Depending on the complexity of events that caused the depression it may never go away in it’s entirety, you just learn to control it by recognising the triggers to keep floating just above it…

No real perfect solution but talking to friends/family/strangers does help.

Guess like any city if you wonder off into the wrong part it could be dodgy. No doubt you’ll stick together. Would say go, why not ? All part of life’s rich tapestry and all that…

Absolutely cracking route, nicely organised, managed 2 laps but really had to push it some to get through last half, that really steep bit when you come out the woods got me first time, nailed it 2nd time ! Decent cake, some coffee and bit of sunshine in the afternoon, perfect ! 8)

In my experience netbooks are too small for frequent use. I have an Acer Aspire 1810 which though small has a full size keyboard. It's great.

got one too, fully recommend, easily 6 hours + battery life, quiet, good screen, light, only downside speakers are a little tinny for watching films but easy to remedy by hooking up speakers.

Have seen plenty of roadies with pot bellies bulging under tight lycra!

Unless you're very committed it's hard to stop the march of time, even for the skinnies. I'm guessing mtbing is reaching maturity as a sport, all those who started back in the day are now in their late 30/early 40's. Life does get more complicated but as long as you're still smiling so what !

From my limited research into garmins the basic map you get with it is pretty dire but there are plenty of free map services you can download. That's good as the cost of the gb discoverer maps adds at least another 100 quid on top..

Yeah that is one serious review !

Is this running Garmin GB Discoverer 1:50k OS for sure ? If yes I'm sold…

Have had music collection as flac on a mini squeezebox server for years now but I must admit I miss buying cds, downloading seems to dumb down purchasing, too quick & easy to delete if you don't get on with it, though fantastic for previewing tracks.

Never throwing away my cds though.

Don't wait until the day of doing the sdw 100 miler to try bib shorts for the 1st time only to discover 13 hours later you're wearing them the wrong way round hence constant overheating during the ride and a sore groin…

get to know social expats, respect the laws/locals/boss, avoid being bummed, dive, windsurf, eat nice food, save money, count the days till you leave.

Jeddah probably best place to be.

(one with a green Genesis and the other with a Boardman)

Great report. Yeah that was me with the snot green Genesis!

Well done for making it, was a tough ride indeed and relentless, those last 20 miles seem to last forever ! The view into Eastbourne was so worth it ! Though next time taking co2 cartridges.

top camping tip – don't leave any food outside of the tent unguarded, the cheeky ponies and horses make regular raids….oh and yeah 2nd get a spot well away from the road, at night due to the quietness its like the m25.

took me 10 years to realise there was another street in Brokenhurst than the one with the campsite on…mmmm

boardmans seem to be very popular, on london to brighton saw loads ! Is the comp the gun-metal grey one ? Looks very nice…Struggled to keep pace with somebody on the hybrid version, they were fast!

Best of luck anyone doing the 100/65 miler tomorrow ! The view down to the sea at Eastbourne makes it all worthwhile…

imagine it's an early start, prob 6-6.30am for the 100 miler, it was 6.30 when last did it 10 years ago..

agree njee20, was being a bit too general.

Took me a few trips to realise the Ports-Cardiff cattle vans were the norm, my peak times were last thing at the weekend, unfortunately being a cheap/late night journey it was just as packed as Monday am ! Good to hear it's being improved.

One of the worst trips I took was on the dreaded Southampton-Bristol service with 3 carriages. Bike section was so full of people I had to balance the bike on the rear tire whilst avoiding ramming the bars into peoples heads, if we had to brake sharp it would have head kebabs all round.

After a few trips realised this was the norm at peak weekend times so now hire a car, 40 quid extra well spent. The state of differing cross network policies/archaic systems and limited places make us the laughing stock of Europe, bouncing around 15 years ago in the guards van was way more enjoyable!

think the hardest part is getting to know yourself again, enjoying your own company. Take each day as it comes, take care of your health, your family & friends, then the rest will follow and by crimbo life will hopefully be a bit brighter inside. As others have said at least you've got a roof over your head and no money worries. Take care.

Visited Berlin recently, Sunday there was like it used to be here, very few shops open, not sure if all Germany is like this but it made me wonder why we push for 24/7, just feels like Saturday part 2 now.

as long as you're riding the bike not leaving it to gather dust then that's what counts. If nobody bought top-end kit the tech would never filter down to lower-end models, had a fiesta hire car at the w/e with cruise control ffs, who had thought that 20 years ago.

Highly recommend Enterprise, use them all the time, admittedly mainly for their excellent weekend rates.

For insurance it may be worth getting an annual policy for 50 quid or so rather than taking enterprise's version eg. questor insurance[/url] Don't know if this works if you're resident abroad though.
