok but prob won’t try again it’s just not much fun. Cairngorm loop is a much better ride done in about 2 1/2 days without much bother and the trails are fun
