Mt500 shorts lasted about 5 years before needing stitching up with seams gone but still ok. Older shorts from them, guess Singletrack, quite heavy duty have lasted way longer. So yep guess older kit may have been better.

Had a Baxi 830 installed a few weeks ago for about 2k with 10yr warranty. Plumber recommended them over Worcester.

@petefromearth yes they’re expensive but does mean wheels don’t need locking up plus don’t need to worry about locking saddle.

Although my commuter is old I’m attached to it too but have covered it in stickers so only the foolish would want to nick it!

For my tatty pub road bike I use Hexlox bolts on the wheels and seat post/saddle so means just need to use a small Abus Granit X-Plus 54 Mini D-Lock, quite light.

I use one of these on the left for my commuter

How often do you think ambulances parking in drives is a real issue ? It’s not. It’s in press because the bloke writing the note is a knob.

-When you make a grunt when you stand up or sit down.

-the prospect of winter on the turbo sounds more appealing than night riding.

    Nice.

Exactly. This is the perspective that is needed. 5 people would have died in car accidents today in the UK. Not one would even make the national news and nobody is going to stop driving tomorrow because of it.

But those accidents weren’t intentional. Slightly different.

mine does that…sometimes, usually presta valve is sticking…press it a few times to expel air, works for me.

afrothunder88 the banding snaps like a coke can with bending…obviously once its screwed in from the roof down to the floor it’s a lot more secure. You can get in rolls from screwfix/b&q.

recommend securing the roof too. I used that steel banding and screwed it down the roof to floor..bit extreme but works.

What Will The NHS Be In 5 Years? – believe the mainstream and it has ring fenced budgets, but tell me a hospital thats not having to save millions each year, my local Southampton performs amazingly but still suffers with having to make crazy budget cuts, they are destine to fail, targets or not, then it’s easier to suggest outsourcing (that has proven to fail too). I would love it to survive like it is but yes it needs 3 or 4 times more investment from GP roots upwards.

ricky1 am suffering similar issue to you, all new kit but seem to be snapping chains.

Improvements so far have included ditching XT double to SLX triple, replacing a slightly bent RD hanger and fitting RARr cage to XT clutch RD. Had thought that would be it but with the last near snap noticed play in BB so not sure if this contributed to issues but will swap spacer to non-drive side when replace.

Running out of ideas. Good luck with yours.

Either insurance or share costs or spend the next 20 years not talking to each over a minor repair ??

Original 800’s had an issue with grit getting inbetween the glass gap, if you tried to get the grit out you could easily crack the screen. After mine was replaced under warranty I covered it in gorilla screen protector plus rubber case, been fine since 2011.

Ton done it once without support, loved it, lucky only had punctures, people are great, views amazing but tbh conditions were spot on, not sure would be so happy if it was raining/snowing the entire night but I guess that’s what attracts people to ride it!

Echo what everyone says, if you’re there just to survive & have fun then steel ht’s are more than adequate, make sure contact points are as comfortable as possible and well trusted, 15 hours down the line you’ll not want to be worrying about a new creak (beyond your knees!). In the end though it’s down to positive mental attitude and riding away the demons 😈

Still don’t understand why an Arab taskforce hasn’t been set up. We’ve given Saudi Arabia billions in arms, their troops are trained by us. We had the intelligence to know ISIS was advancing but did nothing. They did nothing. Oh maybe because they are funding them. We want Assad out. Win win. Let’s just hope they don’t make it to Israel.

Are there any plans to improve the cycle ‘path’ from Ashurst to Lyndhurst ? If this widened a bit & tarmaced then it would encourage more riders to use it, particularly if on road bikes.

When you contemplate spending more money on shampoo than you would on booze. It had caffeine in it plus makes your hair grow back.

Bit of common sense in the first place would have helped, even if snow has melted in some places there is still a backlog in the distribution chain including stock getting to place….

Well judging by the solo tent most people must have had pits track side, most of the night there was just a handful of people using it.

Apart from the fact most people are there for the challenge not the podium it would be a logistical nightmare to have 2 pits with 2 sets of everything.
